Known for sayings like "KEEP THE COUNTRY, COUNTRY" the east side of O'ahu is perhaps the last bit of undeveloped (relatively speaking) land on the island.

In this video we run into a good friend who also works in the real estate industry, and we end up having a VERY deep and meaningful conversation on the topic of ownership - what it means for locals and visitors.
Put simply, this part of Hawaii is different. This part of Oahu is different.
Noticeable mentions from this area include:
- Polynesian Cultural Center
- Brigham Young University, Hawaii,
- Kualoa Ranch
- Waiahole Poi Factory
- Laie Point
- Kahana Bay
- Crouching Lion Hiking Trail
- Chinaman's Hat
SERVICING:
- Oahu Island
- Maui Island
- Hawaii Island
- Kauai Island

BIG MAHALO to Kealoha for our serendipitous conversation about ownership in Hawaii - I think a lot of people needed to hear that!

This is my favorite part of the island..it is the part that feels like being on Big Island or Kauai. If/when I do move to Oahu, the hard part will be whether it makes sense to be so far away from medical care and the amenities of Town - otherwise, this area is where I feel the best in. Thx guys for the video…

I spent December thru March this year living with my ex-inlaws in Waimanalo - my favorite Windward town. Watching your vid brought it all back for me - Mahalo!! If I ever get the bucks to have a place there - you never know what can happen!! - LOL - I'm coming to meet you guys. My nephew's in Makaha, and wants me to come there - and I love the west side, too - but I'm really kind of a Kalama Valley kanaka. Love the breezes that blow thru there.))

When you were talking about the land across the highway, and talking about termites, i was wondering what the best materials would be for oceanfront property. Its not really a buying or selling topic, but might be a good video idea. Love how you guys talk about the different communities.

Glad you talk about the cons of beachfront property. I’m from Oahu and my boyfriend is European and we are thinking of moving to the islands. Naturally he’s got this dreamy idea of living right on the beach and me being from there I’m like “no, it’s gonna wreck our cars and appliances and it’s gonna be salty and rusty all the time”. Not to mention housing insurance and tsunami risk. I wanna be up a hill lol

Great video. We love da poi factory! We always get a couple of sweet ladies (haupia ice cream with warm kulolo). Yeah. We love the east side of Oahu too. Did a couple of drone footage of Laie Point as well. BTW, every time we pass by, I always wondered how that home is surviving being that close to the water. Insurance must be high.

How far north do you need to go to get out of the rain?
@movingtohawaii
@movingtohawaii Жыл бұрын
Can't outrun the windward showers. Best bet might actually be Hawaii Kai, as it sits on the SE corner of the island and is typically dry and windy.

I hate that your making videos that pretty much only mainlanders watch and getting them excited to move here when the truth is the locals dont want ANYMORE mainlanders here.
@movingtohawaii
@movingtohawaii Жыл бұрын
Local people stop me around town all the time and say they love our videos and a lot of Hawaiians on the mainland watch. One college kid sent us a video in tears thanking us. His uncle is the pastor at a Baptist Church in Mauka. I do understand your concern though. We don’t make the relocation industry. Please also be mad at the movers, Matson, car transporters, airlines, etc
