This Ski Is A FLOP

Nice to see somebody agrees with my experience! 2 years ago I bought a pair of enforcer 100s based on 2 things: All the positive reviews, plus my experience demo-ing the 94s. I really liked the 94s, but wanted something a bit wider for powder potential (the shop didn't have 100s to demo). After skiing a whole season on the enforcer 100s, my experience was EXACTLY what you're describing. I had to work them to get the turn response out of them on groomers, they were heavy and dead when I would try to throw them around in the trees, they would sink in the pow, and they were hard work trying to do anything quick and snappy. I'm 5'6" and 165 pounds, so maybe you need more weight to ski these right? Anyway, last year I stopped trying to get 1 ski to do it all. I went with 2 skis instead: Elan Ripstick 96 black edition for daily drivers, and Kastle fx 116 for powder days. I had the best season of my life between these 2 skis. WAY better experience.

Your experience is spot on for your weight. Keep in mind that you traded in a metal monster (Enforcer) with 2 TI sheets for a non metal Carbon + wood planker (Rip Stick) at a weight difference of 2080 vs 1710 grams per ski, and 4mm less under foot per ski. This does not make it a dog, it makes it not the ski for you.

I like the 3 ski quiver. A pure carver, a powder ski and a 100mm all mountain. Oh and a touring ski.....and maybe a twin tip for fooling around on....okay 5 ski quiver.

I've been loving my Kastle FX84Ti skis for the East since 2014, and have been looking for a possible future replacement that keeps the spirit and versatility and playfulness of these but updated with the latest advancements in ski tech. I've always been led to the Enforcers as that successor, but this is making me think this may not be the case? Any suggestions to a worthy successor? Maybe just get another Kastle FX?

Enforcer 100 -> chop and bumps straight line. Or just big mountain long lines and not the front side type of skis. Try it in Vail’s bowls and you’ll see.

Have yet to get to try the enforcers, but just based on weight alone, I’d be hesitant to call these an intermediate ski. A lot of intermediates benefit from medium to lighter skis, not super light, but with an easier to manage swing weight. This can depend on the body weight and strength of the intermediate too, but the average intermediate should probably try these skis before just assuming it would work for them well based only on the stats on this ski, the weight, stiffness, and width. It’s definitely a more advanced ski based on those alone, regardless of the argument on whether it gives a lot of energy back on the turn or not.

Great point! I mostly made that comment just based on who I see wearing them on the chair, but you're totally right! As I learned with other skis, what beginner/intermediate skiers ski on (or are sold) is often times different than a ski built for beginner/ intermediate skiers.

I don’t think they’re a good intermediate ski, but I think that’s a lot of who buys them. I see a lot of strong intermediate skiers who seem to be wanting to “level up,” or think they have already, or want to show they’re advanced enuf to drive a tank maybe? Case in point- I skied 1 run with a couple guys I met on the lift last season. They were visiting the area, and it’s my home resort (Crystal Mountain). They were looking for “some fun and challenging advanced runs.” One had enforcer 100s, and the other had Mantra 5s. I had my Kastle 116s on that day (all wood- light and flickable for a fat-ski). I took them down a favorite trail with some trees and hidden deep powder spots, and they cried uncle 20% of the way down and found an easy bypass.

Dude literally 20% of the skis I see on the t bars at CB are Enforcers. Evidently many don’t agree. They seem to be legacy skis. Folks buy them year after year. That said I don’t own them. I’m skiing Mindbenders and my favorite old Side Stashes.

Hi Elliott 😊 This review of yours seems to have touched a nerve. Most skiers don’t understand the value of the race carve turn… you master the carve and you breakthrough to the next level! My skiing got stuck until a coach in Austria solved my issue… “right shoulder over right ski … left shoulder over left ski… the emphasis was to allow the ski to complete the turn LIFE has been “SKITASTIC” ever since!

At least I hope if there are other people out there considering these skis that love carving, they will at least give them a demo before buying. Good video. Your critiques feel very reasonable, especially considering you acknowledge there are different types of skiers who will all load the ski differently. Would be very curious to hear your thoughts if you ever get a chance to try the 88mm version of this ski. Based on reviews it seems the narrower version might address some of what you find lacking in the 100mm.

I completely disagree with your review. I got some enforcer 100's new this year and they are the most hard charging awesome skis I've owned. For people who like to go fast, carve hard, and be aggressive these skis will not disappoint. When I watch your clips you tend to go slow, slarsh your turns, and are not aggressive. For people who's skiing style is not aggressive like this, the enforcer 100 is probably going to feel long, heavy, and very damp. This doesn't not make the ski a "flop" it just means you're not skiing hard enough to get the performance out of the ski. For advanced hard charging skiers this is going to be a fantastic rewarding ski no matter where you are on the mountain.

I can predict how you are going to like all of the skiis i've been on with pretty high accuracy at this point haha. This ski started it all for me after getting rid of some skinny volkyl RTMs moving out west years ago. Could only afford one pair of skis and these did it all, just not well. They were so much smoother than anything else I had tried, muting out any irregularities or harshness in the snow. I think that's why these took off. I eventually moved on for skiis that might not feel as smooth through different conditions, but were more capable in certain conditions and less tiring.

I have 2017 enforcer 110 and 100 and a 2013 Nordica Helldorado and I have really enjoyed all 3 (that’s why I still have them today) I have actually been able to get the 100 and 110 to carve and charge very well. My dad has a 2022 enforcer 100 and it’s a wildly different ski. It lost much of the chargyness and doesn’t turn as well like you said. The ski has actually gotten lighter and I think it’s actually to its detriment. If you get a chance try a pre 2019 model of enforcer

Ive got to strongly disagree with you, the enforcer is as strong as we get in the all mountain ski category. Is it a FIS rated GS race ski ? Of course not that not the goal 😂 before you ask Im an ex racer and a racing ski coach. The power of the enforcer shines in its ability to rip right thru choped/crud.

I have 94 since I totally agree that they are not powder skis, I wouldnt recommend 100. And dont get me wrong : this ski is an unforgiving ski. There is a lot NOT to like on it. Like you said you dont feel it being snappy out of turns on groomer. But it comes from how it turns. Truth be told, you cannot make a perfect carve where you initiate with lifting the toe and slowly get to bend your ankle then the knee etc. At the same time that the ski gets to bend more and more and then to snap you out of the turn. This thing needs to be on a high degree angle, so really fucking on edge ! So you kinda skip to the end if you wanna rip a carve 😂 It can definitely feel like your stuck on train tracks since again like you said, those are super heavy and feel heavy. But that train track feeling is their power. If you have the energy to actively engage those turns and you want to go fast. I have not ski anything as damp in crud/chopped snow. You can keep sending those turns at high speed in those afternoon groomers and fly by everybody else its incredible. Also, tho they dont feel snappy in the turns, you understand the snap when you use it to catch air ! They are so powerful, you actually have to watch out on big air not to over shoot. But for this reason I love them in the moghuls and trees. Finally, I think they are great, but they are hard to ski, I would not recommend them to an intermediate. Tho intermediate can be plenty, as long as you are an athletic skier whose gonna have the will and energy to pump those hard turns.

But happy to oblige the info in the name of transparency I guess, my previous name was Elliott Gould, I grew up in Burke, VT and raced the BMA jr program, raced Vermont High-school circuit and raced independently in USSA races (i paid all my own entries so didn't race FIS or speed events since the goal was college racing). After that I raced USCSA (there's only D1 and USCSA). Came out and raced for the College of Idaho on a modest ski scholarship. I was a decent racer, certainly nothing world class, I would say I was pretty good. Medaled in High-school, but middle of the pack at a Nhara/ussa race barely making flip usually, and barely made the flip for College racing. I was captain my senior year, went on to coach the team as an assistant coach for 1 year, became a certified USSA race referee, and then went and worked for Ski Racing magazine for a short stint. I would say I'm a pretty good skier, but I've also been around enough to know there were and are much better skiers than me out there (zach from the channel being one of them). I'm okay not being the best racer in the world lol. That all being said my opinions are honest and not for sale, for whatever that's worth to you. And I love carving.

I love my Enforcer 94s. They are my groomer skis where I ski out west since I also like to dip into the trees even when there is no fresh powder. Stable, heavy, and predictable. I tried skis with no metal (lighter with only carbon) and they felt cheap and flimsy. I hate it when the rocker in front slaps constantly against the snow. As an all mountain ski that feels stable and comofrtable at 50+ mph on groomers or variable snow, my experience has left me with the Enforcer. Are they the best at carving? No. Are they the best in crud? No. Are they ideal for powder even with the 100 mm under foot? No. Are they competent at all three. Yes. Get a 88 or 94 Enforcer as a frontside ski that can still handle variable snow (not just hard pack groomers) and then get something like a playful Armada 116 or 121 for the true 8+ inch powder days. One ski quivers are not logical, in my opinion. But two ski quivers are reasonable.

I am openminded when it comes to skis. Like you, I always look for and can normally find get deals on last year's skis. KSL anyone?? You and others have been talking for a while about the QSTs so I am going to demo a pair this winter. Probably the 98 since I really like my powder skis. It will be interesting to switch between runs with my 94 Enforcers and the QST demos with a particular focus on carving the groomers at a speed between 40-50 mph. I do not think I will like the lack of metal but we shall see.@@RicketySkiReviews

Elliott - Enjoy your reviews -- But disagree with this one . I'm a big fan of the Enforcer family - I have the 88, 94 and 104 and ski 100+ days a year ( I live In VT )- While these are a bit heavy a they will crush all conditions , carve great and no speed limit . Even the 104 free will carve better than most mid 80 MM skis. At -179 CM the turning radius is 17.5M ). Not flexing but other skis in my quiver are Kastle FX 96TI, J Skis- Masterblaster and Head Supershape Rally E. 80% of my ski days are on the Enforcers. Try the enforcer 88 and tell me thats not a great carver !!

That's a pretty strong statement about the 104. I had those and liked them but they definitely don't start and finish groomer turns like many narrower skiis with a flat tails. But that's also not really the point of the 104. The point for me was more maneuverability in very 3D snow by being able to slash them around, which the 100 could not do.

The 104 is a different enough ski construction from the 100 to say it might not be a fair comparison, as I recall. I think the 104 has quite a bit less metal in it. The 100 is 2 full sheets of titinal, while I think the 104 was 1 partial sheet, and is therefore lighter and more flexible.

FWIW - I also thought these were just flat. I did however pick up a pair of the Nordica 104 free - I found them to be peppier when loaded up and great fun in crud and powder. While I *can* make them carve and pop out of the turn decently, opening up them to relive my GS glory days at speed is a nope. At the end of a groomer day I was picking through the rack looking at used GS race skis. I like your Maverick 88 suggestion, that might be a good choice to round out this old guy's quiver.

sounds liek it's good for east cost powder and spring slush trails and pacific northwest sierra crete bowl skiing -- not for Colorado, Idaho, NM and Utah... not for trees, or real powder, or firmer groomers... That "drift", lack of tail engagement you complain about is actually something I don't want when "carving" in slush ... lets you stivot more easily... Never tried the skis -- but maybe that's why people like them???

Hey I just found your channel. This ski was on many lists as something to consider. I'm not sure if you replied to comments and if I comment like this is appropriate for your channel. But, wondering if you could help me out. I broke my neck and back 2 years ago racing downhill mountain bikes. I'm switching to skiing from snowboarding because I'd like to spend days at the mountain cruising and not getting in and out of bindings. Due to my injury and life in general I'm in the worst shape of my life. I'm 38 years old and have some lingering spinal cord issues. But, I'm still fairly athletic and have been doing extreme sports my whole life. I really love to analyze the physics of the equipment and the body and use them in harmony. I understand what you're saying in this video about carving turns and loading the back of the ski. I've skied twice and have already figured out a lot of how to ski well. But, because I'm such poor shape and I am still technically a beginner, I'm not sure what kind of skis to buy. I'd like to get something that won't hold my progression back but also something that I don't have to replace in a year. I've ice skated, rollerbladed, surfed, snowboarded and raced downhill mountain bikes pretty much my whole life. Anyways, if you're still reading this, could you recommend me a few skis? Or something to look for like profiles or widths? Oh yeah. I live in California and my snow fantasies to be snowboarding deep powder in the trees. But, because of my injury, I'll probably stick to groomers and more open bowls for powder.

Thes are not carving skis, never meant to be :-) ... they barely sell in Austria (I believe they make them in Mittersill in Blizzard factory (part of Technica) as they do not have terrain these are intended for. If you want to carve skip ENFOIRCERS all together regardless width. They are not by any means easy ski, they are heavy, but not as heavy as skis used to be. I think they are great to cover the crazy stuff we have in Colorado - man-made snow, powder, slush, inconsistent temperature, inconsistent grooming, inconsistent crud and trees with ice just to name few ... tell me what skis and how many pairs I would have to have to nail it all??? They have been used by so many for a reason, and legacy is not one of them ...

Elliott, you always seem to misunderstand the word “freeride”… it’s not the same as freestyle which is more park focused. Freeride is simply more off piste oriented skiing which typically involves softer or more variable snow than a groomer. I like your reviews but you seems so quick to react sometimes without really understanding the technical details. I am on the fence on how much weight to give your opinions. The enforcer is not a precise energetic carver I will give you that. And yes it is heavy, however it performs well in soft snow due to its shape. I’ve had luck with it tree skiing in a foot or so of powder, but haven’t tried it in super deep powder. Ski is very good at smearing short turns and offers stability but yes, I do agree it’s not a precise snappy carver.

Okay, I’ll eat my words a little bit, you mentioned a more accurate description of freeride skiing there towards the end, my bad. But I do often get the feeling that you tend to gloss over certain details because you’re so dead set on drilling home the points you like to make. I watched about half of this video and I already have a ton to say.. Just for perspective I have a race background but when we used to come from WI to CO I would ski bumps and bowls all day long.. Mostly on straight skis.. I am used to skiing rock hard groomers. My 25 year old race skis are 70 under foot.. A narrower ski will do better on rock hard groomers.. I am still trying to find the perfect ski for when the groomers soften up and when skiing crud.. My 2016 Stockli Stormrider 88s still do a little chattering on rock hard groomers but they haul @$$.. My 2019 Stockli Stormrider 105s can do ok on rock hard groomers but they like when it starts softening up.. They have a flat and square tail.. My DPS F100 RP has rocker tips and tails with a shorter turn radius.. They really chatter on rock hard groomers and like the fluffy snow but not the slushy snow.. The tails catch.. I have never skied the Enforcer 100s but I see a ton of them in CO.. I also see a ton of 94s.. Some 88s.. I am pretty sure that the 94s have more tail rocker than the 100s... The 100s do have a round tail.. So I have the Enforcer 104 Free.. I would say that it has about the same tip rocker but more tail rocker.. It chatters on rock hard groomers but is extremely stable on soft groomers.. I threw out my back last year when there was fluffy snow on rock hard groomers and that was because I was pushing so hard to carv and hit a pile of crud.. The skis aren't the best in rock hard groomers but every other condition I would say they are the best thing out there.. Over confident would be the phrase that describes the ski.. They can do anything.. I just can't.. My guess is that with the 100s and that flatter tail that it will hold you into a turn while carving.. It could take a lot of work getting into carvs and out of carvs.. With the rounded tails I would imagine that the ski is actually designed more for surfy turns.. That is something that is a challenge for me since I am such a carver.. I tried demoing the Mantra M6 and they didn't have any so I demoed the Mantra 102.. My first run with the ski was probably my fastest but I didn't have Ski Tracks on.. I was surprised on how floaty the ski was.. I thought the ski liked to go over the slush rather than through it.. I thought the ski did short turns really well.. It was easy for me to get on and off the edges even though it had a flat squared off tail.. I was very impressed with the ski.. My guess is that for the whole Enforcer line is that I need to learn how to surf.. Carving on all of the skis will wear me out.. I think the shape of them is more for surfing than carving.. Even though when the snow starts softening up I can do some deep trench carvs..

Skis with energy.. I demoed a pair of Head Kore 99.. I don't think they make a stiffer ski.. On groomers it rocked but I already have my Stockli 88s for groomers.. Not only did it get stuck in the crud but it was way too reactive.. I also had a pair of 2021 Kastle FX HP 96s.. A ton of energy in those skis but way too reactive.. I had many times where the snow was grippy that I almost went head over heals.. Then I tried jump turning while in some of that wind blown grippy snow and it was like being on a trampoline and I ended up flipping head over heals and landing on my back.. I traded those skis for my Enforcers.. I think that the DPS Alchemist and Pagoda constructions are reactive.. I have never been on them but if you like energy then try those skis.. BTW.. Kastle discontinued making the skis that I had.. They did add metal to them and my guess is that the skis were too reactive for the public..

My Enforcers have a 17.5 turn radius and I can dictate if I want the turn to be shorter or longer.. The more on edge I go the longer the turn radius.. They are turny without being catchy.. I can go on flats without skis catching.. It is kind of like being on my Stocklis that have a longer turning radius.. My old race skis are extremely turny and catchy.. I always need them to be on edge.. That is the same with my DPS that have a shorter turn radius.. I should send you a couple of KZbins of people that I follow that ski the Enforcer 104 Free and the stuff that they ski..

My experience and the people who I see skiing Enforcers are experts.. For carving it takes a lot of energy and the skis will exhaust you.. The skis are incredibly stable and will not let you down when you need them.. The last run of the season for me I was with 3 others that hiked to the top.. The snow was just starting to soften up and I made nice smooth effortless turns.. One of the guys made a video of it and if I ever see him again I will make sure that I show you it.. Then on the middle of the hill there was a mogul tree section.. I did not do so well with those skis but I made it through and then on the middle to the bottom of the hill it was a slushy mess and the skis were like being on water skis... Just so smooth.. The extra weigh adds stability but you have to be strong enough for it..

Yeah you're probably right, I think it's the kind of ski that's going to be approachable for a wide market, because not everyone is carving. I heavily agree with you on the M6 Mantras. I was really impressed by them.

The nordica unleashed, enforcer free 104 were both big stinkers for me. the Enforcer 93 was just boring it didnt do anything particularly special other than be 2 planks of wood to ski with. Theyre the deadest skis ever.

The Enforcer 88 Maybe. The 93 is the old model, I believe the 94 is the newer one. I think you should try the Dynastar Mpro 99's much better dad skis. The problem with the enforcers is the weight doesn't get compensated with enough performance. I ski the Blackops 118's MASSIVE comp skis and theyre more energetic on groomers than the enforcers. @@RicketySkiReviews

Everyone is intitled to their opinion. It appears that based on Elliott's background as a ski racer that he prefers the groomers. Perhaps he does not prefer or like off trail/tree skiing, or crud skiing. Good for him. The Enforcer may not be the ski for him on the groomers but it could be a great ski in the trees or off the groomers. This review is overly negative. His one point that I liked was try before you buy. Good point. I would advise to seek other's opinions as well.

SE gushes over this ski. Something about the Nordica brand doesnt work for me so Ive never considered any of their product for my gear selection. I know its not logical but Nordica = Euro Snooze Fest. Im not suprised the enforcer is a boring ski.

I dont judge SE for what they like. They ski the east. Im in British Columbia. Im sure Nordica makes fine skis but theyre not a brand I feel any affinity towards. Theyre kinda expensive and if Im spending real money Ill get a J Skis Master Blaster thanks.

Ha! I get a kick out of your reviews, but dude your lost all credibility with this one. "You put energy into it, and you do not get much out." I stopped listening there. Are you effing kidding me? This is one of the most demanding and rewarding skis on the market. Those who do not get much out of it, don't have what it takes it to put anything into it. This is one of the best skis on the market and its for experts, not Harry and Maude with twins who go to Aspen 2x per year and call it a season. On skis for 46 years, I ski Tahoe and the PNW, and this ski will always be in my quiver. The Enforcer 100 is a weapon that keeps on giving as long as you have the balls to really ski them as intended. But it is not a 1 ski quiver. To those on the fence, get them with Look Pivot 15's, size up and you will be rewarded. Thanks for the laughs though!

I know some people like chocolate vs vanilla, but this ski is a monster. It really crushes every condition, except when I wanna go slow and do tons of turns and hits with my 10yo. Then I get tired and my knees yell at me.

He's a racer, probably slalom, which means he likes turny skiis with lots of camber that toss you from turn to turn. He's not going to understand anything else. I'm not sure why but, in my experience, racers seem to be the most black and white in their thinking of what makes skiis good and bad. Unable to adapt to styles that don't apply to racing. Being open-minded is something Ski Essentials actually does very well, but he's right to call them out for downplaying the downsides of some skiis

you should try some other skiis though, they get way more demanding than this. Try a real charger like a cochise 106 or volkl katana

They are a do it all powder and carving ski. I don't know what ski you were on but this is a ridiculous take. I tried the Atomic Maverick 100 and I skied on a Volkl Mantra with the Wizards for a decade this ski is so much better then those. I think you don't have the correct style for this ski. The Atomic Maverick 100 is an absolute dog compared to the Enforcer 100. This is total clickbait for sure. Brutal

@@scholotzkys395 I didn’t enjoy the Mavericks at all. I skied on the one day in perfect conditions at Revelstoke and switched back to my old Volkl Mantra’s from 2013 for the second day. The Atomics were dead. My son then tried them in Jasper and hated them as well. I then bought the Nordica Enforcers 100’s and skied them for 6 days in Banff and Jasper. Best skis I have ever owned. My son and I are very big guys, 6 foot 3 and 250 pounds so we do need lots of ski. The mavericks didn’t cut it.
