Ima be honest, this thing isn't even good against 8.3 jets. This thing turns so TERRIBLY that if the Yak-38 gets anywhere near behind you, that is a massive skill issue. To die to it, you have to either deliberately put yourself in front of it, or be unaware for an absurd amount of time. This thing is so hilariously bad I bet even the AI pilots in air rb hate being in this goofy thing.

Fun fact, from the front and even side aspect, firing a rocket can work as a flare of sorts, sure two less R-60s is a downside but it means that A-10s cand missile you.

aim9L will hit yo ass easily since yak38 is even hotter than the phantom (I've killed them with aim9E head on from 1km away launch) and the game made S5 rockets have less flame thus reducing signature a lot and you know aim9L will prioritize heat signature size over intensity

3:55 The right move there was to turn into the A-10 and use one of your R60s to decoy his 9L. No way you're evading a 9L from 3km unless maybe you're already facing away from him and at top speed. You would be slower after turning hard into him so the other enemies might get you, or if he has another msl he might turn around and get you, but best to guarantee that you survive that first msl.

Not the F4Fs or P-40s. The F4Fs are 2.0 planes at best. The P-40s are ok for aircraft that should be 2.3-2.7 but there are a number of aircraft that should be 3.3-3.7 that are still 2.3-2.7. For US fly either the P-39N, P-36G, F2A-1 or F4U-1a USMC if you want low BR. The P-39 is the best overall in the sense that it can do a bit of everything and should be 3.3 at least. It outperforms the P-63A-10 below 2km and the P-63A-10 is at 4.0. The reason that the P-39N shouldn't be 4.0 itself is that it's engine is gasping for air by 4km. The F4U-1s should all be 3.7-4.0 with an air spawn. They have great overall performance but limited WEP and lack of climb rate means that patience and a heavy emphasis on hit and run tactics should be your focus with the F4U-1s. If you do fly the P-63 keep it above 300mph as much as possible. It has horrible performance sub 250mph. As Cheeki said for the Soviets the Yaks are the best. In general they are the best all round fighters at most BRs that you find them. La-5s are more hit and run low alt powerhouses and are worth looking into too. Just don't take Soviet fighters sub 4.7 in BR much above 4km or about 12k ft. They don't have the engine power to really fight above 4km.

@@dyazi7108 The D-5 is worse than the C-10. They should technically swap BRs. So long as you avoid the D-5 and D-20 all of the rest of the P-51s are good. The P-47D-28 and M are good but they require a very patient playstyle that requires a second teammate that will coordinate to get consistent success. The F8F-1 is a 5.7 plane down at 5.0 and the 1B is a solid plane itself. The F4U-4 and 4B are both still good even though their maneuverability has been nerfed to be close to reality. Really you got plenty of options in the US tree of at least good fighters. The bonus is that you want to fly them all relatively the same. When you learn the unique traits of each aircraft you can then be more aggressive in the unique ways that each aircraft allows. The problem is that the limitations of many US fighters punish over aggressiveness, overly passive play and poor team play pretty much equally. If you don't play them right to one extreme or the other they punish you while simultaneously punishing you for your team sucking. This is a good part in why US fighters get a bad rep with bad players.

problem with this one is its NOT cold ... those mid engines are still on and absolute magnets for IR missiles. i even tried to shut them off through some pretty insane MEC key combo (it was something like hitting 6-7 keys after takeoff to shut down those two engines while keeping the primary working) and still got locked by harriers from front aspect pretty often ...

@@Asghaad I'm not saying it because of the temperature but because of the distance, the maximum range of an R-60 to a plane moving away (cold) from the attacker is a maximum of 1.4km, and 1km if it goes to mach 1, while with the aim9l you can easily reach someone moving away at mach 1 at more than 2km

The solution to the issue is changing the matchmaker across the board to +/- 0.4 BR rather than +/- 1.0 BR. This not only makes playing in uptiers/downtiers more fair because you'll no longer really be facing shit that has a massive technological leap compared to you, but it also makes balancing current and future vehicles easier since they affect less around them. It also gives us decompression across the board instantly in the best way possible. This community is borderline retarded, sometimes more than Gaijin; and one of the best examples is people asking for "decompression" by raising the max BR. Its the worst method possible. (raising max BR should be reserved for addition of more and more advanced vehicles only) They dont realize doing that only helps the top end and does nothing for anything below that. It also will inevitably require a complete rework of the BR system, ruining the number ranges veteran players are familiar with; which just outright destroys familiarity across the board even for relatively new players. The BR system we have now is a wonderful foundation, it just needs to have the cracks fixed. Asking for BR decompression by raising the max BR will just destroy it outright. Lowering the MM BR range to +/- 0.4 will basically allow balancing with a scalpel rather than balancing with a sledgehammer. But at the same time in order for any balance to be truely achieved, we would also as a whole have to make Gaijin stop using "statistics" to balance and place vehicles and use veteran player opinions instead. Statistical balancing hasnt worked, and never will work; and gaijin has proven that over the last 8 years. Plus on top of that lowering the MM BR range is EASY and could be done quickly.

I have no other outlet to share this with so I must ask here if the snail will ever start banning airfield campers? Very close to getting jets with america and the sheer amount of airfield camping I constantly see is unbelievable. A disturbing trend I see is that it is significantly more likely for a high level player (100+) to be doing it, even though you would think they would have the best chance of dealing with any unfavorable circumstances. I swear half my games end with me circling the enemy airfield for 15 minutes straight, and you BEST BELIEVE right before they run out of tickets or the match times out they IMMEDIATELY try something. I've seen half your videos and I can tell this has been a problem since time began and yet... nothing has been done about it? A chill runs down my spine everytime I think of the sheer amount of time total wasted by these insects refusing to just take the goddamm L. I would really love to see a dev play air rb and stare into their eyes as the enemy team camps for 300 years straight right in front of them and then ask "this isn't bothering you at all is it?". Just make a separate game mode where AA doesn't exist, can't be THAT hard? I want to see every single one of these airfield camping rats plane's blown to smithereens.
