After chasing kickflips in my youth and returning to skating at 31 I finally landed my first one last year. It took being so fed up that I just started committing to ever single one and it finally worked. Even if you think you’re trying, sometimes you’re really not physically trying 100%. Like Dan says don’t let fear dictate how you attempt a trick. Just give it all you got and trust yourself!

Dan I love your videos, I watch them every day and though I can’t hardly skate at all, watching the Powell team always gets me stoked on life and watching your videos is something I look forward to every day. As commercial as it has become, Powell is still my favorite skate company and Stacy absolutely rules! Rock on!!! Bones Brigade for life

Your videos always feel like it’s just a bunch of friends hanging out with no intimidation or competition to see who can land the best tricks. Just has a raw “hanging with the homies” kind of vibe. Really enjoy the channel

Watching live, as this channel progresses, is the highlite of my day. I was a late 70's early 80's Skateboarder. And then caught up again in my 50's. The follow shots on the camera on your board gives an amazing feel for the park. Keep it up.

Shit. Now i want to get back into skating. Your videos are entertaining and helpful. Thanks Can Dorrigan. Much love from UT. ✌️

It's amazing how Nick's feet stay glued to his board. Editing aside, I mean he almost never doesn't land a trick when he seems out of control.

Your points about being hesitant and tense, plus about skaters "blindly going into it" are spot on. Among my skate group there's an inside joke that I skate and learn things better when i'm sleep deprived than when I'm well-rested. [To be clear, not advocating for folks skating when sleep deprived, just the fact that when i'm mentally clocked out like that i'm less in my head and more acting on instinct and reactions] When i'm rested, often times if i'm messing things up or trying to learn something deliberately i'll be way in my head and overthinking what my body and limbs are doing, rather than just "doing the thing" I also have something called "Dyspraxia" [D.C.D] that also means i'm over-focusing on what my limbs are doing and making sure they are doing the correct thing. [Kickflips for ex, 9/10 i'm kicking so hard i'm almost doubleflipping, when i don't need to kick with nearly as much force]

I always thought that long, backside nose slides were very underappreciated. It's cool to see someone who regularly throws them into their sessions. I also really like the design of this park. So many parks today are either back and forth, or around in circles. It's cool to see something more open with diagonal options. It does look very fun and playful. But, I can see how it would turn into a collision nightmare when it was busy.

Once upon a time, there was a person who came across a highly recommended video that everyone around them found hilarious and entertaining. Excited to see what all the fuss was about they eagerly clicked on the video and settled in to watch. However, as the video played out, the person found themselves growing increasingly confused and unamused. They waited for the punchline that never seemed to come, and the jokes fell flat for them. While the people around them burst into fits of laughter, the person sat there feeling disconnected and wondering why they just didn't find funny at all. Despite trying to see the humor in it, the person just couldn't force a laugh or even crack a smile. They felt out of place in a room full of joyous laughter, unable to share in the excitement of those around them. As the video ended and the laughter died down, the person quietly excused themselves, feeling a little disappointed and perplexed. They realized that humor can be subjective, and what tickles one person's funny bone might not necessarily resonate with another. And so, the person walked away from the video, knowing that it's okay not to find everything funny or entertaining, and that sometimes, humor is truly in the eye of the beholder.

Your homie is insane. His ability to stay on his board when 99% of half-decent skaters would step off is mind boggling. He's super fun to watch, but I kind of wish you didn't cut up some of the lines. I'm totally fine to see someone roll up the quarter pipe and back since it keeps the flow of the line a little better.

This video is giving me flashbacks... I skated the old Shaw park like 15 years ago; i was in town for the day; t was 100 degrees and i didn't have the drive to skate to the good bowl at Green Skate Lab. So i skated for 20 minutes, dripping sweat, and then sat down to hang out with the homeless Mexicans. I threw in $10 for beer, and the fiesta began! they were scraping together change, so the $10 was more than appreciated. They gave a t-shirt, and a flawless copy of Elliott Smith's Either/Or on cd. Ah, memories

A lot of the time for me it takes a little fall to start sticking my feet on the board. The “pussy footing” comes from a fear of getting hurt. So sometimes that slam is all you need to be like “huh that wasn’t bad” and start committing

the advice is very true. i was just starting to get kickflips every try pretty much and now its so much easier to just land on the board. I got varial flips in like 20 minutes because i just tried to land on the board and it worked. Im trying to learn nightmare flips, and im gonna apply the same advice.
