this is actually best to set the nvidia setting to Application-controlled. That way it is set by turning it on in each individual games settings rather than be on all the time. You turnedit on in both the nvidia settings and in the game, in th game it makes no different as you had it set to on (16x) as standard. you only need to turn it on in the game if it is set to application-controlled (if set to OFF then turning on in game wont work).

Can confirm that it's best that in NVIDIA and also in AMD control panel it should be application controlled (for AMD that option is disabled) and should be turned rather in game. I've noticed that many games just start showing weird artifacts if it is turned on through the NVIDIA or AMD control panel.

I did what he said in the video and found it improved the visuals compared to just using the game settings. I’m playing on a large screen so that could be the reason but it’s definitely slightly better

Video: NVCP: off - > 16 Game: ? -> 16 (doesn't actually do anything since you set it in NVCP) Suggestion: NVCP: off -> application controlled Game: ? -> 16 Your comparison (just game settings): NVCP: off -> off Game: ? -> 16 (does nothing since it's turned off at driver level)

IMHO, in 2024 this option should be just on by default on max. Anisotropic filtering was a thing back in the days like 1990s and early 2000s when this feature was a huge impact on the hardware but today with this hardware available, this option shouldn't even exist and it should just be on at all times.

iracing have since, quite recently, set this to 16x by default and removed the option to change it.

Does this work for marbles on the track surface? Been trying to play with my graphic settings for the last two days and cannot figure out the setting that allows me to see marbles or dirt from someone’s off track. Any help would be awesome

Man that just shows what an ancient and dinosaur code engine this truly is. And they are asking for too much money to play it. Like asking a monthly sub and tons of DLC and stuff for an Windows DOS coded Game engine is .... disappointing to say the least

Are you saying that iracing's anisotropic filtering is somehow broken? The 16x filtering in game or in the control panel is exactly the same, when setting it in the nvidia control panel it just forces it on, hence why the default setting is 'application controlled'. Not sure why your iracing is not applying AF but with 16x selected in game you shouldn't be required to force it on in the control panel.

That does sound right, but I noticed differences when testing it on and off, with 16x ingame so, seeing as the major graphic enhancement it offers I figured it pretty important to have it to match iRacings Max setting.

You would notice a difference setting it to off in CP as this would force it off. OP is right, just leaving it on Application Controlled is doing the same thing, just set 16x in game. You really should put out a video where you make these changes on the Programs tab in Nvidia CP. You’re making these changes globally, which isn’t the best way to go as this will apply to ALL games. Instead select iRacing on the Programs tab & then the settings will ONLY apply to iRacing. This allows you to tune games independently

You could've just listened to the video and skipped ahead rather than let me explain the setting.. Ill put BIG subtitles next time might help ya out.
