Hope you find some use out of the Relight effect, I know I will in the future. 😏 I've added chapters in the description for those of you that would like to dive straight into DaVinci!

Had to use relight quite a bit on a documentary project that I had to color grade. Amazing tool. Draw back is, it is slow as molasses to render. Just go to bed and let it render overnight if used a lot on bigger projects.

I bet, that doc must have been quite a beast to render! I’m going to try it out on a couple of talking heads in a video I’m editing right now, so I guess I might be finding out soon…

The relight feature of resolve looks really neat. I’ve got to get around to trying it at some stage, but I think the 2020 M1 Mac I’m using May struggle a bit with it.

Sure thing! I relatively recently decided to upgrade to a Mac Studio, so I went all in and maxed out everything except hard drive space. Don’t have all the details in front of me, but it was the M2 Ultra with the top specs you could order at the time, in January sometime this year. Very happy with everything (except the price tag haha).

for some reason this effect does not work on my M1 MACBOOK PRO. i apply relight and nothing is working - no preview map, no changing of lights nothing. and ofc i have studio. any tips?
@chrisjohnsson
@chrisjohnsson 5 ай бұрын
Hmm, hard to tell. One guess might be that it is taking a lot longer to calculate the environment. Try it on a shorter clip and maybe lower the preview resolution would be my start. Hopefully that helps!

That’s why I added the chapters, because I know do like to ramble a bit. ☺️ They can be found in the description and often at the bottom of the video so it’s easy to jump straight to the point for people in a hurry.

can you talk about video editing and stay on a still image all long? the most interesting part would be to see the video, not the still image. I know it's long to render but come on !
