I have to say in my quest for positive input on KZbin I have stopped seeing negative videos and have taken a liking to yours. I live in Puerto Rico and things have been rough here for over a year now. I personally have had a very rough time...but not going to get into that. For some reason your videos fill me with joy anticipation and the feeling of abundance and stability. Watching you pick and choose and chow down is a pleasure for me. Was 1973, coming back from our honeymoon. Dirt poor,barely had enough for gas and meals. Stopped at Pea Soup Anderson’s for dinner. You got soup, bread, the drink of your choice (including a glass of wine) for a 1.25 !

Best location. So many memories. That restaurant was one of the most important locations of my childhood. We would stop at Pea Soup Andersons every single time we drove through Santa Nella to and from Sacramento and Salinas. Everything about it is perfect. The smooth jazz playing. The kitschy knick knacks. The endless snack options. The windchimes. All four of us would hover over that sharp cheddar sample station for at least five minutes or until our table was ready. Then we would order the travelers special (unlimited pea soup and bread rolls). Eat three bowls each. We'd leave with at least two boxes of Aplets and Cotlets, crocks of sharp cheddar for Grandma, and a fresh book of Madlibs to play in the car. I LOVE PEA SOUP ANDERSONS. There was something so special about driving through the middle of nowhere surrounded by hot golden fields, crops, dust, and seeing the windmill come into view. It felt safe. It felt like an oasis. It felt like Grandma's house. Hope it stays open for many years to come because its one special place.

Great show, as always. The only thing I would have mentioned is that in addition to salt and pepper shakers, Andersen's provides two special blends on every table. You can see them at several points in this video, and consumers can buy them at the gift shop, as well as at major grocery stores. I like to sprinkle the special blends on opposite sides of the pea soup bowl, as each offers its own burst of flavor.

I always wanted to try this place but never made the time on any of my road trips...that will have to change! Fried chicken looked great and extra gravy was a BIG PLUS+! I love Monte Cristo sandwiches, I get them at the Blue Bayou restaurant in Disneyland(If I don't get the prime rib {end cut}! Another excellent video Derek!

They were really good people who treated us as family. My dad was the bar manager and my mom head bookkeeper. They would fly us up to lake Tahoe and let us use their cabin. They did this for many of their employees. I was only a teenager but they they left a lasting impression.

The 5? You mean the 101 right? Andersen's are mostly around Solvang near Santa Barbara so I can't imagine it being near the 5 in Central Valley. That part of the 101 is always fun to visit on the way to SF!

I never had their fried chicken I wish I had had it now it looks so good! I want the sandwich too, because that looked great also. But I know that I had the Pea Soup and that was the first time that I ever had pea soup at a restaurant and I loved it ever since then! I wish someone would have bought me a can of that and sent it to me it's been so many years since I was there! I absolutely love the place! It's a great place to look around. It's also a great place to buy souvenirs and hang out and just have coffee on your long trip to wherever! I totally loved this video! Thank you so very much! Also you can get the soup with bacon too, it doesn't have to be vegetarian!🐷🍃🐖🌿☮🐱 Did they have another option besides those vegetables? For example, could you have picked corn or cauliflower?

I grew up 90 miles north of Buellton so have eaten breakfast there a few times while traveling south on highway 101. The first time because I wanted to having seen the highway billboards my entire life, the rest of the times because I was with out-ot-towners who had heard of the place. It's a really cool restaurant making you feel like you've gone back in time and to another country but I don't care for their food. Everything has the overwhelming taste of nutmeg. I don't dislike nutmeg but you can't get away from it there. But I will say I've never had anything but breakfast so can't speak of the rest of menu. And I have never understood the fame of their split pea soup, not terrible but thoroughly mediocre at best. Even at the restaurant it tastes like run of the mill canned soup. But having said all that if you get the chance definitely stop by. It's an interesting place to see and maybe the food will be to your tastes. And as a side note the motel across the street is where they filmed the movie Sideways.

All You Can Vegas - I usually stick to buffets. I ate at Baliwick, the Orleans buffet about 4 Times, the new Tropicana buffet twice and the Silverton buffet twice and Original Chicken Tenders at Luxor. Aloha!

All You Can Vegas - The Tropicana buffet is overpriced, very small and you have to get your own drinks. I went to breakfast and the next day I went for lunch. With that being said everything was delicious and it didn’t have that mass cooking feel. I really enjoyed the $22.00 breakfast. They had dragon fruit, papaya, mango, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries and several different types of melon. A real fruit lovers dream. At lunch they had made to order pizza and pasta, which was nice. Between the two meals breakfast was the much better choice.
