Success with a capable supplier that remolded the windows. Just lying there, they look good.

The boat is looking great! I look forward to seeing you sail her one day. I worry that you don't seem to value your lungs very much! When working with fibreglass, especially the dust created when cutting, grinding and sanding it, it is vital to wear serious masks at least. Also, dont get into a car and go home with dusty clothes on. I speak as someone who also built my own cat, many years ago now, but i now live with emphasema which is not at a good thing. Wishing you both a long life. I love your channel and your boat 😊

Windows look great. How did the new company achieve such a good fit. Did they make a form? or templates.sizes? 👍

They used the window cutouts that we provided and also the mould covers that we made (the male - female kind of mold). Thanks for the feedback and comment! Hope you stick around for installation, whenever that will follow :)

I sent you a comment, (a while ago), suggesting that you just accept the over-curved windows, and that you would get used to them in time. I think you can feel very pleased with yourselves for sticking to your high standards. Very well done. Congratulations to you both. I can’t wait to see them fitted now! Roger 🇦🇺

Thanks, Roger! Yes, we really wanted the job well done. There's still this last window that has those imperfections and requires some polishing. Hopefully, after that we can plan installation.

Great progress! Bummer about the water tanks under the saloon seats. Wish they were else where. Someone suggested bladders. Maybe?
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 8 күн бұрын
The tanks are in a pretty good place... I just wish we and the previous owner had plugged them during the build... I guess we all live and learn. We will keep the tanks and flush them thoroughly before putting them to use. Thanks for watching / Axel and Rox

I like the counter sink of the through halls, less drag and less likely to be hit by debris. Can you explain why you chose to epoxy them in rather than sealing?
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 14 күн бұрын
Because there should be no reason to want to remove them. Not for the life of the boat. The fiberglass reinforced nylon will never (ish) corrode or deteriorate and the only reason to replace them would be if you want to move them or if you somehow manage to break off the threaded bit on the inside. This should be really difficult to do. If they do deteriorate in 20 or so years you can drill them out. 5200 or similar sealant is not as permanent. Now they are part of the hull and I hope they are in good locations 🤣

can you get bladders for your water tanks so you can take them out and flush them also how far are you from water to launch you cat
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 8 күн бұрын
The water is really close. No more than 100m away, but we need a bit of a high tide. Bladders could work and for many boats they are a good option. I think we'll be fine with the tanks we have, we'll just have to flush them properly before we use them, and perhaps add a filter or two. Maybe do a round of polishing water in place of fuel 🤣

My husband loves the video's, I'm listenig to your story whilst he is watching the video's. It's an amazing job you're doing! hi guys, well done on the work so far, i look forward to each video, i wanted to say, it may be worth you doing the windows yourself, you made all the molds, may as well heat the perspex and mold them up as well, at least you know that they are going to be right.

I thought the project died, because i always could only see SE1 videos. Watched those years ago, now i checked for new videos and still could only see SE1. Now that i clicked on the video link of the last video of SE1, which seemed to have unlocked the new videos on your youtube account and the other 3 playlists. Really weird, i think you youtube account is bugged, hopefully just for me. Well, nice to see new Videos of you.

We are travelling to and from Oz due to work and visas and such, but getting closer to launch by the day! Hope you enjoy catching up! And hopefully we won't bore you with too much sanding 🤣 Glad you're back! / Axel and Rox

Yeah there is so much to consider when boat building. That's part of what I love about it - strategising, planning, executing - 20 things at once, in the right order. Oh yeah, and standing back to admire your handiwork on frequent occasions. Looking good. Cheers

These are the toughest jobs in many ways, a large number of repetitive tasks, which take for ever and when all are complete you do not have much to show for it - in terms of visual impact. You are a good team - keep on plodding through it - progress is progress.😀👍⛵️

A glimmer of hope with a vendor willing to try and supply an experimental large,curved, forward window. Oh so many holes. But somebody has to do them, Rox and Axel. What a team, never giving up. Forging ahead.
@buildingwilda
@buildingwilda 28 күн бұрын
No giving up! Couldn't afford to if we wanted to 🤣 Actually the 4 front windows. The two smaller ones have a smaller, but tighter bend in them and we're also overcurved. In some ways even trickier to fit.
