Again a great video! About negative comments and maybe sometimes rude also, I'm pretty sure like 90% of them are because of jealousy, they want to be in your shoes. Try to ignore them, I know it's not that easy, I sometimes have similar problems. I needed to hear what you said about learning the Thai language because I'm struggling with it daily, it's so difficult, but your words gave me energy!

One trick and easy way to learn Thai is to watch thaimovies and series.. There are many really good ones..And it gives u Thai and understanding of culture for free..even with subtitles some thai get stuck from a good movie. Personally i love the thai horror comedies and fall asleep most evenings to a good thai movie or series =)

100% it's just jealousy and nit being happy in their own lives! Keep at it - its worth it when it starts to click 👍

Myself and my Thai wife of 18 years are currently building a house in her country just outside Korat and splitting the egg cost 50:50. It’s more for her if anything happens to me as I would struggle to live in rural Thailand full time, for some of the reasons you mention, but love it in short bursts. Don’t worry about the negative comments and they are good for business anyway. I had all sorts of prophecies of doom when I got married to a Thai but it’s one of the best things I ever did. I never waste my energy trying to change the perception of others - not worth it!.

I also live in a rural area in Thailand - close to the border to Laos. I think, it's really important, to have something to do. I see a lot of farangs, hanging around with other farangs and drinking beer, because they have nothing to do. Even travelling isn't enaugh to spend the time. We live on a land of around 15 rai and there's allways a lot to do...take care the plants, our four dogs and the fishponds. Next to this, we have apartments (25 rooms) to rent and a cafe-restaurant. So I'm happy, that I don't have the time, to hang around in the bars. My hint to expats: Think seriously before about, how you'll spend the days, weeks, month and years in Thailand.

61 yrs old, lived/married here in Thailand for more than half of those years. Always nice to listen to a guy giving personal experiences and advice about living here. Much better than listening to these so called KZbinrs talking about all they know, the tarts in wherever. Boring!

Are you finding the weather more tolerable now that the rains have come? It's hot during the day in the north but can cool down nice if we get some rains in the evening. 24c now in Samoeng at 10pm which is comfortable with a fan. 90% humidity though so keep the fan on. 😂

problem living in more rural areas is the boredom ..most expats don't work and living in villages where locals go to bed with the sun and rises with the sun..and its totally dead after sundown most times is really boring..many expats goes to the beer bottle or "whisky" as a comfort Main thing living there is to have work or hobbies that keeps u active and fit...i probably walk more here in bangkok in one day than a expat in more rural areas do in a week..because of the dogs snakes and distances
@JoeinThailand1
@JoeinThailand1 6 ай бұрын
Definitely. I couldn't do it if I wasn't working on things. I can understand why many do go for the bottle, as for some its the only thing to "do". I've got no time to be bored at the moment 😅

Personally, i would prefer living in rural Thailand. I enjoy being outdoors and keeping busy. Gardening, big open spaces, and the peace and quiet. A bit over the hustle and bustle of city life.🤣

chilled out place mate. can i see myself living in sisaket? yes. does my gf want to live in sisaket? no. probably korat/ubon or even chiang mai for us. but she changes her mind weekly😅. most of the happy couples are too busy enjoying life to tell their stories on thai expat FB groups. my question, and more an idea, have you been down to the cliffs Pha Mo I Daeng and looked over cambodia at sunrise? I've wanted to do it ever since my gf went down there a few months ago

I’m living in surin 1 year now, 7 years with my thai wife ❤ so our money is our money and her family is my family, same as mine back in Australia and I don’t get paid a lot anyway , I think a lot of the horror stories come from falang that are say 60+ and overweight and under the impression they can just come and marry a beautiful 30 year old Thai lady and live happily ever after… probably because they can’t find a wife back home.. don’t figure 😅 you never hear of being the falangs fault..
