I saw it erupt out my bedroom window. A sight I'll never forget. Witnessed several other eruptions after May 18th.

That really takes me back. I was 8 years old when that happened. For a long time even in Missouri the horizon was lost in the haze from the ash.

Drogo Baggins I was in Missouri as well and was 10. I remember the sunsets but I also remember the halo around the moon.

I too was 8 years old, in Colorado. I remember the ash fall reaching us as a grey dust, and trailing my fingers through it where it settled on our car.

I was 7, and I'm living in the very cabin my family was at in Mason County, when the ash fell and covered our cars. That's when we knew she had blown. I still don't have TV out here, and I LOVE IT! I went to the 39th Anniversary. I'm so fortunate to only live about 2.5 hrs away, so I go up there at least every few months. It NEVER gets old seeing the views once you exit I-5, and head East. I've always felt an attachment to Mt St Helens, and it will never leave me

I saw this as it happened. My family was spending Mother's day (late, because her birthday was right after so we combined the two) in Long Beach, and my dad took my brother and myself out in our raft on the lake behind my uncle's house. Suddenly my mother was screaming and running at top speed down to the edge of the water. We had to leave at once before I-5 was closed. When we got to the junction at Kelso, traffic was stopped and my dad lifted me up so I could see it. It looked exactly like a thunderstorm. Lightning and thunder. Darkness.

I was only 2 at the time of the eruption. But I do remember the “snow” I wasn’t allowed to go out and play in and I remember my papa taping up the windows.

I wasn’t alive yet when this happened. My dad was in middle school. But my dad was living in Oregon city and could see it from the roof of their house.

I was living in Boulder as well Tara. I was 14, a 9th grader at Southern Hills Jr. High. In my Earth Science class or teacher had us make a prediction as to when the major eruption would occur. We were studying volcanoes and earthquakes at the time and had taken a field trip to USGS in Golden on Friday the 16th. I came closet to predicting the eruption. I had picked the 21st. By midday-late afternoon on the 18th, there was ash on my Dads car.
