Yall probably know already but usually if the signage, envelope box or deposit boxes are all covered up. That usually means off season rules. Leave no trace, bathrooms, trash receptacles are closed, water off and usually free or off season rates if posted. Like it may be much cheaper fees. If gates to parking are closed, no overnights, but still usually can walk in for hiking during day. If open, overnights ok and at least in California 7-14 day limit or otherwise posted.

That makes total sense and something we learned on the fly I suppose. We stayed nearly 3 weeks there for free. We did meet the camp hosts on the last 5 days and they basically said the same thing. I recommend that site if you’re ever in the area.

I really enjoyed watching this. We do a lot of camping in our sprinter, live in California and have driven past this spot at least 100 times and never knew it was there. Thank you for sharing :)

Really enjoyed this, so relaxing and fun. Great footage and composition. It's nice to just be in one place and get to know it and we can too. Hope to see more just like this, especially with bush craft! No rushing around and barely seeing a place. Looking forward to next video!

Thank you, Nox! That really means a lot. We enjoyed this spot so much and glad we could save all of the money that it would normally cost to stay here. Appreciate you for the support and for watching :)

Hey such a nice spot you found and cool you both enjoyed some restorative time. Loved the river fly overs and watching Trey carve a walking stick. Did the knife break?
@treyandaddie Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching my friend. Yeah that knife split into two pieces while I was splitting wood but that one lasted at least 6 years. Gerber already sent a free replacement!

Nice Video, great stewardship leaving things better than you found them/Campground Leave No Trace. When using a Ferro rod to start your fire, one thing to consider is to use the spine of your blade (it should have a 90-degree angle) instead of the cutting edge.
@treyandaddie Жыл бұрын
Thanks! You’re right about the Ferro Rod. My knife actually broke on me earlier in the day so I just used the knife edge. Gerber already sent a replacement!

Hey Guys! Nice to meet fellow KZbinrs and vanlifers! How is vanlife going for you? We have a home base now but seriously thinking of going fulltime! Looking forward to exploring the NF all over the U.S.! We definitely plan on going slow... Thanks for sharing your vanlife adventures!! 💙Terry and Terri

Hi Terry! We’ve loved van life so far! Traveling at our own pace and seeing all we can see in different parks and cities. We are currently back in our home state to get some life stuff figured out but still living full time in the van. Hopefully get back to some adventures once winter is over! Are you building a van or diy’ing one?
@TerryX2Explore Жыл бұрын
Great!! We did a simple diy build in our vintage van... We just love it! @@treynewsom1817

What brand saw is that? Awesome video. This may be my first dispersed camp site if I’m lucky

It’s from REI. Not sure on the brand my friend. Thank you for watching!

"Little river." Lol. That's the South Fork of the American River. It's only the most historical river in the West. Gold was found about 40 miles down stream from where you camped. Sparked the CA gold rush in 1848. Still one of the most popular rivers for recreation in the West. Thanks for the video.

And, there is still plenty of gold! Gold panning is a hobby that really does pay for itself and a little extra too, and you are near one of our “secret” spots. I’ve said too much. 🤣 Great video 👍

Sand Flats Campground in Eldorado National Forest, CA. Beautiful place. Not far from Lake Tahoe either (where we drove from). Thanks for watching!

Thanks a lot. The knife is Gerber which I recommend since it’s a lifetime warranty. They replaced the one from this video actually. Ace and collapsible saw came from REI. Thank you for watching!
