Remarkable undertaking, my friend. Embarking on such an extensive project with the boat is no small feat. I can't help but express my concern for your exposure to potentially harmful fumes and dust throughout this renovation. It's abundantly clear that those modest paper masks fall woefully short in providing adequate protection. With only two lungs for the duration of a lifetime, it would be advisable not to wait for a serious incident before investing in proper respiratory masks.

Thanks 🙏 You are absolutely right... Most of the time we wear the right thing, but sometimes we get complacent I guess... We really shouldn't... Thanks again

In review, the fit and finish of the boat interior is very much worth getting to the best standard you can absolutely bear achieving. The logic of that is that once you are living onboard - you can always improve the appearance of the exterior without impact on your quality of life (much) whereas you really do not want to be breaking out the sander to the interior. You are a great team and producing great results.😀👍⛵️

Enjoyed the music. Great cabin resonance when describing upcoming changes. Willing to live with imperfections. Hopefully trim, accessories and cabinetry will mask most. All that fairing, sanding and painting will serve the process well. Making progress.

How far from the water is the boat
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 11 ай бұрын
Haha, a few meters :) and a few months, maybe? We don't have the answers to all the questions either, we have a plan but working all the details out as we go. A few variables.... considering we have to leave Australia due to visa break and some personal matters. But we just started working on the electric motors setup, we have to make her waterproof, so, yeah, a bit more work to do, but getting there! Thanks for the comment! See you next Sunday!

It's coming together nicely. How much more time do you think it will take before your ready to go sailing?
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 11 ай бұрын
It is! Thanks! Hard to tell now when we'll be ready to go sailing! As soon as possible, hopefully! we're working on the motors installation, we're also trying to make her waterproof with windows and hatches. Then we might need to take a leave from Australia and return home. A few other variables.... but soon! :)

@@buildingwilda How many months can you stay in Australia at a time before you have to leave and then how long do you have to stay out of the country before you can go back? Did you rent a house to stay in or do you stay at hotel's? I'll have to do the same thing when I build my boat because I'm thinking that I might build it in the Philippians. Not sure how that will go with visas and accommodations but I think the accommodations will be much more affordable than they are in Australia.
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 11 ай бұрын
@@robertlaird6746 3 months, on the visas we have. No defined amount of time out of the country. Multiple entry visa. Yeah, Phillipines likely to be more affordable. My limited experience of the PH would indicate some red tape, lots of it, but absolutely doable. A place i am looking forward to returning to.

@@buildingwilda I haven't traveled outside of the USA much since I was in school. It's been a long time and I've only taken one international flight in my life. Seeing all of these different sailing videos and growing up in the junior sailing/ racing program really makes me want to travel by boat and see the world.

@@buildingwilda I hear that the Cyber 48 is 6.1 tones empty. The internet says that 1 ton is equal to 2204.62 pounds. 6.1 times 2204.62 equals 13,448.182. Hmm, that doesn't seem right because several people have said that the Cyber 48 is the lightest weight boat of it's size and weighs way less than 10,000 pounds. I don't really know how much a ton is equal to in pounds.
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 11 ай бұрын
Size matters. Wilda is under 45 feet. It may not sound like much, but 3 feet longer is a big difference and usually also implies greater width at the waterline and draft. It all adds up quickly. The Mumby 48 is about a meter longer (more), each hull 10 cm wider and 10 cm deeper draft. A bigger and heavier boat with similar ish performance. One of my favourite boats is the spirited 480. A 48 foot balsa core cat. Have a look at surf sail roam for a great example of the model. Amazing boat! 8 tons fully loaded. 17640 pounds. 2.2 tons of that is payload. Fast boat. And comfortable.
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 11 ай бұрын
The Mumby 48 is 6100 dry. 7400 design for cruising and 8700 max.. I'm guessing the latter slows her down a bit... Not sure. I really like the Mumby design. It's a great boat!
