I have 2 theories: 1) They just took the the parts of the in game gun's 3D model, dragged them apart, took a screenshot, sent it to one of their artists and said "Trace over this to make an image that looks like a diagram." 2) They had a real diagram, and then just erased and rearranged things so that it looked more **aesthetic**.

I think I can explain why its so jank and cursed. Its a real simple reason: because licensing. They basically did visually what valve did with counter-strike/source for their entire arsenal where to not have to pay licensing fees for using the name/likeness they just made shit up. It is visually close enough to the actual thing without breaching a licensing clause in which they'd have to pay to use it in game which means its absolutely cursed in every possible way. Looks like that trend is alive and well because game makers really don't like having to pay firearms manufacturers money for anything and justifiably so. You can typically tell which licenses they were okay with buying based on what name they gave the weapon in game. If its 1:1, they bought the license, if its nighthawk:1 they didnt. This looks like a graphic designer in-house made it as simple as possible to appear as close as possible without breaching license, and as for the name while it is a licensed weapon name there is a clear distinction in how they drew the blow up model in relation to the name in that its not a 1:1 design:name situation so no claim can be filed for copyright proceedings. I've spoken with copyright lawyers in the past about similar subjects and it really is that simple to avoid having a copyright issue and there are enough points you've mentioned to disqualify it from being infringement if say Armalite or Colt wanted to be predatory about it.

The reason the stock lacks any internal buffer components is because on airsoft guns it's just a shell for a battery and wiring connectors. Same reason the upper has no details except for a little nipple at the front and the barrel has the weird shank at the back. This is someone who only had access to an aeg producing what would pass for a parts diagram sight unseen.

That barrel shank looks like the one on my old Airsoft SPAS-12, maybe they deleted the parts that made it clear it was a diagram of a spring-operated bolt-action BB gun and hoped nobody would notice. It certainly wouldn't be the first time a CoD gun had visible Airsoft parts, pistols used to always have problems with avoiding having a gas filling port in the bottom of the magazine.

That lower is also missing the angled portion where the grip screw threads into, so that A1.5 grip is definitely being held on with JB weld and dreams. The upper could be maybe a C7 upper? Pretty sure those are just A1 uppers with brass deflectors. The upper is also missing the threads for the barrel nut to grab onto, and I'm not sure what that post is coming out the front of it. I swear, the proportions and missing/extra "features" kinda make me think the devs just broke all the bits off a cheap electric airsoft gun and said "Yep this'll work."

My speculation is that this diagram was cobbled together from a really old asset set from one of the more futuristic games. One of those holograms that’s supposed to “take apart” the gun without being a full exploded diagram, it’s just supposed to look ok for like 2 seconds in a cutscene.
