Quick point, I totally goofed and called them the "Rossignol QST 106" Obviously these are Salomon Qst 106's, I was talking with my Dad about the Rossi Experience's being retired and must have kept it on my mind. Anyways sorry for the goof. Cheers.

I've been skiing a long time. I didn't understand the width issue at first since back in the day all that mattered was ski length and stiffness. Most high end skis were based on racing skis and they were all quite narrow. Skiers were expected to learn to use these narrow skis on all terrains including powder. Now it seems you need narrow for hardpack and wide for powder. Is this marketing? Perhaps partly.

Are ski companies gone away from using tip guards, caps, whatever you wish to call them? If lamination or chipping or damage is something that ski tips are prone to, why not use a cap around the ski tip? They used to do this over many skis years ago. My older Volkl has an aluminum cap around the tips, with small rivets driven through it into the ski. I don't make it a practice to nose into granite walls with it, but I can see the caps helping in general.

I just got back from skiing... Normally I am so hot and sweaty after skiing that it is nice to cool off on the ride home.. Also, what seams to work for me is to bring a 24 ounce Gatorade and drink 12 ounces of it while I am driving from the mountain.. My PCP says that they have too much sugar so I will switch over to electrolyte packages after all my Gatorade is gone.. I love having an arm pocket for my pass.. I have been using the Epic pass on my phone lately and that seams to work good.. As far as boots go, I just watched Jeff and Bob's Quiver videos and they use at least 5 different boots each year.. I thought that was interesting but Bob was talking about High Volume and Low Volume.. Apparently High Volume means that your liner has more space in the boot.. I am learning something every day... They are going to test out those Zip Liners.. I will be looking forward to when you test your Zip Liners.. Again, if you could do a video on how you cure the liners that would be great.. I think Bob said that he just put his in the microwave for 40 seconds and then put them into the boot.. Skis.. I was on my 2016 Stormrider 88s today and they rocked.. I got my 6 runs in before it got too crowded.. I did notice a couple who demoed some 2025 Stormrider 88s and Montero... Not sure if they were AS AX or AR but those are some cool skis.. QST 106.. I demoed 187 and if I were to get the skis they would be 182.. I am 5.9... If you are taller I could see going longer..

If ski jacket makers aren’t putting the zipper pockets on the sleeves of their products, then they are missing the boat. Also nearly every ski resort has switched to RFID lift tickets. To me it’s essential to be able to scan the card quickly at the lift. Plus, this eventually leads to shorter and faster lift lines.

Hey I've skied there! It just depends on your priorities tbh, but you've picked 3 great options. I would say though bang for your buck the QST 98's are really great off trail skis you can get them for $389, very surfy, nice cork dampener, feels very comfortable while on edge: Salomon QST 98 at Evo: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=793405 If you want a damp ski that will do well through the crud, and you like having the ski bite in the middle of the ski go with the m7 though it's full price currently: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=883714 If you want a ski that is super accurate with it's carving I'd go with the maverick 100, but tbh, I kind of like the 95 Better and think it's a bit more versatile, you can get those for about $450 currently: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=791935

Hey Elliot, your reviews are great and helped me to get my fist pair of skis last year, Maverick 88, and l got a pair of Bent 110s for a powder ski this year. I am curious if you think I would need anything in between (around 100) that is more flexible for the days it’s not super deep snow but I want to go off trail and what you might suggest. Would love to know your thoughts if you think that the options in my quiver work well for all circumstances. Haven’t skied on the 110s yet, but looking forward to that first powder day! Hey, I was wondering what your thoughts are on a one ski quiver for west coast (BC) skiing would be. It would generally be for softer snow as I could always carry a more narrow ski if needed. I'm mostly going off piste and through woods but would like it still decent on groomers as I get back to chair lifts and bar. Currently thinking sender free 110, mfree 108, or qst blank ( though I see you like 106). Thanks in advance.

I think it just depends on your priorities. It's it off trail or on trail? Do you want deals or is money less of a concern? I'll try and give you my 2 cents based on deals, but let me know if you're not concerned with it. I personally think the wider than like 115 starts to hurt my hips after about 3-4 hours, but your mileage may vary. On trail I think you might really like the qst 98 or Maverick 100, they just punch way above their width for performance while still carving well and being comfortable all day long. bang for your buck the QST 98's are really great at $389, very surfy, nice cork dampener, feels very comfortable while on edge: Salomon QST 98 at Evo: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=793405 maverick 100ti $450 currently: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=791935 if you're not worried about saving $ the Maverick 105 CTI is also really great at $800: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=886902 If you're wanting a powder ski that you're going to stay off trail with, I like the Bent 110s and QST 106's alot the Bent 110's are here at $450: www.avantlink.com/click.php?tt=pl&ti=132&pw=372417&mi=10270&pt=3&pri=791441 Sender 110's are sweet and out of the ones you presented that would probably be my pick, but I think for high mileage one of the options above fit a bit better where they give you a fun on trail ski while still being really fun off trail.
@fencejack
@fencejack Күн бұрын
@@RicketySkiReviews really appreciate the thorough response. At the moment, not too concerned about limiting my choices by deals since I'd rather ensure I get the right ski first. Definitely get your point on high mileage. Would the bent 110 be preferred over sender free 110 mainly due to softer Flex? Also, this would be my off trail soft ski. Since you seem to like the atomic, would the 95ti be a good on trail pairing? Thanks again

I agree about the financial accessibility and limited opportunities for most Americans. It’s no longer the local, small areas and clubs providing entry and learning choices. Climate change requiring expensive snow-making. The concentration of skiing in a relative handful of regions which require expensive travel, accommodations , food, and outrageous lift to tickets. Bigger and biggest are not always the best. Smaller, family-friendly, inexpensive, clubs, and accessible places allow many to learn and enjoy the sport. That’s how I and all my 4 sisters became life-long, accomplished skiers. Also, Nordic sports allow an inexpensive and healthy outlet.
