That's actually brilliant. Imagine a fighter plane coming into an enemy airfield and seeing a bunch of fighter planes parked sideways near the runway. He'll think that the planes are not ready to take off so feel safe to attack. But the planes take of straight, without turning, taking the pilot totally by surprise. Brilliant!

The pitch issues are because of the steering help setting in the hinge configuration which slows hinge response speed the faster you go

It's not a center of thrust issue, it's a center of aerodynamic pressure issue. I'll try explaining it: Your sideways configuration is in an unstable equilibrium (so if there was no force applied other than oncoming air it would stay there but as soon as you impart the tiniest rotation it will no longer be in equilibrium. You can compare this to a marble sitting still on mountaintop: the tiniest gust in any direction and it will roll down) The standard configuration of a plane places it's cop slightly behind it's com so it will self right (extreme example arrow all mass at the front all aerodynamic pressure in the back) This is a stable equilibrium (like a marble in a valley: if force is imparted it will just roll back in the valley) Hope this helps Learnt this by playing Kerbal space program (I think that would fit your channel well)

Seeing some of the failures actually gave me an idea similar to this: Boomerang Plane. Make a plane similar to this, but designed to spin. Not necessarily helicopter-style so the spinning creates lift, but you get the idea.

I have a cursed idea, but not sure if it can be made (since I don't know the limitations of Trailmakers) basically have a plane with two sets of wings, but those are not actually wings, but giant propellers, which spin in the opposite directions of each other. (that should prevent the plane itself from rotating) they can either rotate to propel the plane forward to be locked in the horizontal position for take-off, landing and gliding. (now when I think about it, the plane needs at least one normal engine to take off, but otherwise, it would use those "propellers" to gain speed)

I commented this in the last video but I don't think scrapman read it so. (READ THIS! THIS IS IMPORTANT) when using hinges for a sort of air control, remember to put the steering help to zero as to negate the slow turning hinges that are also affected by the wind.

Imagine. You are flying over some mountains in Russia on a patrol mission, and suddenly, you see an aircraft flying sideways. You chuckle at how bad that enemy pilot appears to be flying. But then, the skidding aircraft rotates towards you. You look in confusion at the sudden defiance of physics. Then before you can react, a salvo of high explosive rounds hurtle towards you. You try to angle towards the enemy, but it was too late. One of the rounds strikes your plane and you enter a death spiral as one of your engines is destroyed. You look out the window and try to call your commander to tell him of the new threat, but suddenly, you are engulfed in flames.

I tried my best to make tank treads once with various rotor blocks and hinges. But the curve on the ends simply cannot be done within game rules. You can make the bend with active power but you can’t connect the bend.

I'd say it wasn't too much resistance on the tail, the plane was actually flying exactly how you would except a normal plane to fly without a horizontal stabilizer. It's main function is keeping the yaw centered

How about a rotating ufo style plane? Build a circular flying saucer style plane with cockpit, mount a constantly active rotator on the bottom of it. Attached to the rotator is the landing gear, thrusters and horizontal and vertical fins/controls. The effect will be the saucer body (and cockpit) constantly rotating as it flys. Good luck

Some jet planes are able to fly rolled 90 degrees, they use the tail rudder to angle the plane up and the thrust plus the lift from the body and tail rudder keeps it level.

If you go to configure a thruster/engine, you can change its power. So the engine movement of 6:32 - 7:01 was pretty much useless.
