Be very careful, bears can come out of no where,they are very territorial,I read many sad stories with bears,as beautiful as the scenery and bears are too,thank you for sharing your video

Yes they can be trouble. When I see them I keep a respectful healthy distance and ALWAYS carry bear spray with me. Doesn’t guarantee safety but sure makes it easier to be in their territory. At least black bears are mostly predictable. I encountered a momma black bear and her second year cubs while on a trail in the mountains. We made ourselves large by waving our arms and calmly talking to them and letting them know where we were. They did as expected and moved off the trail and into the bush. When in grizzly country I carry a whistle or air horn and give warning blasts when I’m near water or around corners or hills. For added security I have a short barrelled shotgun with buckshot and slugs for when I’m in heavily populated bear country. Despite this I realize that I’m never assured safety from them.

Back in the 70s my family drove from medford oregon to Bella Coola in a class C motorhome to see my step sister. I have fond memories of bald eagles,and the river so full of salmon that you could almost walk across on their backs.😊

Thanks for the comment! I can only imagine how rough The Hill was back then. It’s in great condition today but every bit as windy and steep. It’s a stunning part of BC that few people get to experience.

It’s a stunning view from up there for sure. The Atnarko is a very picturesque river. Great fishing and grizzly bear watching too!

Your video gave me great help, thank you, as I’m planning camping in Bella collar this summer, I was worry about the road condition as my rv trailer is a 30feet 9000pounds heavy one. Now I feel much better going there, and I’m a fishing fan too. It’s a very good place for fishing😁
@capturereeladventure Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Put it in 4 wheel drive, 4 low and first gear. Have your hand on the manual trailer brake and go slow is the best advice on this hill. Gear up as necessary. You don’t want to build up any momentum though. The road is wide, smooth and well maintained. Switchbacks are also wide. There’s a good pullout at the top of the hill with a sign showing what the grade generally looks like. The grade percentage signs at each of the steeper sections though do not match what the large sign at the top of the hill suggests. They are actually steeper in some case. Take your time. It’s a short adventure!

Great job documenting your journey to a really amazing place! I'm planning a trip to BC this summer. You've inspired me to include Bella Coola. I think the guitar music you have in the background is great. May I ask who is playing?

Not quite a piece of cake trip . If a semi is delivering You back up until there is room for both . No guard rails keeping you from a death drop . Remember when visiting that it is bear and native people who are the majority .

You are right on all counts. It’s a long trek. The horsefly’s are viscous up near the top of the hill. I’ll be back as this is a stunning part of BC and the fishing is fantastic.
