Well if you think about it, p4 already have many similarities with P3 as it is, both P3 and p4 have a transfer student protagonist that has a persona which backstory is about a mythological figure (Orpheus and izanagi) that lost his lover and went to the "underworld" or equivalent to the world of dead to bring her back, but because they looked at her before returning to the living world she ended trapped in there. Also if I am not mistaken it is said that both nyx and izanami were attracted to the humanity death wish, the main difference is that nyx is an alien/cosmic deity that represents death, and izanami was a goddess of death that was a reflection of people collective consciousness and was doing it because that's what people really wished for, in nyx case humanity would all become lost with the apathy syndrome and die and become shadows, as for izanami case the fog would engulf the world and everyone would become shadows wandering without reasoning until death I may have misunderstood some details, because English is not my native language, but they already have some similarities as it is. So Is not really a surprise that p4 was based into a P3 side story Sorry about my poor English

I just saw some random videos from persona 5 and thought maybe there were some kind of explanation for the enemies in 5 being identical to personas. Don't know much about the series to be honest

Shadow Makoto would likely be Makoto wanting to close his heart away because of the pain he felt when he lost his parents. Unlike with Takaya, Shadow Makoto’s act of being cold is because he doesn’t want to feel the pain of losing someone important to him. I like this headcanon of mind of because it’s the opposite of Shadow Yu in the anime, Yu willing succumbs to the illusion of the fog so that he Yu wouldn’t be alone anymore.
