That was good of you to do. There are lot of people researching their familie tree that would have been very happy with a lot of those photos found. Just because someone didn't have kids that wanted it doesn't mean there aren't other family members who would love it. I do research and I can't tell you how happy I've been every time I got a photo. One time I was with my daughter at a secondhand market that was just there for 2 days and going to the second row of tables I noticed a frame I liked when suddenly I noticed the photo in it and I could hardly speak because of excitement to tell my daughter that the people in the photo was my great grandparents and their kids one being my maternal granddad. I just couldn't believe it how did it get there. It turned out the lady selling the things were friends with a well known singer and actor who had given her the frame to sell and had just left the photo in and this person was my mom's cousin. She didn't have children to give it to but then there I was sharing these ancestors and so happy. If I find a bible or photos with a name I will buy it and search the genealogy websites to see if there are anyone who would like to have it as tons of things that may be important to someone is destroyed every day and what a darn shame:)

Experienced care worker here. ‘Thick and easy’ is a staple in care homes.. it’s a dietary requirement for people who are losing their ability to swallow. The stains on the wall: enteral nutrition for people with nasal gastric or Peg Tubes. Midazolam: a strong drug to calm people, or to reduce seizure activity’s The handover notes on whiteboard: absolutely shocking. No matter what the resident had done, should not be confined to room until apologising to resident / care worker PPE: might be left over, not that it wasn’t used. Mattresses: bloody expensive. Costs the NHS ALOT. Should not be left to rot in a closed down care home… very sad! Care homes that are closed down due to abuse, neglect or unsatisfactory care put brilliant care homes and staff down.. so many care homes are fantastic but tarred under the same brush. X

It is so sad and depressing to think what went on in that home. You showed a vial of Midazolam and a while ago a funeral director was saying when they were called to collect a deceased resident they would often find used boxes of Midazolam in the residents rooms.. It was probably used to sedate agitated residents but it can slow or stop their breathing. I'm not saying they were 'euthanised' but things happen. That very long photograph would have been taken with the pupils in a semi-circle and the camera moving around. Some kids were known to be at the beginning and then running to the end so they'd appear on the photo twice, I can remember our school photo being taken in that way. Some people may find it boring to watch you going through photos and documents but I find it truly fascinating so I thank you for that. I wonder who put that radio on? Hmmm

The letter and photographs, were really fascinating, and the school photograph, was located in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire. The letter, was written on legal paper, which would be used for Instructions to Counsel, bound by pink ribbon, containing all supporting documentation for Counsel, to take a case forward to the High Court. The now hamlet, is situated just outside of Market Rasen. St. Cornelius Church still is there, the main village is no longer standing, but their still exists Lynwode Manor (the old name for the village) at LN8 3QG. The letter was written in copperplate script, and appears to be from a lawyer to his Client, as to whether he could use the title of Lord of the Manor, hence the various Land Enclosure Acts stated towards the end of the letter. Again, thanks to you both for posting this video…I am now climbing out of this rabbit hole:-)

Firstly Happy Birthday Matt and I feel so honoured to have witnessed your first wind breaker as a 43 year old!! No doubt there will be many more 😆 I think you need lessons in how to manage a care home 😂 As a registered nurse who has worked in many care homes I can explain an awful lot for you. The whiteboard that you see showing normal diet or soft etc refers to the resident’s swallow ability and the consistency of the meals that are provided. They are usually classified as normal, fork Mashable, soft or purée and the assist prompt usually means that the person needs encouraging with the food because they do not have the ability to feed themselves. Dementia has a lot to answer for! The thick and easy is a special powder that is mixed with liquid to make it thicker so that the person doesn’t choke on the drink and x 2 generally means two scoops of the thick and easy which means it needs to be even thicker. I’m horrified to read the comments on that board but if they are true that is bang out of order keeping a resident in the room for 48 hours as a punishment. People with dementia don’t understand reason or consequences and they can’t be held accountable for their actions because they often don’t know what they’re doing. The problem with Covid was because residents couldn’t be isolated in the same way as patients in a hospital could be. It was unethical to lock somebody in their room so if a person had contracted Covid it quite often spread around the home because the residents were socialising with one another. This was in no way the fault of the management of any nursing home during the pandemic however society were quick to criticise many care homes for the cases of Covid in them. The mask on the shelf is a nebuliser so you put liquid saline or salbutamol in it and it produces a steam for the person to breathe in. I have no idea why there is still a mask attached as this could be a massive infection risk if it has been used. The jars in the cupboard contain the remains of liquid medication that have not been given. They are required by law to be disposed of in a special gel and this should have been given to the pharmacy to destroy but obviously the home closed quickly and this wasn’t done. Midazolam pronounced Mid-az-o-lam is given to relax a person but generally in liquid form it’s given in end of life care through a syringe driver to keep the person comfortable. The paperwork is a care plan. Malcolm is completely nil by mouth and is fed via a feeding tube. His feed refers to the setting up of his machine because the artificial feed he will have is likely to run slowly over approx 20 hours each day. The documentation is not bad. As a medical professional I completely understand what has been written and it is very clear regarding the instructions in order to give him nutrition and fluids (water) for hydration because he takes nothing via his mouth. The rectory in the letter is in Linwood, Market Rasen, West Lindsey. It’s worth £1.091 million! It looks like several business are registered there now.

I cannot imagine being pushed into a tiny room on your own after living in your home for lots of years. Having none of your own bits and pieces anymore and losing your independence. It’s so sad. Then to top it off you are abused and treated by idiots who have no patience or experience with the elderly. Most of these care homes only care about money. The ones where we live the carers don’t even speak English very well, let alone can read. It’s cheap labour, and the owners don’t care. It shouldn’t be happening in this day and age.

I’ve just had a good look at the CQC reports for this place; It started going downhill 2019 CQC made unannounced inspections as they always do, at first it was problems due to lack of staff, residents not having daily activities, nutrition of some residents (that’ll be those with special requirements) Then it got worse and worse, by 22nd December 2020 it had fallen into the category of inadequate and special measures. There’s mention of no management on site of CQC visits, medication not stored safely, abuse, breach of infection control ie covid MRSA etc, careplans not updated, audits not done, the staff that were on shift weren’t trained, PPE present but not used. The home was only running at half capacity for a very long time, they only had 15 residents in which is unbelievable for a 30 bed home. In the end the last CQC report was done september 2021. Incredibly sad it went from doing quite well with happy residents to what it was in the end, poor poor residents.

Happy birthday!! The types of videos I love to see are like this one, but I'm not usually a fan of care homes either. I love the abandoned homes and looking through the history of old pics and things left behind and you guys making me laugh my ass off :)

1:07:23 My favourite sort of videos; An abandoned button factory where millions of buttons are left lying around everywhere. Any explore where a rabidly angry farmer/owner chases you off at the end! Andy’s road trip videos over on Beeper Beef. If you have not watched these yet, you should! 😁😁😁

This building is in pretty decent condition. Why hasn't it been cleared out to resell?

My mum paid 250000 for bond and most of her well earned pension, she fell and had a stroke it was so heartbreaking to see her the last week,l sadly thought this is what l can expect as well. To get covid for ed on them was a crime of ignorance and stupidity.

Hey, guys! Yes, OldFolkHomes are the worst. I'd rather visit an unoccupied one than a full one. I have a bad school memory of visiting one for caroling. I understand your use of humor to get thru a sad situation. I was still working thru the phrase, is it, "taking the piss out of"? Tho with this episode, it's finally dawning on me what you mean, after so many instances. Love watching you explore in UK's vast history! Photos, cottages, hotels. How about some daytime shoots in ruins? Love it all, especially if it's ghosties you encounter and not police 😄 .
