This video is a tribute to one of my favorite Natalie Wood movies & it's called "This Property Is Condemned."
Natalie stars with Robert Redford in this movie based on a Tennessee Williams play about a railroad official(Redford) who comes to Dodson Mississippi to fire the men working for the railroad which is the town's main income so naturally when people find out why he's there he becomes a very unwelcome visitor & is attacked by the men in retaliation. Alva Starr(Natalie Wood) is the town flirt with stars in her eyes & when she meets Owen she falls in love but her mother doesn't approve of their relationship & causes them to break up & when Owen goes to New orleans without Alva she is heartbroken & angry so in a drunken rage she marries J.J. but Alva is determined to be with him so she joins him & all is well until Alva's mother visits & tells Owen about Alva's marriage to J.J. & about her robbing him..Alva is so distressed that she runs away in the rain & contracts Pnemonia & sadly dies.
In the scene where Natalie is drunk she actually got drunk for that scene & I think it just shows what a good actress she is.
If you would like to see this movie it is in my playlist so feel free to check it out.
Feel free to comment. God Bless!!

Who didn't fall in love with Natalie Wood from this movie!... she was naturally beautiful. the movie was out 1966 but I didn't see it till it came to television. I must have been about 12 or 13... the thing about it, I could feel all the emotion that was happening in it, the anger, the frustration the hopelessness in that town, and the sexual tension between Redford and Natalie,( Owen & Alva) man I was wanting them to get together but Alva died. I was so hurt even though it's only movie I can watch it today and still feel the same way.

This is a classic. i remember watching it on shag carpet in the early 70's and just fell in love with her and the movie. Today I own it and every few years I pull it out. Tennessee Williams is an true artist and Icon. Bravo! Thank you for posting this.

More trivia: The girl in the torn, red gown is Birmingham native Mary Badham, who made her mark as "Scout", in "To Kill a Mockingbird", her first film. The boy is John Prevost. Old timers will recall that he starred with June Lockhart in the "Lassie" TV series, of the 1960's. This film was filmed in northern Mississippi and in and around New Orleans. When I go back to Jackson Square, I like to tell tourists about the Natalie Wood/Robert Redford scene around the reflecting pool you encounter, ad you exit St Louis Cathedral and enter Jackson Square. This little known film also features Charles Bronson and Robert Blake, better known as "Mickey" in the MGM "Little Rascals" shorts. Thank You for posting this excellent video. This IS an amazing, yet seemingly unknown movie. Shame

One of my favourite movies.. my daughter Natalie Boot was named after Natalie Wood, and the song WISH ME A RAINBOW became our song. and was a souce of solace and comfort to my Natalie while incarcerated in a henderson detention centre for 8 long months waiting to be deported to england for not having proper immigration paperwork after having lived in the usa for 45 years. i could do nothing more than send her OUR SONG. to comfort her ,,,,,, thank you Robert Redford and Natalie Wood !

What a wonderful tribute video to a movie classic and a song that is dear to my heart.. I remember watching this as a little girl and being mesmerized by the characters and the story. I'd always check the TV guide to see if it was playing and with each viewing I'd to write down more lyrics of this haunting melody. Decades after hearing it for the first time, it became the first "lullaby" I sang to my daughter. And here it is, January 1st 2021, she's now a college freshman and it's the first song I play in this new year. May this lovely melody usher in health and happiness to us all.

This is one of my top 5 all time favorite movies, and I have hummed and whistled this song for years. I decided today to Google the song, and was thrilled to find your video. Natalie Wood played tragic roles and her life ended so tragically as well. Another favorite is Splendor in the Grass. Thank you for posting!!!

Love this movie and loved this song. I sang it to my daughter when she was a baby and it always calmed her and put her to sleep. I changed the words a bit so it was just for her. "wish me a rainbow, wish me a star. A wish you can wish me wherever you are. Tears for my pillow and stars for my eyes. I love you little Jeana, kiss, kiss night, night." She's 17 now and still remembers it.

Thank you for the poignant remainder. The dramatic talent and charm of Natalie and the charismatic composure of Robert Redford complemented each other. Great, timeless story, iconic actors; Bronson, Reid also including. Too bad Natalie was underestimated as a dramatic actress (no Oscar for her part in "Splendor in the grass" and for this movie for example)... well let alone she fell in love with some pathetic megalomaniacs. The rest is history anyway...

+Steve Jump Do you know of the back story on this as far as all the writers going nuts writing various drafts of the screenplay (the 15 minute Williams play seemed to be more of how Alva and Owen met). But there is another ending and it was changed although just as sad really.

In another ending it had Alva working the RR station, which I would have even hated more than this ending. I was always a little mad at Owen for not being totally on Alva's side. Maybe if he hadn't had given her that look right before she ran out the door in the rain and/or if Willie had mentioned that in the end "Owen never left her side" or something to that affect it would have somehow not have seemed so sad.
