I drive a tow truck for our local police, and even they know that when they call me, if i tell them I am out with the family, they need to find someone else. Edit: I wanted to add that you should never let money get in the way of what's important. Life is short, material things can be replaced. I see people everyday act like their life is ruined because their car got messed up. I make it a point to emphasize at every accident site that cars can be replaced. YOU can't! The car is built to sacrifice itself so that you may live on, it just an appliance that can be replaced. This seems to resonate with people. Some are relieved by it and look at me while I work with a sense of undeserved reverence, some then regard the car that they were just driving as some piece of trash that I am now picking up for them like the garbage man does for the trash they put out on the curb, some elevate the car as if it were their buddy that jumped on a grenade that was meant for them. I have even been asked to participate in a religious ceremony in blocked off active lanes of a freeway. People are strange and diverse, and indescribably beautiful in their own ways and how they connect with their cars! But, I am indescribably grateful to be the positive face that they see when their formerly beautiful car, which is now a twisted ball of metal (but the people inside are alright) is being hauled away to eventually be recycled.

I did something similar to this where I setup 1 VM for each person in the household, and then connected Raspberry Pis to every gaming setup in the house. I then installed Parsec Server on each of the VMs, and setup Parsec client on each Raspberry Pi. I also setup the Parsec software on my older laptop, so I can stream games to that too. With this setup, I can stream my games from the VM over the network to any device I want to play on. You should try setting something like this up in a future video. It would allow you to save $$$ on graphics cards, since you only need 1 for each person, rather than for each gaming setup, and you can even use this setup on a laptop, which allows you to game anywhere you can get a 5ghz wifi connection.

I bet internet cafes in Asia could save a good deal of money with systems like these. You'd need a company doing this commercially with certified software releases etc (for absolute reliability since someone's business is depending on it) but it could save some in electricity costs, allow for denser packing of customers, and reduce risk of damage due to an unruly customer.
@TheHerobrineKiller5 жыл бұрын
Well, it actually cause problems here, first off the people here isn't very nice on bandwidth. We are running a HDD-less system on PCs, every computers will run on a server, PXE. And everything would work well, until someone start bashing on the network and cause issues with other people, of course workaround like 2 servers would work, but the budget we have here isn't much, and people just start bashing stuff when they lose a game, not really a good choice
@drsupergood89785 жыл бұрын
Unlikely to save money. The motherboard and CPU shown alone cost more than 4 Ryzen 3600 processors with low end motherboards while performing considerably worse (worse memory timings, worse boost clock). The USB extenders being used cost more than a decent gaming PC each, although with economy of scale the per unit cost could be lowered. Especially if one is happy with last generation GPUs and processors one could likely buy 8+ gaming machines for the cost of the setup shown, not counting the very expensive GPUs Linus has which alone are another 4+ gaming machines in value. Then there is the point of failure. If one gaming machine goes down only that system is out of order and can be worked on. If the gaming server goes down that is 8 or more gaming terminals out of order. One or more redundant gaming servers may be needed which costs more money on hardware. I do agree that it would likely save money with power. If this justifies the considerably larger cost is unlikely.

if you cut a hole for the plate in the wall and poke a flashlight in it, the cord can be dangled exactly where needed, and the cable can even be secured with an exact amount of slack for an eased bend. also, if you can manage to loosely attach the fiber to a stud or tape it to the drywall on the far side of the inside of the wall a few inches above the plate hole, you can control the bend even better. Ideally, you want each fiber to have one slack reel, usually zip tied somewhere in the attic or similar space.

I cannot recommend the Chrome Extension "The Great Suspender" high enough to solve this problem. I regularly run with hundreds of tabs across many (9-12) windows with zero performance problems whatsoever. Combined with "Tabli", to keep them all organized and accessible (and searchable!).. it's changed the way I use the internet.
@kristoffer30004 жыл бұрын
@@THE-X-Force Thanks, if this works like it seems like it does you just made Chrome a lot more enjoyable for me, I'm also a complete tab hoarder.

@THE-X-Force4 жыл бұрын
@CooCooWizard You can lock a window, or an individual tab, multiple tabs, or all windows from being suspended. Nothing gets "refreshed" unless you want it to. Nothing gets suspended unless you want it to. Try looking at the settings and the right click menu.
@THE-X-Force4 жыл бұрын
@CooCooWizard I don't even understand your point. It doesn't stop tabs that you are using, unless you tell it to, so if you are using the tabs then what is the problem? I set it to suspend tabs that I haven't touched in half an hour. When I want that tab, I go back to it, click it, and it wakes up. If I don't, it stays suspended. Yes, a tab that is not suspended is .. not suspended.. but wtf are you talking about? Of course the tab you are actively using is not going to get the benefit of being suspended. How could it? It's not suspended. YOU ARE USING IT. You can set ANY tab to NEVER suspend. You can set EVERY tab, any combination of tabs, any window, any combination of windows and/or tabs to NEVER SUSPEND. So, whatever it is that you want to never suspend, will never suspend. Unless you want it to. Whatever you are doing, trust me, you're doing it WRONG. Sorry pal. P.S. it's really obvious when you "like" your own comments. Kinda sad.

This is actually fun because this approach was 50 years ago with IBM mainframes, where one big computer had several connected clients. The history is looping... But it looks absolutely impractical now for the home usage in terms of too expensive connectors (and it will be worse because the cables and interfaces are faster and more critical to length), and load balancing for VMs can be tricky. And an electricity consumption of this PC can be an issue - is it going to run 24hr even is nobody using it? Would be interesting to connect a power meter to it and see results. But as a fun proof of concept, it's cool.
