The Red Top's seeker should be way better like a lot of IR seekers in-game. Apparently it could get a front aspect lock on a Mach 0.9 Buccaneer from 3.5km away and also another bug report said that it could lock onto piston aircraft from at least 6.3km away in rear aspect.

It CAN get forward quarter shots... If the target is hot enough and within 1.2 miles. I've launched at plenty of supersonic MiG-21. You know how hot an aircraft is at mach 0.9? You know how many aircraft at 8.3 can go mach 0.9?

@@RedTail1-1 Supersonic MiG-21s aren't relevant to this. They have afterburners and thus should be even easier to lock onto and a lower speed wouldn't matter when the afterburner plume is visible. According to one of the bug reports, the Red Top could lock onto a Yak-28B in front aspect 10km away. While yes, Mach 0.9 would make it easier to get a lock in all-aspect, the effect wouldn't completely disappear if the speed is lowered for example to Mach 0.85 (1049km/h) which a lot of planes at 8.3 can reach.

@@kingghidorah8106 Not really. It's still a 12G missile so it can be dodged. It's just good for longer range snipes and at high altitudes. The SRAAM should also be getting a few buffs. It should also get the all-aspect capability that depends on the target's speed or afterburner and the range should be doubled.

​@@D.Peterson91 nah, still trash. Flight performance is garbage. Fuse is set for 20m so even if you manage to aim some of the missie right(missiles have inertia when turning) most likely they will do no damage. The gunfighter f89 is much more fun to play. The f89d desperately needs airspawn.

something i really really like about the sea vixen is how well it keeps its speed even in rather quick turns, in other similarly sized jets they flop out of the sky with one or two turns but the vixen just keeps on turning at full burn barely losing its speed

the all aspect of the red top should be alot better since in real life it was much more sensetive to engines that it was ingame, i find it hard to lock an f104 all aspect without dying to the guns since you have to get so close it should be around 2km the all aspect lock range. The only plane i can consistently get all aspect locks are probably J35s and Mig23BNs and F-4s

WOW Thanks man. The increased Range and Speed thanks to the reduced Drag rly make up for the Reduced G Load. Coulnt try out the All Aspect yet didnt had the right targets but the Fuze is still an Issue it still sometimes explodes at the target with proxy distance and doesnt do any real Damage. p.s. I love radar Slaving the Red Tops, its like the only IR missile i regulary use for that.

The thing with the Vixen, much like a few other aircraft, it that it's hardly ever going to carry a match. But it's one of those planes that once you see in your lobby, you have to make an effort to eliminate it quickly. If you let it run loose, it can severely turn the balance of the match towards its own team. Even worse, Vixen is a hard plane to catch up to at 8.7...

It's made the Sea Vixen feel so much more comfortable to play, no longer do you need to get within sniffing distance to kill people. I just hope it dosen't go to 9.0 As someone else has said, the Red Top ingame has a much weaker seeker than in real life. It should really be able to lock most if not all planes in front aspect from 1-2km away.

Am I the only one who sees this as an absolute nerf? The old red tops might have had very short range, but pulled so much harder. Now it's impossible to kill aware opponents, and even unaware ones sometimes dodge it. Having a high probability of kill for the missile was very important for the Sea Vixen and also gave it some chance in endgame situations. Having more range seems nice at first, but it gives the target much more time to maneuver and with less pull most maneuvers are enough to dodge it. Massive L for Sea Vixen and Lightning (as if it wasn't already dead).

I had the same feeling too after test driving warbond Sea Vixen. I don’t know how the Red Top used to behave, but it’s very easy to dodge now. I got only 1 kill in 3 games

So british missiles can now hit targets further then 1km? I guess this is a big buff, cause before enemies could just fly straight if you launch missile further then 1.4km and it will not catch up at all.

Not just that, but the reduced time before they start steering makes them more effective at close range too. Previously there was a very narrow sweet spot where they were effective. Too close and they'd miss because they didn't start guiding in time, too far and they'd run out of speed before they caught up with the target.

less boster = more real turning, R-3s turns better than AIM-9b because it is slower. so less thrust and less drag is a buff in more ways than one

What do you think will it still be as worth it when the Bizon releases? With the Bizon at 11.7 and Rank 8 it will be alot more expensive then the Sea Vixen but will be able to grind the entire tree

I hope that they either reverse the A-10/Su-25 move up after the update in the next BR changes, or move everything in else back up .3 or .7 post-update. If they’re going with decompression for these Cold War era aircraft, that seems the most likely. Like your 9.3s go to 9.7, 9.0s go to 9.3s, 8.7 to 9.0s etc. It was an unnecessary change overall but I can see them moving the Sea Vixen and everything else in that era up a BR.

They're putting the A-10/Su-25 up to 10.7 in ARB and that's a good riddance IMO. Should give breathing room to move things like the MiG-15bis/F-86F back to 8.7, MiG-17/CL-13 back to 9.0, and the early supersonics back to 9.7

Every other aircraft gets balanced around what it CAN carry, NOT how it operates once those missiles are expended. These are not fighter aircraft. They are not meant for air superiority. They are meant to be used when air supremacy or superiority is achieved, not when it is actively contested. The fact they get all aspect missiles when many of their opposing planes don't even get flares as is should shut this nonsensical train of thought down. They can be moved up, and guess what? It will likely bring more diversity and interesting game play back compared to now. It is the players that use this train of thought, your present that cause the problem in the first place, thinking 'self defense missiles' mean 'offensive combat fighter'.

Gaijins’s two statements surrounding them didn’t bring their missiles into the discussion beyond saying they were purely for self-defense. And I agree. There should be some inherent threat or deterrent to make going after an airframe that is slower than you, can’t climb as fast as you, doesn’t retain speed or entry in any type of maneuver. Moving them up was purely to provide a crutch to a playerbase that refuses to do anything other than fly low and fly left. Don’t use the other 98% of the map to flank or the 20,000 or so feet worth of altitude to top attack from. “I’m going to continue head-on attacking these slow, low flying ground pounders despite the fact that my fighter was designed to hunt or escort high altitude bombers and their escorts. It was to appease the biggest case of “skill issue” to date. We will gloss over how rare it was to even see them in a match given the 10.0-11.3 premium spam. But hey, now they get face F-14s with Aim-54s and 27Rs with a forward spawn that will highlight them before anyone else. Gaijin didn’t sound happy to move these so hopefully after the update, in the next round of BR changes, Gaijin will move them back because they’ll become next to useless. Not too mention the fact that they had a price tag to them.

I can't wait until i play the F-15c the TWS ,AIM 120, and the HMD will be a huge upgrade in sim. But they should fix the HMD by making it that you can toggle it on/off regardless of your radar mode like in DCS and real life , and you should be able to slave mavericks and your targeting pod with your the HMD, And it should stay vissible after getting the lock

During the early 60s Firestreak and red tops would have been world leaders. Firestreak were much better than sidewinder Bs as this was also stated by Ian Black the last Lightning pilot who also flew American fighters. Firestreak when tested were used against spitfire and firefly drones with great success. So the point of them meeting f-86 and mig 15s and early jets is were it should be. The radar at its level should also be the most powerful. Firestreak also downed a runaway Harrier after the pilot had to eject plus a Hercules transport where an American aircrew member took leave of his senses and stole one from a uk base in an attempt to go home, all crew at a lightning base were grounded and one lightning took off with two firestreak and came back with one the very next day a report of the Hercules that had crashed into the sea !?

f-86 is much more of a problem, especially for 7.0s, it can outrun them, it can outturn them, has easy to use guns and sabre can't be dodged by rolling, unlike mig-15
