1) The main reason which i think is that new gen chips be it snapdragon or mediatek doesn't support custom rom development. Especially mediatek with their dimensity series. 2) Bootloader unlocking has now become much difficult compared to how it was used to be. Until 2021 bootloader unlocking was super easy in phones like Xiaomi, realme and oneplus but now you can't. Xiaomi and Oneplus still does but custom rom developments are not that good. 3) Many companies, primarily bbk group does not allow you to unlock bootloaders and even many banking apps does not work on your device if your bootloader is unlocked like hdfc. You have to use magisk delta for it which is not for everyone.

custom rom developer here. I can say why its dead now - phones are too secure and unlocking the device is harder - AOSP as is is very limited. All of the important apps that you use like dialer,messaging etc are deliberately kept out of date. flash gapps. - many of the good developers between 2012-2018 moved on for their own careers or got busy with personal life. - no incentive for developers to keep up the good work despite being popular. (unless you get hired by some company)

I'm using Crdroid Custom rom on my Redmi 9 power and i can say this rom is amazing and because of this rom my phone is literally working better than before. I got unlimited photos and videos storage, got amazing customisations and a very good stability. Stability is perfect. Not going to switch on any other rom Crdroid is the best rom i have ever flased.

Actually the reason of shifting from stock to custom rom is to get better bb ,less heating and good performance also the company slow down the phone after few yrs and doesnt give more than 2 Android update its better to shift in custom rom than to live in stock😂

I've used lots of rom with Motorola phone But now with the realme problem is that , it's process is much longer & time consuming. 1st u've to flash different regions rom for bootloader unlock, then you can flash c rom So currently I have no plan to move towards that, especially as long as I'm getting a software update Maybe later I may change my mind 🙂

Its actually quite correct to say that government should implement a law for "thirdparty official roms" support for devices. This can reduce ewaste so munch that even modular phones also can be achieved... I think of it like modern pc builds like situations were parts can be interchanged os can be changed etc.... since all of them are just computers why shouldn't it be possible

Ok let me tell you a story. Dhyan se padhna. Recently my Realme 3 Pro got stolen and I bought a Redmi note 10 pro at 10k with my 2 months saving from facebook marketplace. That 10k was my 2 months saving so you can guess my income. I was using the device with stock OS which was MIUI 13 based on android 13 and the battery backup was not great as it was a 2 yr old device. From past 2 months there was not a single update delivered to my device not even security patch(although I don't care about security patch update). I had seen some of the Redmi note 10 pro running on MIUI 14 but my device got no update idk why. As a low budget tech enthusiast i rooted my phone after applying and waiting for 7 days. After the approval from Redmi the process was seamless. Journey After Rooting: - First I installed Rising UI which had a ton of customisation, but the battery backup was trash, like 2-3 hours backup and on MIUI I was getting abt 4-5 hrs of battery backup. From past 7 week I am using Project Elixr which is in my opinion is the best ROM for Redmi note 10 Pro and yes, this rom is based on A13. I am getting a battery backup of 5-6 Hrs. Best part is this ROM has auto refresh rate of 60/120 hz. Previously I was not able to use anything but 60 hz due to battery concern. Opinion On Security/Banking App- Everything working fine, apps like Paytm, Gpay, SBI YONO are not having any issue, but Phonepe isn't working. Somehow its detecting root. Yeah, there is a simple solution for that too you have to use ISLAND app which is available at play store. In my opinion you don't need to pretend like Ambani about Ur security concerns. If you are that concern, go and get an iPhone. Final Opinion- Till today custom ROM and the great community and the developers are life savers for people like me.
