This Short-Term Rental in Pattaya Impressed me! | The Base Condo Tour…$25/Night 🇹🇭

I’ve been going to Pattaya way before the base was built, I remember when it was just a dirty lot. Here’s are some pros and cons you may want to consider when staying at the base. Pros: 1. You’re centrally located and close to just about everything. 2. The rooftop pool Has an amazing view of the city and beach. 3. Your like a 3-5 minute walk to soi bukhao, 15 min walk to walking st. , and just a few minutes walk to Pattaya hospital. 4. You catch a baht bus right in front of your building that will take you directly to soi 6 for 10 baht if that’s your thing. The same baht bus will take you to terminal 21 mall where you can eat meals at street food prices (35-75 baht) on the top floor. Cons: 1. Out of the 6 times that I stay there each visit being two weeks to a month. 4 out of the 6 apartments had a roach problem. There were signs in the lobby posted saying that the building will be exterminated, but I have never seen it happen. Make sure to not leave any food out! Many of my friends complained about roaches at the base. There were times I even thought about making a KZbin video about it. But those Thai defamation laws are something else. 2. The gym is way too small for a complex of its size. Residence of both buildings use that tiny gym. It looks big because of the mirrors, but it’s actually very very small. 3. A lot of those apartments are owned by the Chinese and they rent them out on Airbnb and Chinese sites, so it can be a lot of foot traffic during high season and wait times for the elevator can start to get ridiculous. 4. The rooftop has a great view but because of the Airbnb traffic, it pretty crowded during peak hours. And you might have a hard time finding a spot to chill. there’s a pool on the lower floor next to the gym but it don’t get much sunlight and it’s cold as hell -if you don’t mind that, it’s usually Less people or you will have it to yourself. 5. I’m OK with the size of the apartment because I live in Asia and I’m used to it, but for most Westerners the apartment is extremely small. If you’re the type that like to work from your apartment like I do then this may be a problem for you. 6. It may just be my luck, but every apartment that I stayed and had that same gray couch by the entrance with stains on it. 7. The “chill room” doesn’t always have AC working and can become hot as hell if you’re trying to get work done there. there’s Wi-Fi there as well but it’s not reliable. It goes off and on. Make sure you have your own Wi-Fi if you’re trying to work from there. i’ve always used Wi-Fi in my room and never had a problem. 8. Don’t get too friendly/familiar or chatty with the security, some of them will start asking you for tips for doing nothing. It got to the point where several Times I had to put on dark shades and act like I didn’t see them. With all that being said,I’m not saying that anyone shouldn’t stay there, It’s actually A pretty decent place especially if you can get it at a decent price. Depending on the owner and time of renting I’ve seen prices go up to $100+ per night, so it’s not always “cheap” I’ve always payed $20-60 a night, a $150 on New Years, and around $800-$1,000 for the month. I always do things last minute so I end up paying more. But if you plan out your trip they are much cheaper and better options in Pattaya. If you’re talking about location, accessibility and convenience then the Base is an easy sell.

Thanks for the insite. Some Airbnb host take pride in their accommodation they are offering and some could care less as long as they get paid. No matter how seemingly nice a place I stayed in Asia, there was always a bug issue that no one mentions in their online reviews.

Great spot! I visited Pattaya Beach once when I was in the military (Navy), but really didn’t get the full civilian experience.. I would love to come back and spend some time at an airbnb like that one.

I stayed at the Base a few times. It was nice years ago but now it's just so loud and lots of people. I prefer the Edge, which is next door. A bit pricier than the Base.

Isaiah, After first 90 days in, can You apply for 1 year or 1 y + visa ? Instead of going every 30 days ? Asking as 30 + year old guy. I saw visa ext sheet - saw multiple things You can check like 6 mo / 1 year / ** longer. What is Your insight on this ? How is longest period You extended for ? Is birth cert necessary if You have Your own online income ? Is bank statements necessary ? Or You just pay for extensions ?

The base is hit and miss. Yes, there are some really nice condos in there. But like i said. It's luck and chance at the base. Good thing about it, though. Is your close to everything, i.e., the central festival, the beach, and you can pretty much stroll to walking street as well.

The Base is pretty nice, the good thing is all the girls in the area know exactly where it’s at. Problem is they have roaches. Not a ton but I’ve had one or two crawl across the wall while I was “entertaining company”.
