6:52 While it's true that of the crops that can be placed in the dehydrator, starfruit are the most profitable, that's only because starfruit are the most valuable out of all the crops. Dehydrating is actually the *least* profitable way to process starfruit. Comparing the different processing methods, aged star fruit wine returns 6,300g per fruit, while the dehydrated version only returns 1,582g per fruit. Using the dehydrator loses almost 75% of the revenue you could be making. The dehydrator is best for low-value, high-volume crops, like cranberries, blueberries, and common mushrooms if you've got mushroom logs set up. For high-value, low-volume crops, keg+cask is most profitable. Great video! The planner is one of my favorite resources.

@ I totally agree. The convenience of being able to harvest every seven days without needing to replant every time more than makes up for the price difference between them IMO.

@ Ancient fruit is the most profitable (also less work, which is why it's what I fill the greenhouse and the Ginger Island farm with); starfruit is more valuable (starfruit base price is 750g, ancient fruit is 550g). But the whole discussion is a great example of why it's a mistake to focus only on one metric, and that there are no wrong ways to play Stardew Valley!

@@lexica510 Starfruit is worth more per fruit, but it's also less valuable if buying the seeds. The seeds cost 400g each with base quality starfruit being 750, so 350 profit per seed, which is less than the 550 of ancient fruit with their seeds always being free. Even if you get the starfruit seeds for free with seed makers after an initial startup cost (or getting some starter seeds from skull caverns), the fruit taking nearly twice as long to grow effectively cuts its value in half, because time is a factor. idk why starfruit vs ancient fruit is ever even a debate. Blueberries vs starfruit would be a better debate because with the same initial growth and a 4 day regrowth, you get a higher minimum profit from blueberries per seed than from starfruit. 150g per harvest minimum (base quality and ignoring 2% chance for an extra berry) minus the cost of the seed (80g). That's 70g profit per seed at initial harvest plus another 450 by the time you could grow another starfruit. That's 520 profit per seed. There's just enough time in the season for 2 starfruit harvests so that's 700 profit per crop space over the season, assuming the same amount is planted. Realistically you would plant more the second time but you can always do the same with blueberries as well. And here's perhaps the most important point: You can buy 5 times as many blueberry seeds as starfruit seeds. So forget per seed. Calculate per harvest with the same investment. That's 2600 profit per 400g startup for blueberries (5 seeds bought and planted summer 1) vs the 350 profit per 400g invested in starfruit. Even doing a second harvest to account for 700 per tile over the course of the season, it pales in comparison. You would need to have the whole farm filled with starfruit for both harvests to be able to profit more per season, but by the time you can afford that you're probably already on the island growing starfruit, at which point this is largely moot.

The farm planner is exactly what I was hoping to find-- summer year 1 and Im playing for the first time, reading up on all sorts of info and trying to get 4 torches by year 3 my first go! Now I can keep scrambling around for resources, and slowly fill in my finalized layout!!

I have been playing Stardew Valley for years now and I cannot believe I didn't know this existed! If I use the wiki I usually just google the exact thing I'm looking for so never really looked at the home page. I am going to use the farm planner for my next playthrough for sure!

Thank you for this video. I did know about the farm planner and have been using it for years. I didn't know that it had the modded farm layouts or building layouts. Now my fingers are itching to develop the layout for my sheds, etc. I always have the wiki open during playtime. I keep the season open, so I can ensure that I don't miss birthdays and items that are seasonal, e.g. fish. I did not know about the other two resources and they were sitting there in plain sight too. Oh well, I do now, LOL!
