Hi Tomley, from Wiltshire. I just had a light bulb moment about your style and type of rc, that you run . And what the other person , no name , but starts with a k. He is all fast and bash no matter what . And you are chilled running through the mud , with lower cost rc, cars. That is why I have come over to crawlers. Because of you I have got into small scale crawlers , and have started to build 1:24 LCG. from parts only ( ebay ). Anyway still dont drink coffee lol . Have fun playing in the mud ! .

Thanks mate. I’m doing an LCG 1/24 soon as well. 👌

If you're going to go through mud and water like that perhaps plain and simple is a good way to go. There is an argument engineering wise for metal bearing bushes in a lot of applications. No catastrophic failures for one. Great vid as always.

Yes, easy to maintain. I washed it down, dried it and sprayed a bit of lube on the moving parts. Tools the bead lock wheels apart and dried the foams. About an hrs work but will keep this going for a while

Looks lovely. Element do some really good stuff. FYI, regarding the plastic links: scuffed-up plastic slides over rocks much easier than scuffed-up metal. So, it should hang-up less.

Crawler Canyon has been working on his SE that he calls "baseline" and he used the spacious front between the rails as a way to mount a small battery directly onto the steering servo Battery on Servo on Axle (BoSoA because funny acronyms are funny) and it seems to have done him really well. Not only does it bring the weight forward, but it makes the battery weight become unsprung!

Element is just the Crawling branding of Team Associated, which are by far some of the best in the industry. This line of crawlers are awesome and bombproof. Another good budget option (at least in North America) is RedCat. The Gen 7 Pro is still a beast. It's an Axial clone that's really well built and super cheap.

I am definitely considering this as a basher crawler the links are cheap and easy to change, probably have a set in the spares bin, the bushings make life easier as long as you have marine grease in the axle to protect the diffs water. But I think the bushes in the gear box will need upgrading to bearings. I’m surprised that it’s an entry level rig that’s on so many veteran crawler shopping lists. The bed looks “sunk” lower than most, which is also a nice result.

I’d prefer this over the Axial Basecamp mainly due to the forward motor mount. I’m not a fan of center mounted motors at all. Stainless links on Amazon are inexpensive as are bearings. For $300 this is a good deal. Yes there are less expensive options from Bangood, but at least in the US there’s not really anything with better parts support for this price other than maybe a Redcat Gen8
@TomleyRC Жыл бұрын
Yes, cheaper and way better looking than the Basecamp
@cheseborger Жыл бұрын
I too am in favor of the Gen8 (mainly because I own one) and also because it comes with an International body. I don't think any other company has trail trucks with International bodies. It may also have to due to the fact the purple color they use is very nice.
