I caught the tail-end of this lifestyle..grew up on the trapline till I was 16 years old. I am 54 years old now but my heart is still on the trapline

what nice film! such a joy to see the young brothers an sisters n how fortunate they were to have a school in their homeland versus being sent away n we know what happened there..so sad..

Man I love this. Makes me feel like it’s my ancestors. My family was from around Moose Lake, and were trappers for generations.

Man I love seeing these videos. My family of Metis people were trappers of many generations. From Fawcett Lake or formerly known as Moose Lake. Tansi all!!

Interesting choice to upload the full scan! Love to see an archive favour the object not just the content. I would be curious as to the reasons and choices that went into uploading this film in this version? Presumably you do a full scan for a digital archival record and a cropped one for access, but to upload the full scan is really cool!

That drum sounds as good as any store bought tom tom drum, which makes me wonder how the modern day drums evolved.

53 years later the Canadian Government has ensured these people have been pounded into the ground with this skill set probably forgotten.
