What has kept me watching, supporting and loving this channel the last nearly 4 years is just how incredible Jake and the crew are for not only doing these clean-ups but also inspiring interest in viewers to go out and do the same in places around them. Such a loud voice in spreading awareness about water pollution as well as a major force to take action in water cleanup ❤️

Makes me kinda sad that there's so many crappy people just throwing this stuff in lakes but at the same time glad there's people that are doing something about it and even found a way to make it fun, entertaining and profitable.
@northidahogurl9992 жыл бұрын
Right I can't get passed the dumping in the water supply? I mean people are just si ignorant selfish for sure. I mean leave it on the land or beach just don't throw it in the water. The homeless around here move themselves into the woods and then they leave everything imaginable. It's so disturbing. 😡 my husband and u started getting information that says whose stuff addresses etc anything identifying who dumped their house in my woods. So we and many other clean up what people leave behind and heck I have items in my house I kept lol. But forest service is grate to anyone who can help turn the mess in clean up if you can because it cost forest service to dump garbage. So we try to do our part so we can keep what we love until they ruin it for us. When u find broken glass (beer bottles) poopy diapers in the rivers streams lakes I just get so angry. Why do not people appreciate what we have been given to enjoy frustrated in Coeurd'Alene
@lindalee98682 жыл бұрын
In this area there are alot of the homeless people and drug addicts. I and surprised there were not alot of needles on the magnets. In some areas in Orange county where they did cleanups, there were thousands of pounds of trash, crap, needles. It is sick.

By far the most disturbing thing about this is just the sheer amount of stuff people just throw into ponds... _-_ So many electric scooters... It shows how much people care about littering too. Not very much... I believe littering fines should be closer to $1,000 everywhere and enforced harder than seatbelts. 👍

So although Jake didn't state in the video, based on the shape of the pond/lake and the land markers at and around the park this looks like MacArthur Park in LA. If that is the case many of you may be happy to hear that the lake (as they call it from the website) as well as the park is going through a beautification process. Part of that process is supposed to be draining the lake to remove trash and garbage from the bottom. So hopefully it will get better.

An interesting side project he could do is try restoring some of the stuff he finds. I have watched so many videos of him picking and dredging stuff up from the bottom of lakes and rivers for so long it would be kinda cool to see him bring some of those things to like their former glory. He might also find it fun learning new things. Knives would be easy, though it would be awesome seeing him take on a big challenge like getting one of those electric scooters working. Heck if it is those public use scooters they might have a repair facility that would be cool with him coming by and seeing what they do.

In ponds with little or no water flow, they usually have some sort of aerator to prevent the buildup of the stuff that makes it stink. Maybe you should get a small raft or a piece of plywood floating on inner-tubes to stack the stuff you pull up onto.

You'd think pierce-proof gloves would be the topmost priority for equipment.
@katim31113 жыл бұрын
Holy cow. THIS is in California? Why isn't the EPA involved and charging this city's officials with not cleaning up this environmental hazard. This pond should be raked/scraped/filtered from one edge to the other every year. This is horrible and pisses me off to hear Californian politicians and rich people complain about climate change when they can't even clean up their own surroundings.
@ststst9813 жыл бұрын
This is an incredibly tiny man-made lake. I dont think the EPA are too concerned with little pools of water
@mynameiswrm Жыл бұрын
Just a thought, but maybe next time, you could use a plastic floating boat or a kayak to pull along with you. That way, you can just throw whatever you find, assuming it's not too big, into that and just keep going! 🤙

@sandranokes74433 жыл бұрын
I think they need to just drain the whole thing and clean it out. It just boggles my mind at what people will throw away into a body of water. All those scooters I think just some kid or kids grabbed them and road them off into the water for kicks and giggles. It would be nice if someone could fix part of those and donate them to kids who can't afford a bike. Instead of a magnet in this place, you just needed a scoop! This is just crazy!

I would assume if anyone throws something that they dont want to be found, they throw it as far from the edge as they can. if they want to find it again, just hide it for now, they would just put it right in the corner in easy to find spot, so near that powerful fountain for example.

Should be a $1,000 fine minimum for anyone polluting any waterway or property. Criminals should be force to clean pollution. Criminals should be on conveyor belts sorting trash. That's a great deterrent. Not choice, give them a taste of going into polluted waters like that lake and they will think twice about doing anything illegal again.
@kelbiechampion.sturgis32573 жыл бұрын
It's not a natural lake it's man made & most the people who pollute it are homeless so if you give them a fine it won't get paid back ... That have tried cleaning it before the urban area has a large & dense population
