I worked for the DC air National Guard back in the mid 60s when all the racial situations were going on. We were activated many times to go in augment the DC police to maintain order. The Secret Service claims they do not have the personnel they need to properly secure areas where assassination attempts might be carried out There is the army, navy, Air Force, marines, and National Guard. How many people do they need? True these people are not highly trained in security measures. But they all have eyes and ears and their presence would make a huge difference.
