Speaking of Polish, since you are American, read Henry Miller's novel Sexus. Its fourth chapter begins like this. "There is one thing I like about the Poles - their language. Polish, when it is spoken by intelligent people, puts me in ecstasy. The sound of the language evokes strange images in which there is always a greensward of fine spiked grass in which hornets and snakes play a great part. I remember days long back when Stanley would invite me to visit his relatives; he used to make me carry a roll of music because he wanted to show me off to these rich relatives. I remember this atmosphere well because in the presence of these smooth-tongued, overly polite, pretentious and thoroughly false Poles I always felt miserably uncomfortable. But when they spoke to one another, sometimes in French, sometimes in Polish, I sat back and watched them fascinatedly. They made strange Polish grimaces, altogether unlike our relatives, who were stupid barbarians at bottom. The Poles were like standing snakes fitted up with collars of hornets. I never knew what they were talking about but it always seemed to me as if they were politely assassinating someone. They were all fitted up with sabers and broadswords which they held in their teeth or brandished fiercely in a thundering charge. They never swerved from the path but rode roughshod over women and children, spiking them with long spikes beribboned with blood-red pennants. All this, of course, in the drawing room over a glass of strong tea, the men in butter-colored gloves, the women dangling their silly lorgnettes. The women were always ravishingly beautiful, the blond houri type garnered centuries ago during the Crusades. They hissed their long polychromatic words through tiny, sensual mouths whose lips were soft as geraniums. These furious sorties with adders and rose petals made an intoxicating sort of music, a steel-gibber which could also register anomalous sounds like sobs and falling jets of water." I hope that the next time you come to Poland you will be a pair of snakes with hornet collars.

It's nice to hear you talk about Poland and that you are pleasantly surprised by Poland. All tourists are surprised by Poland. It is little known, but this has recently changed. It is clean because there are a lot of garbage cans when walking down the street, and garbage is segregated because the fees for segregated garbage are cheaper. Poles like to eat good, fresh meals. I noticed that in America people eat a lot of potatoes processed into powder [pure], but in Poland it is not very popular. The food is easy to prepare, but it must be fresh, so everything tastes good, it is a bit heavy, but this is due to the old climate. Poland was at the crossroads of the West and the East, with cuisine from France, Germany, Italy, Tatars, Hungary, Turkey and Eastern countries, all combined into products found in Poland. For example, when raisins were not known in Poland, there were dried cranberries and dried plums. When the climate in old Poland was harsh and there was a shortage of products with vitamin C, pickled cucumbers and cabbage were made, and in the process of pickling, the cucumber, which was practically worthless in vitamins, was turned into a valuable product with vitamin C. Interesting fact for you, the first bistro was created by a Polish nobleman who, during the Battle of Vienna, the Polish king defeated the Turks. This nobleman obtained a lot of bags of coffee which no one wanted to take, but he knew what they were and used them to open the first bistro in Europe.

Legend has it that Wars and Sawa were a married couple living in a cottage by the river. While hunting in the area, Prince Ziemomysł got lost in the forest. He wandered for a long time looking for a way back until he found a fisherman's cottage, where the hosts welcomed him warmly and offered him a meal. In the morning, the grateful prince said, "You did not hesitate to take a stranger under your roof and saved him from hunger, cold, and maybe even wild animals. Therefore, these lands will remain Warsaw forever, so that your kindness will not be forgotten.

Romania is beautiful, but in spring and summer, I love mountain climbing and long journeys along trails from mountain shelter to mountain shelter, and in the chengen zone you can do this throughout the entire Carpathian chain. In winter, Romania is a kingdom of small towns white with snow, and the closer to the mountains, the more beautiful they are, but you will be grounded because the trails and roads will be impassable, and the areas of vine farms in the south show their true charm only in spring. Drink a lot of Romanian wine and little moonshine and the world will be beautiful.

Its so nice to hear; how good experience you had. Poland is continuously shamed in our media for not being modern enough/ not clean. I remember how 20years ago Prince Charles lift sweet paper from nature trail and this was the biggest shameful thing ever🙈..but after 17years leaving abroad- i really appreciate how nice my country is😊

Varshava!!! Unce upon a time it sounded Varshova - 'a village belonging to Varsh' before at the turn of XIII / XIV century it was built on a plan of typical medieval town. It is more interesting than you imagine, because reconstruction is a patchwork of medieval/old walls and sometimes even ornaments with constructions from the 50-ties. Return to Poland and discover more! Please always read in Polish "w" as "v". "Sz" as "sh", "cz" as ch in cheese! Strange "ó" in old times was pronounced as long "ou", now it sounds as ordinary Polish "u" - do you remember "Kraków"? "ą" plus "ę" are nasal vowels, similar to sounds "on" & "em" but pronunciation of nasal consonants "n" and "m" is somehow suspended in the middle. Of course, there are more rules to learn, but for the beginning it will help. Good luck!

0:30 regarding the "grilled cheese" if you bought it anywhere apart from a legit place, it wasn't the real thing. Oscypek, as it's called, should be made from sheeps milk, not cows, which most places sell.

Poland was the most destroyed country after World War II, but we somehow managed to rebuild it. think now what would have happened if there had been no war, what Poland would look like now (God honor the homeland), every Pole has it in his blood

You can actually buy oscypek cheese in the states, just look for any Polish Deli and they should have it. But it ain't cheap, for the large one i pay around $15 and the one you ate is around $7 in pack of four. My local Polish deli has basically everything from cookies, chocolates, juices, yogurts, caned goods, fish, cheeses to sugar and flour, BUT you need to remember that European food has very short shelf life, like ridiculously short shelf life, witch is a good thing as it has no preservatives, as we have in the states. So read those dates 📅 😂 ,
