He ardently carried out his job with full gusto. It even was proven. However, at his trial he testified that he played down his role and was just doing what he was told.

Eichmann stumbled into the job as architect of the Final Solution by accident. His boss Obergruppenfuhrer Reinhard Heydrich was assassinated by a Czech commando unit in Prague (Operation Anthropoid). How did Eichmann manage to escape to Argentina? A Nazi sympathizer in the Vatican, Bishop Alois Hudal (Austrian-born as it turns out), provided false identities and passports, and created the so-called "ratlines". Other Nazi luminaries such as Treblinka camp commandant Franz Stangl and Josef Mengele were aided by Hudal to escape to Argentina. Finally, why Argentina of all places? Because the president at the time Juan Peron was a rabid pro-Nazi.

'Operation Finale' is a 2018 American historical dramatic thriller film directed by Chris Weitz from a screenplay by Matthew Orton about a 1960 clandestine operation by Israeli commandos to capture former SS officer Adolf Eichmann, and transport him to Jerusalem for trial on charges of crimes against humanity. The film stars Oscar Isaac (who also produced) as the Mossad officer Peter Malkin, and Ben Kingsley as Eichmann, with Lior Raz, Mélanie Laurent, Nick Kroll, and Haley Lu Richardson.
