This all started from a one-shot d&d game night for Vax’s VA’s birthday with some voice actors friends. They all loved it so much that they started an actual campaign. This was their home game for a couple years. Rumors about this epic home game started circulating around the voice acting community and Felicia Day approached them to start streaming. They were already so invested in the game and their characters that they just continued on with the story instead of starting a new campaign for the stream. The first two episodes of TLVM are a pre-stream encounter (one of the original stretch goals of the Kickstarter campaign). Which is a great way to introduce the characters. The third episode starts “The Briarwood Arc”, technically the second arc of the stream but is definitely the best starting point for the animated series.

Good news, more seasons coming and also their second campaign is also getting animated. So a lot more content coming. This is also one of the few shows out there where the creators had so much control over their own idea. You get to have fun "is that [actor] " games every episode 😆 7:50 I love that this Tavern keeper was 100% fan created as a stretch goal ... Also played by Mason Park (Sandman's Desire). 8:30 That unlucky guard is voiced by their DM Matt Mercer. Without telling him, the animation team thought it would be funny to make him look like Matt...and every other guard he voices. And yes Sam Reigal (Scanlan) used to burst into rewritten pop parodies in their stream when doing his Bard thing. He has a background in Musical Theatre and actually co-wrote most of the original music for this animated show.

Fuuuuuuck yes. Season 1 is a lot of fun, but with distance and hindsight I would say it’s largely made for fans (Critters, for the sake of nomenclature). Season 2? Season 2 is genuinely just fucking awesome television. Can’t wait to take this ride again. The first season is adapted from the second major arc of the first Campaign. These two first episodes were something new for everyone based on sessions the group had before they started to record. Some differences will be fun to call out as they come, but it’s largely beat for beat how the game went, just trimmed down. And bidet to all!

Just subscribed. This reaction came on my feed, and I always love to see new reactions for the show. I was not a “Critter” (Critical Role fan) until this show premiered. Just a heads up: Episode 3 changes the game entirely. That’s when I became a super fan. Also, when Morgan mentioned the last time she watched CSPAN, that was the day my husband decided to watch CSPAN for the first time. I was at work and didn’t even know anything went down until I called him after work.

Sam Riegel, the voice of Scanlan Shorthalt, the bard... is a trained musician and singer who sang in barbershop quartets, sang on stage, took part to musicals since he was a kid... during the campaign he would actually cast inspiration on his fellow party members by putting silly but topically relevant words to famous tunes ranging from britney spears to.. anything really. of course, because of the copyrights, he couldn't do that on the animation, so he just wrote entirely new songs for it.

1st two episodes is more an intro to the world and characters then ep 3-12 follows a fan favorite arc from the 1st CR campaign, it dives headfirst into one of the characters very dark and tragic history there is also a b plot for another character later on, in that regard season 2 spreads out the character spotlights a bit better and the animation steps up by leaps and bounds especially with making the 3d assest blend into the 2d way better than season 1. i dont know you guys but i collect reactions to this show so i hope u guys continue and enjoy the ride, cuz its a fun one :)

Also Critical Role is a group of successful Voice Actors that began Live Streaming their D&D Campaign. It's all uploaded to KZbin(they have a channel). This is made from their first campaign, the first two episode sbeing prestream stuff, and the rest of season from being from the "briarwood arc."(roughly episodes 24/25 and then 28 to 39ish). Then the season 2 and 3 are from the Chroma Conclave arc.

Okay, guys, I hate to be this guy, BUT as a CR fan, I have the duty to do so, I HAVE TO! Mathew Mercer is the voice for Levi, yes. Travis Willingham is the voice for Grog, which happens to be the voice of Roy Mustang from FMAbh. Laura Bailey is the voice for Vex, which happens to also be the voice of Lust from FMAbh. And she is one of the nurse actresses on the final episode of TLOU. Travis and Laura are married in IRL. Ashley jhonson is the voice for Pike, which happened to be Ellie from the TLOS, games, and Ellie mom on the TLOU TV show. (While playing critical roll, she appears on a Show called Blind Spot.) You were probably already told this, but Vox Machina is a compressed version of the live campaign. It was I believe 144 episodes (in stream) of three to four hours each. And they turned it into this show. So, keep in mind, if something went wildly right or wildly wrong, it was because of a roll of the dice! Also, it's not just this season that's the campaign. It's the entire series (they hope to do five seasons).
