Just got launched in South Africa last month. To be honest majority of Chinese cars are fairly priced here. Giving the established brands a run for their money. I just want to see a proper crash test of these cars. I saw a crash test this morning for midsized to compact SUVs and the surprising winner in that test was the CX5 intrerms of side impact and safety of the occupants.

Do new car buyers in China with a limited budget still consider a gasoline powered vehicle rather than a basic EV? One would think gasoline motor vehicles are on the way out.
@theolich43842 жыл бұрын
Depends on where you're. If you're in Shanghai, the BEV BYD Dolphin would be a no brainer. But charging it would be a hassle to car buyers in China's hinterland, where the charging infrastructures lag way behind the nation's eastern, wealthier regioons. There is a reason budget ICE cars like VW Lavida, VW Sagitar (both are China-specific variants of the Jetta), Corolla and Nissan Sylphy still remain top sellers in China like they had been in the past 20 years - only that they now share the top spots with PHEV and BEV offerings from like, BYD, GWM, SAIC... You see BYD's sauce of victory here - their industry leading DM-i hybrids offer best of both worlds and when packed into cheaper models like the Qin Plus (a Corolla contender) and Song Plus (a RAV4 rival), people from downtown Shanghai to the Afghanistan-bordering remote town that is Tashkurgan, Xinjiang alike have no problem adopting them.
@stanbimi2 жыл бұрын
@@theolich4384 Thanks for the info. On busy highways EV that got stuck in traffic jam could see the battery ran down. What to do? Suppose it's a similar problem with ICE cars - but an empty gasoline can in the car might help them.
@CATinBOOTS812 жыл бұрын
@@stanbimi If you're stuck in the traffic, your EV battery consumption is zero (except eventually for heating or AC). It's much worse for an ICE car.

are they selling this under the cost of a CRV or RAV4 in China? if it does, they should sell this to other countries with still lagging EV adoption
@theolich43842 жыл бұрын
Yes, even the top trim of the Cube sells for less than the basic trim RAV4 and CR-V. But it must face the domestic Chinese champions in the class that retails for about the same first: the GWM Haval H6 and Chang'an CS75 Plus.

Hello wheelsboy. Love your reviews. Please would it be possible for you to make a full in-depth review of the new SAIC Feifan R7? And if it could be possible to get the car in any other part of the world apart from china as I am already so much interested in it. Every other review I found was practically in Chinese lol and I couldn't understand a thing. I figured if there's anyone who could review a car from China in English, it'll be wheelsboy. This is my request 🙏 I hope it's not too much trouble

Dont Buy it.. In China SAIC's EV sales are not good. And SAIC has been considered as a company without advanced technology and will only be a joint venture partner of foreign car companies (VW and GM etc). I don't know why MG can sell so well abroad...
@artlorddavis58362 жыл бұрын
@@famousraperandrapperkriswu656 well. Considering that, I think the tech is quite okay from some reviews I've seen and articles I've read. Plus the car looks really really attractive considering the fact that it seems to be the China version of the eqs. I have some people in China who are into cars tho so if I wanted to get it, it wouldn't be that much of a challenge. Besides, it won't be my only car. I already own a Mercedes
@famousraperandrapperkriswu6562 жыл бұрын
@@artlorddavis5836 FEIFAN sales in China is very poor, most people will not choose this brand ... And to be honest, when I say technology, I'm mainly referring to durability. My personal idea is to buy BYD yuan plus (atto3) / VW id4 this kind of economic electric car. Because of the rapid development of electric cars now, three years ago the electric car is far worse than now, three years later the electric car will also be more advanced. Take BYD for example, Han's chassis suspension still needs to be upgraded. It has a very thin rear suspension. It uses a three-link structure, and you can see three thin links, which are criticized in China as 'chopstick suspension'. The Tang's chassis also needs to be upgraded. NIO's ES8 & ES6 and Xiaopeng's P7 also need to be upgraded. Although they all look good now
@famousraperandrapperkriswu6562 жыл бұрын
@@artlorddavis5836 You can also ask me questions about other models. As long as they are sold in China
@tren1332 жыл бұрын
@@famousraperandrapperkriswu656 I don't know about their other models, but the SAIC Mulan has been getting rave reviews in Europe, with most reviewers saying it is the best value EV hatchback on the entire market. That is the first SAIC EV on a proper EV platform, so I expect they will be improving soon. In fact the MG4 is directly undercutting their JV partner's ID.3 in Europe, so I think SAIC has some promising products coming down the pipeline.
