Meet Dr. Kwane Stewart, the GoFundMe Hero of the Month for February 2020:
Dr. Kwane Stewart has been a veterinarian for over 20 years. After spending an afternoon offering medical care to the pets of people experiencing homelessness in his area, he learned an important lesson: these animals provide more than companionship to their owners - they also offer love, hope, and security. What Dr. Kwane initially thought would be a one-off experience has turned into a nine-year mission to help pets across Southern California and beyond.

13 years ago I was homeless on the streets in Australia with my beautiful beloved cat, Reanna, a Burmese tabby mix, RSPCA here got told I was neglecting her, which wasn't true, I spent nearly every cent I had on her food, blanket to keep her snug, Reanna was like a dog, follyme everywhere, rspca took her & murdered her & I had no way of fighting to save her as the state government then & now have no compassion for the homeless & their pets

I just learned about Dr Kwane thru FB today! What an amazing, selfless soul! I literally cried tears of joy watching this (and reading an AZ Family article about him)! I feel so overwhelmed with gratitude for what you do and that these people can keep their families. I will donate as I am able. I'm a volunteer dog handler at a shelter - we receive so many pets who's families have lost their homes, jobs or everything and it feels so heartbreaking because you can tell when a dog has known love. Of course, we find homes for each and every one of our shelter animals, even if it takes years. Kudos to you and thank you. I really needed to see this; that there's someone else out there with so much empathy and compassion. You and these people and their pets made my day ❤

I am very interested in watching your show but not sure where to find it in my area. As an animal rescuer who does it all out of pocket I have the utmost respect and gratitude for what you do! Gotta admit I am not a huge people fan but helping people who obviously love their pets like family (which is what they are.....I know mine are) are people i would like! At any time ANY one of us could end up on the street and I know I would be just like these folks....putting my animals well being first! Oh My Gosh I love Dr. Stewart...hearing about his selfless dedication and hearing him speak warms my heart and fill my eyes with happy tears for all those deserving animals that are benefiting from his generosity....he is a truly wonderful guy... our pets save us all; he gets it and understands the importance of our pets...i always give to the homeless and extra to those with pets ...when I had the time and means i did animal rescue for few years...still try to find home or help for the few when needed. Dr. Stewart is one amazing phenomenal human being. I truly wish there were more like him... 'may his store basket be always full' they are many vets that need to rethink what they do... taking advantage of us vulnerable pet owners by misdiagnosing our animals for monetary gains, etc. etc. Bless Dr. Kwane Stewart...He is a wonderful soul...wish him abundant success in all he does.

Dr. Kwane your amazing. I wish I became a vet. I actually spay and neuter homeless peoples pets for them. It's my passion. I even rescued bingo, an old black lab on his last legs. I told the man he would get 3 meals a day, have a beautiful rest of his life. 6 months after he grew back hair an was so happy he passed restfully under my tree. I love your spirit. Bless you... I just want to say thank you for helping those dogs. I have a chihuahua that I just found out some of his teeth are loose and it's going to cost $1,000 to do it and it sucks not having the money because your dogs are your kids when you don't have family or kids my Chihuahua is 18 years old

I have a little puppy dog that is just a sweetheart Max-E-Bear. He needs some help I cannot afford. I was wondering if they have a Pet Fund that is trusted I could look into. This little guy is very special he makes so many people happy. He is so cute and loving he does not deserve to suffer. He's never done a bad thing in his life. I know this video was made years ago. I lost My Husband of 34yrs and then Our German Shepherd. I didn't want to love anything after that, but I found a tiny kitty by itself in Marcola and I couldn't just leave him. He was be three in a couple of weeks, but he's sick, he can't get up to poop and he pees on himself. Thank you to the vet but as far as America is concerned the root problems of homelessness are not a lack of jobs. Yes, there are people who lose everything under tragic circumstances, but if you dig deep it is usually drugs, mental illness or just laziness. Pets deserve better....just because it makes some drug addled person feel better to have a pet along to drag through their nightmare doesn't make it right. Get your shit together ....then maybe worry about having a pet. If you are borderline broke, why would you even entertain getting a dog or cat? This is why so many pets get abandoned. Some random who can't take care of themselves gets one and then decides they can't deal with it and the pet ends up euthanized or in a shelter at best. If you think about all of the money spent on donated food and vet care it is ridiculous.....if the problem was dealt with by huge fines on people who abuse animals ....don't take care of their pets....or abandon their pets.....this problem would be a lot smaller. People who are busted for these things should be told by the courts that they can never own a pet again and watch the problem become much smaller. If homeless drug addicts and people who choose not to work want to feel better about themselves.....get your act together ....clean up.....get a job....get a life and see how quickly you will feel much better. All I hear are excuses.
