Fun facts that didn't make it into the video: Charlotte most likely destroyed all of Anne and Emily's writing about Gondal to save them any embarrassment after their deaths. A lot of the surviving evidence of Anne and Emily's game came from a set of diary papers that they wrote and then locked away for four years at a time - only opening the box every four years on Emily's birthday to read what they'd written in the past and to write a new entry. Gondal was important enough to them to feature in nearly every single diary entry. A ton of articles I read are determined to do everything they can to diminish the importance of these games or insist that the sisters were smart enough to avoid it being a bad influence.

It's so sad that they think like that when you consider how much rpgs have a role on people these days too. So many games and films are influenced by games like DnD. Roleplays can help with world building and writing so much.

A collaborative writing group is how I got into roleplaying in the first place. I had done collaborative writing/roleplaying with friends before, but in highschool I joined a forum that was about writing fanfiction about a particular television show, but everyone had their own characters they added as well and everyone's stories contained all these characters. The only rules we used were mostly unspoken, be considerate to everyone else, support each other's ideas and those sorts of things. Some of us contributed artwork as well, drawing each other's characters or illustrating things we found important in the stories. There was no head editor or DM, though I suppose the final authority would've been the owner/person who ran the forum. It seems almost like a fantasy nowadays to have a group like this, but I absolutely credit that experience with influencing me in very positive ways with regards to writing, roleplaying and working on collaborative projects.

Holy moly you guys, have I got an idea. We basically play Glass Town, but our version is that we write and edit a newspaper for the Onett Times. It even comes complete with short stories like the one that Ness found when he bought that seaside shack. Dang you guys, this is the idea of the century, don't let it go to waste.

One usually doesn't imagine collaborative role-playing games are much older than Gygax and Arneson. But in retrospect, it's hard to believe it isn't as ancient as storytelling itself. It's a shame the Bronte family's home campaign isn't more known. A further shame that so much of it was lost, deliberately it seems, due to how little respect collaborative fantasy play had at the time.

Dude This has to be the most interesting setting I’ve heard in ages. If someone starts writing a setting for this and needs an artist let me know I really wanna draw something for this.

I definitely want to use some of these ideas with my 7 year old daughter. She writes stories, creates her own worlds, and draws maps of them. We collaborate on a continuing bedtime story about princess Japan, her Sasquatch friend and her pet dragon.

What an incredible idea! I've actually been using a small game I found from Renaissance Italy as a game to play with my 4 year old niece. Basically the idea is that you put on a wizard had and then compete to 'conjure' the best castle by taking turns describing what you are conjuring for your castle. It's almost a daily occurrence now that she rushes into my room and asks to play 'the Lizard game'

Shame there's still less than 200 likes. I'd love to hear the Glasstown lore.

I like the idea of running the game, or the creative writing exersize, as a rotating editor of the magazine. Or even have 2 or 3 competing magazines that everyone writes into/for. It would be even better to do the magazine editing at Wuthering Heights. But not at this time of year. It's too cold now, and windy most of the year, and the building not having a roof, windows or doors doesn't help much either!

What was the goal, 400 likes for a lore video. I hope we can still get that even if it is a year after the original video.
