The greatest joy of proper synths is that they get you out of the box. Not having to mess with a computer is fantastic, and I say that as someone who has made music on computers for 30 years.

The Hydrasynth Deluxe is my first hardware synthesizer and one of the greatest things for me is I'm way more excited to create and twist knobs and I get lost in a world of creativity and even jamming sometimes

And with hardware synthesizers you have the advantage to use them live with the same sounds used in the recording session of the song which you're playing so you don't have the problem of carrying laptops or recreating your sounds on another synthesizers...

Very nice video Looma, VERY informative! I’ve had a Hydra Deluxe for over a year and have barely scratched the surface. What drew me to this over the Novation Summit was:73 keys, the 4-octave Ribbon Controller, and polyAT. You’ve inspired me to make the time to dig in and create some cool sounds!

😂 there’s no excuses to choose this over the summit other than a lack of funds. And that’s okay. But don’t go and lie to yourself like this is better

The interface is the best I've ever used (desktop version)and extremely intuitive and quick and I've owned a lot of synths over the last 20 years! I love this synth :) Although I use it for more in your face stuff for my productions and it does it really well! (I make Harddance/Hardstyle/Gabba) type stuff which it's also awesome for! :) It does lack in the filters a bit compared to "Serum" but they do sound awesome and I'm pretty sure they will add more complex ones in future updates! :)

The Hydrasynth is out for sometime and a new product will come sooner or later - so no Filter updates probably

The Hydrasynth is on my wish list currently. Probably going with the 'desktop' version, but haven't decided for sure yet. Great video, btw
@LoomaMusic Жыл бұрын
The Desktop is great! I've tried all three and they are all identical when it comes to the internals. The main difference is what you want out of the keys. The other difference is the explorer has a smaller screen so only 2 items can be viewed at once (which is the main reason I got the desktop). All of them have poly aftertouch. The desktop pads have a more linear aftertouch engagement while the keys have a more noticeable transition once they keys hit bottom of the keyboard. I would say the aftertouch specifically is better on any of them, it just comes down to preference and what you want out of it.

@@LoomaMusic I really wish there was a music store around here that carried them, I'd love to see how the keys feel vs the pads.

I owned this exact synthesizer and I’ll tell you that I sold it. “vital” is free sounds no worse than hydrasynth and it’s so much more convenient. good person at the price Also, I was always running out of voices on the hydra Now, on a positive note, it’s a great synthesizer

I just wish i could use more lfo sources as modulation or even just macro more lfo parameters on the Hydrasynth. All in all I love the Hydrasynth!
@LoomaMusic Жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Only being able to modulate the rate and level of the LFO is a little limiting. The smooth or even phase would allow for the lfos to become a lot more malleable.

Great content! Very useful. Can you comment on how they compare in bass sounds, subs and dubstep mid range? Everything about this synth makes me want to think it’s a hardware Serum except the feeling that it lacks low end and has an unpleasant core sound. Will I be disappointed when trying to match Serum’s amazing bass sounds?

it can be good,but you need to do alot to get good sounds. the prophet rev2 is a better choice in my opinion.
@LoomaMusic Жыл бұрын
I think that both synths are good at what they do! The Hydra is great for sound design and is probably capable of producing a wider variety of sounds. While the rev2 is better at achieving that classic prophet sound with a lot less work. Both are versatile but when looking for a synth specifically for sound design, the Hydra is hard to beat especially for the price.
@lX-NDR Жыл бұрын
@@LoomaMusic personal i find the sound of the rev 2 to have way more character. Hydra sounddesign i find awefull. But thats because if i have a idea i dont want to spend alot of time tweaking. The rev 2 is very good and inspiring from the start wich make the sounddesign more easy and fast to capture your idea. For me the hydrasynth is a meh,but i can see why some people love it. The hydrasynth explorer tho indeed for the price you get a lot of synth. Its a bit like my deepmind. The patches that come with it are meh but once you design own sounds it becomes a diffrent synth.

When you say VST, do you mean that only the VST plugins, or all kinds? Does the comparison work with Clap or AudioUnits or AAX?
@marcinha19738 ай бұрын
Do you know know that quite a few synth legends (wealthy people, mind you) have either sold or declare to sell all their synths in favor of VSTs? No one buys hardware synths because of their superiority over software today. The few remaining are still battling a war cos they don’t know it’s over.
