I remember Open All Hours in Bowness, it was open until about 2001/02 The gritter used to go past and cover all the fruit and veg in road salt 😅

Gosh we had a pretty parallel childhood: Morecombe, Blackburn, Blackpool and now Bowness! My dad taught me to sail a GP14 at Windemere aged 4 (yes it's always 4 because that's when he buggered off to Africa). My most enduring memory of Bowness is being mugged by a swan for my peanut butter sandwiches. I did not see Bowness for over 40 years and tried to take a friend from NZ on the way back from the Edinburgh festival in 2017. It was peak season and the only parking was an overflow car park about 2 miles away. I gave up.

Great video Lee. We did the steam train and the boat ride across the lake which was fabulous. Then we went for the fish and chips which was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. Agree about the ice cream though really nice 👍

She was really Lovely and she knew how to Dress Accordingly. A very Happy memory for You Lee. I do not Agree at all with Costa Coffee Cafe and Domino's having places in such a Beautiful village Lee. You really Local Business's and Family run Cafe's and Restaurants. The Restaurant you chose Lee, was very Beautiful and Modern. Your Prawn Cocktail looked very Tasty, it should have come in a Huge Wine Goblet with Brown Bread and Butter. Your Main Course Lee, was very Well presented on your Plate, Your Sausage looked way to small for a Cumberland, Beautiful cooked Vegetables with Chips and thick rich Gravy. All together a very Nice meal and very Good value for Your Money Lee. Your Refund was a very Kind gesture of them. I would Score this Establishment: The Quayside and it's Customer Service and it's rather Lovely Restuarant a Generous 10+/10. I would have left a Gratuity for the Crew of Food and Beverage Servers.

You made me feel a bit homesick. I lived just outside Bowness ( locals say Bonus) for 25 years. Moved after being flooded twice. The Porto Restaurant used to be “ The Place” to eat.There are too many “trendy bars”. The Canada Geese make The Glebe a mess due to the tourists feeding them .

I reccomend boardwalk bar and grill for food, the any pork in a storm burger is one of the best burgers i have tasted, yes it's £17 but it's well worth it in my opinion and a lovely view of the lake.

I was there last year. Stayed over two nights in Windermere on the way back from Scotland. We were at the Windermere hotel. Wonderful buffet breakfast. But the evening meal was bad. What with dogs allowed in, it was unbearable. Our favourite restaurants in the area had gone or changed hands. Wife trained in this area as a chef, Before the French restaurant in Canterbury. Bowness was overcrowded. I called it a mini Blackpool at night. Had changed so much.

Bowness beautiful place to visit very hilly last time I was there in 2009& those swans can be really aggressive beautiful scenic views. I’d give your meal 8/10. I agree prawn cocktail should be in a glass but good service&excellant view not bad price for the food plus got bit if a refund as well know said food could been but better hopefully enjoyed your experience there. Great video Lee that Chinese restaurant had nice food last time we were it just looks worse, that it is and for decent chips there’s a chippy just past the John Peel pub, if that still there and the have been the best chips, since the 70s when we have been there and that one problem,with the lakes they charge more 👍👍

Another good video mcmaster, on a different subject was talking to a friend of mine and how debate was in terms of football hospitality. Usually football hospitality means that you can watch your football team in style... by getting comfortable seats whilst watching the football alongside this you get a meal! big question is are you really getting a value for money or is the football clubs milking you dry by giving you average food and charging vast some's of money. My example, Aston Villa are charging nearly £800 per person for their champions league match against Bayern Munich. Yes £800! can anyone justify paying that just for three hours of entertainment. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this or maybe a video sharing your experience... maybe at your beloved Forest or Mansfield. Plus a food review would be interesting.
