THIS TANK IS UNSTOPPABLE - T-44-100 in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The T-44-100 in War Thunder is genuinely one of the best tanks I've ever played in War Thunder. On paper the T-44 looks like it isn't very strong but in practice it couldn't be further from the truth.
The T-44-100 is one of the best tanks pound for pound in the game. The 90mm thick upper front plate is sloped at 60 degrees making it twice as thick and more angled than the T-34! The turret as well has a minimum of 100mm of armour but is shaped in a way that's extremely awkward to penetrate. Of course this vehicle is weak to side shots but there is some additional spaced armour to help with overmatching shots.
The T 44 100 is equipped with a 100mm cannon that can easily penetrate over 200mm of armour. The cannon is awesome so long as you know where to hit your enemies. There is very little drawbacks to the T-44-100 at all other than a slightly lengthy reload and poor gun elevation angles.
This tank is unstoppable in the right hands and is one of the best tanks in War Thunder!

I'm grinding 7.3 / 7.7 US at the moment and it really is a grind. I don't like ANY of the US tanks at that level. No fun at all, especially facing Russia. I'm actually not sure anymore why I'm doing it.. to get get to the Abrams and it's annoying engine? Heeeeeeeeey.... I'm over heeeeeeeeeeereeeeeeeeee.... can't you heeeeeeeeeeeeear meeeeeeeeeeeee? If only we could launch sand shells instead of smoke.. that would show them.

@@danielross7983 I've got the m1A2 Abrams, Leo 2A6 and t72b3 UBH, and i've gotta say, the m1a2 might be the shittiest one. Good mobility, yes. Good ammo, yes. Your weakspot is just so fuckin huge. Any shot on your UFP will bounce and dart ammo with more than ~500mm of pen will go through your lower frontal plate. The armourless hole under the mantlet is huge, easy to get hit there. I guess the American CAS is at least something that's cool and all. Russian top tier is fun, you get a balanced mix of armour, mobility and firepower. Also the t80 series is really fun because it goes 70kmh offroad. Germany is just undeniably the best. Turret that nothing can pen, ammo that can pen everything, and very mobile. If you want a good tip on what to play, uninstall war thunder. i did it abt a week ago, very worth. If you wanna keep tossing hours at this emotionally abusive game, go for Sweden or Germany.

Oh yes, the only thing I actually enjoyed playing at 7.0 Russia. It's about consistency. With the IS-3, it was far too common for me to get sniped by something like an Ru 251 or lekpz M41 from the edges of the map when I was barely out of spawn on Hurtgen Forest, or blown to bits by a T114 camping a corner on Italy. And what was I supposed to do? They were in every match, I couldn't see them, I couldn't fight back whatsoever, they held all the advantages, and there was no way to counter them. Long reload, nearly irrelevant armor, painfully slow turret traverse, and because its a 122, with the volumetric stuff, I've had some really unlucky shells that have cost me my life. I have had good games with it, its just not consistent. The times I've had the most success were when I had a couple teammates with me to cover my reload, or kill a guy that had taken out my breach, etc. Not really a playstyle I like. The Object 268 is much more usable now with the new overpressure mechanics, and killing something like an M103 or Conqueror or T34 with a 152mm HE shell is always satisfying. However its also really slow to react to new enemies, has a long reload, sluggish, and the armor is just as effective as the IS-3s...not very. So after a kill or two I'll just suffer the same fate as the IS-3, shredded by a Leo or Ru 251 or any other APDS and HEATFS firing racecar. Same thing as the IS-3, when I stuck with a couple teammates, I always did better and lived much longer. The ZSU-57-2 can be pretty fun, I won't lie. But it'll only work on certain maps, and you have to get it to a good spot. Its speed is rather underwhelming, and without the full AP belt, I struggled for a little bit, sometimes dying because I couldn't get the second round of AP shells off before the guy turned to shoot me. It usually does very well on nonlinear maps like Sweden or Alaska or American Desert. But that's it, its really situational and you have to get one of those maps to really excel. And if its single cap, well...you're out of luck. 50 cal-able from the front, turret is loaded with ammo, and you get shredded by planes all the time. Also really hard to use as an actual AA if you get a bad map. Very fragile, very situational, and performance is mostly determined by factors outside of your control. Now the T-44-100 is another story. It moves around very well, fast acceleration and top speed, fast turret traverse, trolly and effective armor, powerful armament, and the reload speed really doesn't feel all too bad. Plus it gets a 50 cal on top. The sideskirts have saved me on numerous occasions, and they throw off high explosive projectiles quite effectively if you use them right. You can brawl, snipe, and everything in between, its very versatile. The medium tank line in the Russian tech tree is really the only line where I've been able to find consistent success in throughout all the tiers.

I researched Germany 1st and Russia second, when I unlocked the Leopard 1 I had high expectations but was pretty disappointed. When I unlocked the t44-100 I had low expectations but was pleasantly surprised! Considering the 20 years of difference in the development between the t44 and the leo1, the t44 is an excellent tank and is still one of my favourites :)

Brutal grind on this thing. It's rough when stock. I wasn't used to it at all and got my butt kicked for a while. But once you get it spaded up a bit and get some experience it's pretty good. It's not my favorite but it's not bad either. The armor, in my experience, is easily defeated. It doesn't feel trolly to me. The gun depression is absolutely awful. You definitely need to play around the depression or you will fail. There's a ton of stuff at 7.0 to 8.0 that will make short work of you. I'd give it a 7/10.

Honestly, i like the 85mm t44 more. If you play both these tanks in the same style (heavy flanking, shooting in the sides) it doesnt matter whether you've got the 85 or the 100 cannon. Both wil punch through anything's sides, but the 85mm t44 is at 6.3 instead of 7.0
