The first tank typically uses a cation-exchange resin, and works to remove positively charged ions, effectively removing things like Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, and Iron. The second tank typically uses a anion-exchange resin, and works to remove negatively charged ions, effectively removing things like Chloride, Bicarbonate, Nitrate, Carbonate, and Sulfate. Dual tank systems aren't inherently "better," but they do tend to be cheaper to operate and recharge. Single tank systems are typically mixed resins, which means they have both cation and anion exchange resins mixed together. While it is certainly possible to have a dual tank system that is mixed resin in both tanks, that is a highly unusual configuration. If you have a "normal" dual tank system, the resins will likely need to be replaced at around the same time, and you definitely don't want to swap the positions. However, if this is truly a dual tank mixed resin system (highly unusual), then what you stated would be viable.

Ryno! Get you a TDS meter online. They are about $20. Measure you’re water before running through the tanks and then measure after running through the tanks. That will also tell you when they are getting bad and need to be changed out. You ideally wants >1 ppm, but anything less than about 12 should dry spot free

Third time I've watched this. Would be worthwhile having a water storage tank so you take from it to the pressure washer. That's what I'm doing using a water butt for the garden. You can have a sound proof box for the 4 stroke engine. That's my plan when my old Bosch dies. Well worthwhile with puretec

I'm not sure what the USA is like for truck washes but the truck wash I use in Canada has a setting called spot free rinse which uses a lower velocity and a different water compound that does the exact same thing. Saves me the mess of a wash bay and all the extra costs for that system. To each their own tho but I like the set up you got there, I'm sure it will be very efficient. 🤘🏼

I'm so confused as to why only 1000 gallons per tank.. incoming water must be bad or they are using crappy resin? You can buy a Pro Rinse 100 for $585 and get 4000 gallons @ 110ppm coming in of DI water for spot free use.

If you want a better (still portable) solution, look into the girot garage di system. It’s similar to his system but smaller. I take it to an industrial filtration company to change out the resin. It’s 300 for the system and about 100 for the resin. I get it changed out for 20 locally in nj. The only thing holding me back on a bigger system is winter. I don’t know how much i trust heating blankets for the bigger tanks

Ah, key word I spotted "rinse". You run two systems and only pay for DI for the rinse? You wash with crusty lead, mercury, clorox stuff that they tell us is safe to drink and then RINSE with good stuff?
@badlilstang4 жыл бұрын
@@feez357 As someone who details cars.. there are far more things that will damage your paint long before 200-400ppm water will. You are removing dirt with microfiber mitts.. you really think those small additions in the water will make any difference at all? The DI rinse is great for those of us working in the sun to prevent hard spots and is great as a final rinse so there is no rush to dry. Also CR Spotless sucks bad.. 400gallons of DI water for $400... you can get a Pro Rinse 50 setup with built in bypass vales for $400 and get 2000 gallons (based on 110ppm coming ) of DI water. You can get a Pro $100 for 585$ and get 4000 gallons of DI water...

I still think the CR is a more convenient set up for home use plus like with me I dont have water near my garage. @DMAXRYNO5 жыл бұрын
Because most people only need one tank. If you want apples to apples, you’d need $732 worth of replacement filters to get 2000 gallons from the CR spotless or $145 from the puretec system. It IS a lot cheaper.
