We lived near there before we moved to Tennessee a few years ago, and that was a super fun road! The Ortega Highway was fun, as was the ride up to Big Bear, but Palomar was super fun and very technical. It's a great place to refine trail braking skills, but ride too fast or you'll be dead. Here in Tennessee, I've found what I'd consider the best riding in the entire country. I've been in 49 states so far (except Alaska), and the riding here in northeastern Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and Kentucky are simply fantastic!!

The Ortega Highway is considered the most dangerous road in So Cal. It has claimed many lives over the years. But, it is definitely a beautiful drive with biker bars at the top and close to the bottom.

@@firebirdlover4460 - Yup. Those sheer cliff walls are painted red with blood from riders who couldn't handle their bikes. Sad.

Holy cow! You can definitely tell the elevation change at the 1:29 mark! Not used to it going up and down like that! Looks fun! 😍

Its crazy to be above that cloud line. I could spend hours just gong up and down the hill.

Yay!! This is exactly our purpose in creating this platform. Make sure to leave a review for the road on our website after you ride it so other riders know which destinations are the best.

San Diego county has some of the best motorcycle roads in the entire country.... And the best weather.. this is just one of many grade roads.. East grade is called the fast side.. South grade the tight side...

Yea, I don’t ride those roads Friday thru Sunday because of the weekend crazies that can’t drive but think they can. 😎😎

I’d say that highland valley, and de luz , make palomar look like a happy meal. Too dangerous for a bicycle though. Palomar mountain is just one big smooth hill, these other roads have elevation changes similar to the Nurburgring, if you want a real challenge. Mount laguna has much more technical corners and for for sure will give you lift off oversteer on the longer curves if you are not careful. Palomar mountain is heavily patrolled by the CHP nowdays, the speed limit is like 30mph, overcrowded due to videos like these.

On a bagger, I like the east grade better. More open, sweeping turns. No first gear switchbacks. Save the south grade for something made for cornering.
