Nah, SMM1 holds a dear place in my heart as it introduced me to all these MMtubers and reignited my passion for Mario. Plus it has the 100 mario challenge, a better version to endless. However, SMM2 is better in every single way otherwise. Much more refined, better assets, less jank (no midairs, overlay pipes, lanky mario, drunk effect), no annoying sound effects and (this might be controversial to some) no level editor. However, as much as SMM2 improved upon 1, there are still certain stuff it should have ironed out, like hitboxes and hidden blocks with required level beating items in them.

@@peeturpain9379 Almost everything you said that was taken out of Maker 2 made the game objectively worse. No editor is easily the biggest mistake made. They simply gutted the mechanics of Maker 1 in Maker 2. Took away spinning with items in SMW (Spinning with items is literally in vanilla SMW) and many other mechanics i can't be bothered mentioning. Item throwing is Worse in Maker 2. Literally the only thing that they upgraded was the amount of assets. In every other way it is easily the inferior game.

@@acvgaming5601 gutting the mechanics is good infact I will say that if tehy ever make SMM3 to nerf the mechanics far far more. No need for ridiculous and intricate kaizo levels and tricks, the game is meant to be enjoyed not grinded. And the level editor thing is good, so you have to clear the level on your own instead of looking it up and spoiling the design of the creator. It literally had only one benefit i.e. finding out dev powerups so a future SMM should remove such contraptions (pick a path, dev powerups etc.) and keep level viewer out.

ryukahr should do a series on beating all the SMM1 uncleared levels. would be great if we could ever "finish" the game collectively. since we can reverse engineer everything in SMM1, we should be able to beat any level (excluding impossible levels which were exploited with broken versions of the game)

It took a massive undertaking and months upon months of grinding for several thousand players to complete every uncleared Mario maker year 1 level. Not impossible but would be difficult to get that many people on board for that long. Not that it wouldn't be a great and entertaining series

I am unfortunately very sure that it is actually impossible to beat all levels from SMM1 since there are levels building upon techniques that were patched out in the latest version of SMM1 such as the phantom jump...

Ryu: Serious video idea: play endless expert (or 100 man expert, either way) but the gimmick is that if you pause buffer, you fail the run. It would test your speed-reading, so to speak, but also your ability to ignore one of the tools you rely on.

Ryu, here's a challenge I wanna see you do since 100 man is too easy for you. You previously did 100 lives to go through all 4 difficulties, but that wasn't a challenge since you arrived at super expert with almost maxed lives anyway. So here's my twist: start on easy with 1 life, then go onto normal, expert, and super expert like before. But this way you need to try and gain as many lives as possible on the easier difficulties in order to survive the harder ones!

Dude, most of these levels are designed for TAS (tool-assisted speedrun) where an AI robot beats them. Check out the *Item Abuse* TAS runs for Super Mario World. It's actually pretty impressive to watch
