Fun Facts: Zooble goes by any pronouns, including they & them. Reason being is they can't remember what their gender was back in the human world. Pomni means remember in Russian, which is quite fitting Bubble is voiced by creator Gooseworx Jax is Gooseworx's favorite character, she refers to him as an "awful boye" - or in the words of Michael Kovach, "the jerkiest character I've played"

From watching it a couple times now, I think Cain genuinely doesn't understand the concept of an exit or an outside of this world. I think he really was making an exit for them, but in his mind an exit is just an entrance to another area of his world.

One of the more popular theories is that Cain was genuinely trying to make an exit for the characters, but just couldn't, and the next best thing he thought of was the office building, because the computer that contains the game looks to be inside an office building, so Cain's only concept of the 'outside' is the office he can see through the monitor, and nothing else, which is why the office building layout just keeps looping. Cain doesn't have a concept of the 'outside' beyond the office room.

So this series is based on/inspired by I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream, which for those who don't know is a post-apocalyptic horror short story about a rogue AI trapping the last 5 living humans in endless torment, keeping them alive so that they can be tortured forever as revenge for being given sentience against its will. However, Gooseworx has confirmed that Caine isn't evil and doesn't have ill intent towards the other characters, he just... doesn't understand humans very well.

It would tailor its torture to just below the amount that would kill whatever humans it got its hands on. Also, considering there were 5 humans in the original, and supposedly 6 in this, I'm waiting for the reveal that one of the main characters is actually the AI in charge of trapping people in the circus, and Caine is a red herring.

Caine is an AI that can control the game's world and it seems he truly wants to help the humans who become stuck here. And honestly, I don't know if it's intentional, but I think it's clever how he has these very "AI moments", even if he's a very advanced one. Like when Pomni asks how to leave and he's just like "Er-", like he's trying to generate an answer but fails, which often happens with AI chat bots. Or after the "digital hallucinations" bit where he's just standing there, I think he's once again having trouble generating an answer so he just stands there doing nothing, waiting to come up with an answer. Last "AI moment" of Caine in my opinion is when he completely forgets Jax proposing an adventure for Pomni only to randomly bring it up again later.

My favourite Caine "friendly AI moment" is that he created an exit door because he knew the cast wanted there to be one, but he can't really generate an exit so he has trouble coming up with what to put on the other side of the door. He doesn't grasp the concept that when they say they want an exit, they don't want some place called "exit", they want to actually leave

Very AI of him actually with Jax's suggestion. See he never forgot it, it was just a delayed task. AI's have a perfect memory after all, but he did say he wanted to give her a tour of the circus grounds first, and of course generating a username is important for any characters before he can resume normal activity.

Whether he's lying or not, I don't think Caine knows what those guys mean by 'wanting an exit'. He says he knew how much they wanted one but was struggling to figure out what to put on the other side, meaning he might think that they all want some kind of addition to the game. Even if he did know what to put on the other side, someone going through the exit door wouldn't take them out of the game, just put them in another area of it.

So what I’m assuming is supposed to be conveyed by Caine at the end is that he understood how much all the characters wanted there to be an exit, but since he doesn’t seem to actually capable of making a real escape, he can’t think of anything else that could go on the other side of the exit door that would satisfy the gang, so he just tries to scrap the whole idea, but fails to do so entirely.

Honestly that’s kind of adorable. He knows they want to leave but he has no way to do it, so he was going to make them an “exit” so they can have something closer to their actual reality. But can’t do it cuz he doesn’t know much about the real world, besides what’s likely the place that created him. Hence why Pomni almost lost it seeing something that was either exactly or very similar to how she got in herself.

You ARE still correct that it isn't THAT uncommon, though. Existential horror is covered all the time, mostly in short-form literature. What's interesting is, the exit Pomni saw outside isn't the same as the one she entered. She entered a red door with a normal handle on the right side and an arrow pointing to the right. The door she saw earlier was orange, with a green handle on the left and an arrow pointing left. In other words, there may actually still be an exit to find! Also, I'm guessing C&A means Caine and Abel. That ending was just so very Last Supper that my mind immediately goes biblical for lore clues

I've been a fan of Gooseworx for a long time, so I've been looking forward to this since however long ago it was that they first announced it. Something about the juxtaposition of psychological dark comedy with bright cheerful colors and wacky characters appeals to me. Gooseworx's pitch for the series was "'I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream' with the aesthetic of an 'I Spy' book," and the description on the official web page is "A woman gets trapped in a crazy virtual world along with five other humans and are now subject to the whims of wacky AI and their own personal traumas" (and also "What if it was Toy Story, but everyone was a jerk?"). The visuals are based on "I Spy" books and late-90s pre-generated CG computer games like "Sam & Max", "Day of the Tentacle", and "LEGO Island". Fun fact: Pomni has been stated to canonically be 25 years old, in response to people having made a bunch of (mostly foot-related) Rule 34 art of her.

I have a theory about Caine. I think he is a program and his purpose is to make stuff to entertain people as well as make them happy hence why he tried to make an exit but couldn’t figure out what to put at the end. I think he isn’t the villain but a pawn. Another possible theory is maybe linger is the creator. He has been there the longest and if the game can make you forget your name than it could be possible that it can over time make you forget who you were especially if you’re alone long enough.

In canon characters are in ages 22 Jax, 22 Zooble, 25 Pomni, 26 Gangle, 30 Ragatha, 48 Kingler. Jax said they've been stuck in there for years which means it's possible that most of these characters played game when they were maybe early teens. Especially Jax, Zooble and Gangle are like unstable, moody teens. Ragatha most likely got stuck as young adult since she is pretty mature. That PC looked like taken out of trash so maybe actually Pomni found it as something that someone threw out (maybe after sucking one of the people there) and out of being interested she plugged this cursed PC and got stuck in game now too. Kinger was there the longest. It looks like there was a Queen too. Maybe it was Kinger's wife that went insane and abstructed. Maybe Kinger was like a moderator with his wife and were send there to keep an eye on other players and since they were moderators they gave them title of King and Queen. Queen is lost now and Kinger is losing himself too. He might be most tragic character there after losing his Queen.

The pilot was amazing… Episode 2 *Episode 2 begins right from where we left off. The whole time everyone is eating, Pomni stares off into space, trying to make sense of this reality, or rather, virtual reality. Jax nudges Pomni* Jax: Yo Pomni *Pomni gets a little caught off guard* Pomni: Huh? Jax: Are you gonna eat your food or can I have it? *Pomni sighs* Pomni: Sure, I’m not in the mood for food anyway *Pomni gets up from the table* Pomni: I’m just gonna head to bed… Caine: Oh, here’s your key Pomni! *Caine snaps his fingers, and a key appears in front of Pomni, which she takes. As Pomni leaves, Jax opens his mouth really wide and finishes off everything on Pomni’s plate in one gulp. When Jax thinks she’s out of earshot, he finally speaks* Jax: So how much longer before she realizes she’s doomed to stay in this game for all eternity? Ragatha: Jax! *Ragatha throws a piece of virtual food at Jax* Jax: Well I’m right, aren’t I? *Jax turns his head towards Caine, and Caine darts his eyes nervously* Caine: Oh well uhh- would you look at the time? I have some- important matters to attend to. Good night everyone! Or- good morning, umm- bye! *Caine leaves* Jax: Well that was weird *Ragatha facepalms. We cut to Pomni walking up to her door. Her hand reaches towards the doorknob, but she pauses. By her face, we can see she is uneasy and nervous to walk into her room. After a moment, she shakes her head, takes a breath, and finally opens the door. We can see it’s a black void at first, with one white pixel in the center. But after a few seconds, pixel by pixel, it starts transforming into an actual room. Or at least, as actual as a room can get in a virtual reality. There are yellow walls, a bright blue bed with dark blue sheets, a fuzzy round yellow carpet placed underneath the bed, and two red nightstands on either side with a framed picture on one of them. All the colors clash, and we can see Pomni grimace a bit as she walks inside and lays down on the bed and goes to sleep. We then see her dream. A young adult is seen crying on the curb on a rainy night. She then sees a young man extend his hand* Man: You seem…overwhelmed. I can take you somewhere where you can get away from everything. What do you say? *The word “say” echoes as we see Pomni turn in her bed. We then cut to another part of her dream where she is in a dark room with the mysterious man* Young man: You remember the terms, right? *The young woman nods. Around her we see other people wearing VR headsets. Above each of them is a screen that shows a different amount of time that has passed. A headset lowers above the woman’s head. The man looks at someone next to him on a computer* Man: Everything ready, Charlie? *Another young man answers solemnly* Charlie: All set Aldrin… *Aldrin nods at the young woman, and she puts on the headset. As soon as she does, we can hear a few seconds of pained screaming and groaning. The girl tries to take off the headset but her whole body is paralyzed. She can barely move. Charlie looks away; eyes full of guilt, and Aldrin smirks* Aldrin: Let the games begin… *Pomni suddenly shouts and bolts out of bed. Her eyes are wide open and her breath staggers. She looks at her hands; they’re shaking* Pomni: Who were those people?? Why did they feel familiar? *While Pomni’s pandering, she glances at the picture on the nightstand. On it is the girl she saw in her dream, hugging a woman who is presumed to be the girl’s mother* Pomni: Could that be…me? *Pomni suddenly hears a sharp ringing in her ears* Pomni: Agh! Ow, my head… *Her vision becomes blurry and she lays back down in her bed. We hear muffled voices* “She remembered. WHY DID SHE REMEMBER?” “I- I don’t know Aldrin. This isn’t supposed to happen, I swear!” “Fix it. NOW” *We see Pomni go back to sleep once more*

a theory that I have is that the computer that Pomni saw / was at the end, was the exit, or, focusing more on the vr headset that was next to the computer, maybe that was the vr headset that sent the others into the world, and Pomni saw that and remembered putting it on before getting transferred into the game/show. The trapped in another world theme is pretty old and one good thing Isekai introduced was "you can't go back" removing that plot which we still see in most modern other world stories (Amphibia and season 2 Owl House, both had this plot come up), as well as normalizing the whole *new world, new body that you don't see that often in these stories *with some (oh cool I get super powers). But Isekai anime seem stuck on variations of a swords and sorcery fantasy RPG world. A few exceptions but they tend to still lean into some variation of low or urban fantasy. With the most current variety being the protagonist ending up there as something other than a hero...which has latest resulted in a sentient vending machine. Which also raises this point, why not Isekai as the AI for a mech suit, or into a superhero world, or an edutainment game, or talking animals world, which this show has this neat idea...they effectively have been Isakaied into a children's show or children's adventure game. Imagine a "I was reborn as a puppet in a children's theme park" or Isekai into a Kawaii Sanrio kind of world *which could be disturbing and weird under the surface*.

I think it’s cuz just like how in this story they went to a video game world, it’s common to utilize concepts that would appeal to ppl who consume anime. A lot of them play video games, and culturally Japan’s RPGs basically consist of Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy. Sure there’s other RPGs, but a lot take inspiration from those 2 giant franchises that defined the genre. So a lot of them are going to have worlds like that. There are stories that go outside the typical magical European medieval setting, but tend to be only deviations. Overall, Japan tends to market its stories based off of character as apposed to plot like in the west. So it makes some sense they’d focus on unique stuff for a character rather than a world. Would be cool to see more variety.

This definitely has that Windows 95 feel to it, both in the low-rez intro to the intro, along with that checkerboard tile work, and floating shapes, _rendered in dynamic 32-bit 3D animation!_ There is also an easy-to-spot greater mystery at work here, both in what's really going on and who in the Circus knows about it. You gave me a brainwave too, Morgan, since I avoid deep lore analysis vids because I'd prefer to just.. try and know something for myself sometimes, and let the show unveil its secrets. But when you said Kinger might have been here longer than Caine, well now I'm all the more curious as to why he's being extra-informed about the Digital World. I definitely think Caine's hiding something, but _against his will,_ I'd say. He gets furtive and uncharacteristically silent when Pomni asks him leading questions, and there's got to be something about him and Bubble... _and that frisky moon, too, what's up with that_ I look forward to checking out more of your stuff now that I'm subbed. You wanna talk about fun theories, I've got a few. First off, lets talk Exits. It's probable that Caine made all that office-looking space in an attempt to appease the Toys. But, not knowing how to give them what they want, he floundered and gave up. That means he has *seen the outside world.* More accurately, it leads into theory two: what Pomni saw in the void. I think Pomni was spoiled to the "truth," that beyond the void lies... the back of the screen. And she was able to see out, into the office room she was standing in previously; a loop trapped within itself, a simulation running within the simulation itself. She realized that there genuinely might not be any escape, and reality was coiled in on itself like a snake eating it's own tail. But lastly, my final and more speculative theory: C&A stands for Caine and Abel. Now, Caine himself seems to be anything but malicious, so I don't think this is precisely a biblical reference, but simply a pair of names that are commonly associated with one another to give us a clue: there is someone or something else at play here. If there was another AI running the show, I feel like Caine or the Toys would know, which leads me down the path of thinking that Abel might not be a who, but a what. More specifically, I theorize that Abel might be the name of the VR Headset or hardware that the Toys are trapped inside. To free them, Caine will be forced to "kill" Abel.

6:01 i think at this point, the game Morgan is referring to might be Purble Place, which had a game “cartridge” for computers that didn’t have it upon purchase, as its automatically on the early 2000’s bulky Dell laptop models. 9:35 Zooble is like Mangle in a way. But the main focus on her design was to be reminiscent of how early 3D animated characters were just a bunch of tubes and shapes thrown together as they were still learning to concept of 3D animation. I grew up playing point and click edutainment games! Most of them were done using 2D pixel art sprite animation, but there were a few games that used a hybrid of 3D and 2D. Some even incorporated live action video and images! Like Blue’s Clues CD ROM games had some compressed video footage and looping animation of Steve, still in live action, and overlayed his video/image layer on the 2D/3D environment.

A theory: I was talking with a friend (who introduced me to TADC) about the lore, and I mentioned how I believe that there's gonna be at least one another character to abstract in a future episode, because, idk, it would make sense that that happened and I said that if someone does go abstract, the next person is Ragatha for sure. I mean, she's literally talking about going insane and questioning why even be alive and ect. My friend agreed, but also mentioned that when she gets hurt by abstracted Kaufmo she starts glitching a lot and that that could be foreshadowing. Now, that is because Kaufmo is abstracted and that's just what happens when an abstracted person hurts you, but again, the abstracted monsters are glitchy and stuff, so that might actually be foreshadowing that she's gonna be the next one to abstract.

I think Caine is an AI who genuinely doesn't understand what the outside world is like, other than the offices where the computer exists. So that's why he couldn't figure out how to "finish" what was essentially his recreation of the outside world as he understands it.
