James Burton’s Paisley Tele’ jumps straight into mind. ‘… we’re caught in a trap’. Thanks for this - and all the Scotty Moore. Today is another great day.

I agree however it was the great Reggie Young who came up with this riff and played on the Elvis recording of this tune.

At first thought it was "I've got a feeling" played after drinking a Red Bull can in one go.

I assume that the riff is from "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis. Great guitar work as always Thom! BTW, love that Tee Shirt that you are wearing! Hope that all is well with you & your family! 👍👍🎸🎸

Reggie Young... 1969. He just kind of thought this thing up in the studio in Memphis when Elvis was there. I think he plays it a little differently than you do, as you mention. I know his bridge is played differently. Then I have seen James Burton play this tune. He seems to play it the way you play it here with more open chords. In any event, it's a great riff and you do a really nice job, as always. Thank you Guitar Pilgrim. Love your videos. sw (subscriber)

Thanks for the tutorial, I'd probably play the open chords version. But nobody's going to notice unless the singer doesn't channel his inner Elvis

Ain't no doubt ... that Reggie Young riff ain't real easy to play, but you did pretty good. I wonder if you play the James Burton lead electric guitar intro, solo and fills from the Judy Collins version of Someday Soon as found on the studio album Who Knows Where the Time Goes? NOT the Buddy Emmons Steel parts ... a LOT of vids out there on that ... but NOBODY on YT has ever done the James Burton stuff. That is a shame because this tune REALLY helped to get Country Rock rolling back in the day. I'll keep asking.
