I feel what may have held him back is that he was working off old game knowledge and game feel. A lot has changed, and even from season to season, things can change tremendously. A lot of solid updates came for shen (all of his abilities giving him shield, a massive power gains, etc) from when he was first released. Shen, from what I remember, was much more of a tank than a brawler I believe, so his not trusting his damage is understandable. And ranged match ups are hard for a lot of top laners, so he saw himself losing the trade before he got there, making him panic, despite his shield and his melee's crushing them when he did go in. I don't know if they reviewed the champ beforehand to get a refresher, but that may have helped.

You just have to know a few things about melee vs ranged most situations first few levels just need to focus not taking autos after that you can work on getting in going for a small trade and getting out after you can repeat that you can literally push them out of lane leaving them at a gold and xp disadvantage

@@ROB-cj4kq I wouldnt say "supports would do little damage"... You could build Soraka back then to 1v5 thanks to her Q spam and % hp dmg from items. I miss that. I used to solo 3s games with Lulu.. Nami however is (and still is) the worst offender in the "hand holding support shield/heal bot" that causes people to slack off and not Need to learn more of the game. This is why he (neace) hates those supports so much. He loves Maokai and other tanky initiate supports. Its just the "enchanter/enchantress" that he despises. once upon a time nami actually did damage too.. before she was nerfed into oblivion.

This guy was too new to really benefit from the coaching. He just needs to grind out 50 games or so to be able to follow the directions being given. Like he doesn't know how to space out for Jayce or Veigar's abilities making it super hard to dodge. Bami's and tabi's confused him in shop, last hitting minions was super rough, etc... He just needs to play more then maybe book a session. Even when he was able to listen you can feel him struggling to understand the Why behind the directions.

Little tip for shen , you can take double Ad for last hitting the ranged creep under tower even at level 1 , it goes like.. one tower shoot -> Q -> Auto it's really good against matchups that's you have no prio enjoy 💪

18:53 Q wasn't going to do anything as he had already gained the passive shield from E'ing to the tower. The passive shield is triggered on any ability (at the end of the spell effect, so it doesn't pop until Q sword hits Shen, at the end of E dash, or when W ends). At level 10 it would have been on a 5s cooldown already.

@@SgtSolidShot Especially in those fights under tower shen is super good because of his taunt, you can let people hit you, they take tower aggro and then you can flash on them and E back to tower, I doubt he could've done it (because of mechanics and his health was too low) but at least then his flash wouldn't have been wasted but instead used to try and create a 1 for 1

2 things I noticed when he was teaching this man Shen: If Q passes through enemies it slows them, gives you bonus damage, and attack speed which is super helpful after you taunt for big trades. Also you can activate W before it's on you, then pull it to you with Q and still get the full duration, which helps bait some Melee champs into autoing you so they're easy to duel. Both are stated in Shen's kit but thought I'd share. :)

I would say the main thing that separates a good shen from a bad one is the CS, because of the simplicity of his kit, skill expression from shen players only really show in cs and ult timings. I love this champ but right now I feel it is agonizing to play because of how strong some of his counters are, even though you can still influence the match through map control, the pain you feel getting shoved into tower over and over again is discouraging, I feel like it is a good pick but not as a first pick.

Not only that, but the strength of hullbreaker as well. I've played a lot of Shen both this season and last season and am at the point now where I don't believe he's a good blind pick anymore. I still think he's in a decent spot, but hullbreaker allows other top laners to really take advantage of some of Shen's biggest weaknesses including wave clear and tower damage.

There's some advanced stuff like E Flash triple tunt or canceling R animation that's hard to do shen is my second pick but I really recommend him for flex games too Cuz he have map control and he is so much strong 1v1 lvl 1 and if you have a good urlly you win the game and you will be unkillable and against difficult matchups you play passive till you have your ultimate and try to look for ult and get kills you dont even need to kill your enemy laner over all shen is good even for beginners

i like playing shen and all but is top lane really the best lane to get to plat with for someone who was a support main several seasons ago it sounds like his champ knowledge would be none and top lane has the biggest champ pool to know and its VERY big snowball lane you dont get to learn much when you make a massive mistake pre 6 and just get constantly killed after under turret

You can also close the shope by pressing the "open shop" keybind as well. Should be P by default, but I moved it to T. This might help some players that are already familiar with the keybind, so it be another alternative. Although, in this specific case he presses the button in the UI instead of using the hotkey.

What is the funny on playing the same champ every game? That's why I only got gold 3 once, when I mastered Vel'koz, since that time, every time I need to play a different champ and a different role to have some fun in this game, and normal game I get diamond players with plat and gold, but ranked I get silver, then i have some fun, that's the only way I can play this game. I already played every champion 50 times at least, so I can play, but you know, sometimes I can get fed and sometimes I can feed.... I don't even care anymore, just, win one, lose two, win two, lose one.... I hate to play one champion forever.

After his rework LoL pretty much died for me. Now I sometimes play support Nami for my friends because she's somewhat fun with her versatility but nothing will ever come close to me as the old Shen. I don't like League of Legends as a game overall, I find it slow and boring.

Shen tip for Future Neace: You can Shen ult the mini-heads above the mini-map. Easier for targeting with no chance of misclick, and relieves a bit of the camerawork pressure.

Like you see the ADC health bar drop to 20% in half a second while getting tower dived 2v3, insta-ult then move the camera to plan your triple-kill. F-keys are still probably the best way to do it, but becoming Xpetu is a whole other problem to solve.

So you really encourage not playing with locked screen at all. Watching your vids made me focus on pro gameplay a lot more and pretty much every pro toggles centered cam when fighting which i do myself to since i think going all the way to the edge of the scren while i might habe to throw skillshots seem inconsistent. Do you call it out because your students actually toggle locked screen instead of center camera or do you think you should never played with a centered camera? I just cant see you doing split second adjustments while your cursor is at the edge of the screen

I have been observing this phenomenon for a while now and i gotta say its quite funny how people without basic game knowledge go to neace thinking that spending money on coaching will make them dramatically better at understanding mechanics which they are struggling with in every game thinking the problem is just pattern they gotta follow, which they cant notice on themselves. Ofc there is nothing wrong with that, its their money and their time and in this coaching the guy didnt even play shen before but i kinda feel like this could have been insanely better invested if they atleast just knew their pool, lane they wanna play and what their goal(solving the problem) is to anchieve through the coaching.

I haven’t watched Neace lately but this client wanted something their pool couldn’t provide. He wanted to carry but plays Nami and Nautilus. Neace defaulted to top and Shen. Top lane’s a good lane for solo agency and Shen is useful whether he’s 10/0 or 0/10. He could’ve went Malphite who is similar to Naut but iirc, Neace isn’t a fan of Cheese Wheel Malphite

from your op.gg, you need to first off drop yasuo. Youre iron, you dont have the mechanics for him yet. Second, stop playing so much normal games, they wont help you improve, nobody tryhards in normals. Ahri is insane broken rn, so its going to be easy to climb out of iron through gold if your basics are there. But seriously, stop the normals spam, and work on macro instead of mechanics. Keep practice on and you can climb well. I recommend watching LegitKorea for some good Ahri gameplay to learn from

@@peperoni9757 the problem with that game is that we didn't really have a jungler. i was not able to 1v9 with ahri because i was a little scared. I didn't know the limits that the champion gives me. I had a lot of mistakes I saw in my game. i also think i was wrong to go on full burst build maybe it was better to go on CDR because it could contribute a lot more

Can we just stop with the Shen uploads already? It's like every 2nd VOD now: "have you played shen before"? Ugh. My man we get it, it's n00b friendly but it doesn't help the channel if u guys's every 2-3 upload is a shen game, it boring, repetitive and generally uninteresting. Please make an effort to diverse your content. Neace does like 6-10 coachings a day, SURELY there is something else that you can pick that is not a shen game. If we wanted to watch a Shen every single day, we would prly go and sub to xPetu's channel, but that is not what your fanbase is mostly looking for. You even have other coaches on his team, who barely get some spotlight! I'm a regular for 2 years now here, try to watch the daily uploads on both main channels (chill neace is just not for me) and I keep noticing that Neace just goes through these phases in each season where he recommends only one champ to like 90% of clients. In the past it was Mundo, now it's Shen. Both are super boring to watch and not very educational.
