Loved the museum! My father was born in 1923. He was drafted at the age of 19 after working for a couple of years, building LST ships in Evansville, Indiana. He fought WWII in Germany as a gunner in a Sherman tank. They called his unit the kid battalion because they were all teenagers. Men had to grow up fast back then. They were truly the Greatest Generation!

I got very excited seeing where my cousin lived during their time stationed in London. They hadda flat opposite Hyde park and speakers corner, where you know was very very busy in 1970. They hadda chance to buy the flat, i think i remember a couple hundred thousand dollars, and at the time they decided not to and regretted it till they both passed. There also was a American military club not far from there, but not sure where. Viet Nam was still blazing. I LOVE you videos bout the hotels and sights in London, mostly wish i saw some of it, but you know i was a little crazy as a 20 yr old

I was in London for the first time on October 10th, 2025. Sorry, I missed you! LOL, you have such an approachable personality and do such a great job of sharing your knowledge enthusiastically. I am sure that your students loved you as their teacher! When in London I stayed at the Clermont at Charing Cross, it was very nice and affordable, I highly recommend staying there, we walked to everything. I wish I would have planned on taking more time at The Tower of London, what a fascinating place! We did enjoy the Crown Jewels Museum. I love being a tourist! My other favorite place is Japan, what wonderful people and they have Disney's best theme park ever, DisneySeas, a must see.

I am guessing that the King doesn't know London like you do. Because of their limited ability to just walk around on their own, and only go to places with lots of security, the Monarchy are missing out on experiences only "commoners" can enjoy. That's just my guess. I choose common freedom! Thoughts?
@soozb159 күн бұрын
I think monarchs used to get around London in disguise. I kid you not. And Princesses Margaret and Elizabeth celebrated VE day in London without being recognised! Might be more difficult for royals now, because of social media and everyone knowing what they look like, and word would spread of their whereabouts in a second.
