A lot of golfers don't seem to realise: golf is three games, not one. 1. Off the tee/long irons etc 2. Pitching/chipping./bunkers etc 3.Putting. A child of 6 - or less - could do putting. Easily. So maybe start there.

Low runner, medium two hop and flop shot wedge reps are good. Knockdown driver is also very useful instead of 3W.

I commented from my personal account on your Five Lessons video. I think this practice strategy is really interesting. Especially the one armed swings. Ever noticed when you chip balls off the chipping green, for example, with one hand how your right arm stays tucked to your side? Just walking along flicking them off the green
@thescratchplanАй бұрын
That’s a great observation! I think that’s one of the biggest things I get out of the one-armed swings. The right arm is so much more stable.

To piggyback onto your practice routine…another thing I like to do at the range is a virtual course in my head. So I will pick a total yardage (let’s say 500) and then drive the ball at my intended target.. then I will switch to an iron (or wood) and finish with a wedge. Constantly rotating different clubs since in a real game you don’t get a chance to get dialed in with multiple shots using one club… you are constantly changing clubs and get one shot at hitting your target. Clubs I am less confident with I hit more to get comfortable with anything in my bag.
@thescratchplan2 ай бұрын
@@Milkywaymike I’ll have to try this! Sounds like a great idea! 💡

Seems inefficient though. The best way to get better at doing something is to do it over and over. Only hitting driver every 4 shots is a slower way to improve driver.
@thescratchplan2 ай бұрын
@@electricalstuff259 Also a good point. It depends on if you are working on course management or a specific club I suppose
@ajack33802 ай бұрын
I use this approach as well. I start with a warmup, then some specific work I need to do (maybe a troublesome club) then finish with a virtual round to put pressure on each shot. Hitting shot after shot with the same club creates repetition (good), but don’t test whether you can replicate it after you’ve hit other different clubs/shots. This mixes it up a bit.

@ Absolutely. Both have their place!

Take a driver, PW, SW, and putter to the range. One bucket with the wedges and one bucket with the driver. Putt 30 min. Total 2.5 hours per session 3 times a week. All year long and you’re in the 70s next season.

How many swings are you taking for the wedge wizardry drill and what's the objective?
@thescratchplan2 ай бұрын
@@ryonrivera87 I forgot to include that! I choose two distances from the list and hit 25 balls to each distance. Track how many land within 10% of the total distance. (Rough estimate but 50 yards should land within 5 yards, 120 yards should land within 12 yards). Enter score on the spreadsheet for personal best and update it any time you beat it.
