THE MOST HATED VEHICLE - EBR in War Thunder - OddBawZ

The EBR in War Thunder is one of the most controversial vehicles Gaijin has ever added to the game. When it was first added the E.B.R was given an incredibly low battle rating of only 4.3! Today, the French EBR has found its way to a much more respectable 5.7 but how good is it?
The answer the question... VERY! At 5.7 the E.B.R is still very comfortable in the meta. It's fast, has a 5 second reload and a very punchy 180mm of penetration. The tank is extremely survivable due to having pretty much no armour at all so overall it's just the full package.
The EBR is wheeled so it's much more difficult to immobilise than a tracked vehicle and due to the autoloader you reload speed is always going to be 5 seconds unless you run out of ammo.

one time I was playing the italian patton and got killed by this thing twice, once in the original, once in the premium patton. I then brought the R3 and rained fiery justice upon him in the form of 20mm ap. The match ended like two seconds later.

@@CareraDrift Keyword is "wanted". They never even thought that an autoloading light vehicle with high penetration values would be OP in 3.7 or 4.0. Took an entire community to rage on Gaijin to make the changes. It was so obvious from the start that the EBR did not belong in their previous BRs.

I really feel like people are overreacting to the EBR these days. To be sure, it was overpowered at its original BR, but once it went up to 5.3, it lost the bulk of that overpowered nature. Sure, it is still fairly mobile and has a good reload, but the puma has arguably better mobility, a gun that can fire high penning aphe, and a faster reload rate with a good crew. The EBR is a good vehicle, but it really isn't that bad. This is coming from someone who both played it and faced it when it first came out.

I agree and at 5.7 it is kind of orphaned in the French line-up of other tanks. I haven't played it since the move to 5.7 for this reason alone.

@@Usually_Grumpy Exactly. Unless you have the captured Panther, it does not really make sense to run it. Still, it could be worse. I've heard some people saying it should be as high as 7.7, which is utterly ridiculous to me.

The thing I hate about this vehicle isn't how good or bad it is. It's really easy to kill, its mobility isn't that amazing, the gun while dangerous isn't really awesome anyways. The problem is that a LOT of EBR players bring this as their only vehicle. And when you play with France, sand say ⅓ of the team is French, all playing EBRs, it's basically a lost game from minute 1. Since they're so easy to kill, they just die in the first 5 minutes and suddenly you're playing 20 against 12. THAT is why the EBR is such a shit thing for this game.

I just had a solution for the Narval dogfight cut short at 12:00 , you could have overtime like in Titanfall 2. The match may be over, but you can either keep fighting with no more respawns at all or manually exit the match.

Yeah a "light" tank that took two 88mm and one 75mm hits and kept going... It happened many times to me also. So either there are issues on how volumetric and damage models works on it or what i believe is the real reason, the german shells are so nurfed its almost a joke. They pen but the "after effects" of the pen are really low

France has one of the if not strongest lineup at 5.0-6.0 we’ve got the sa50, the fl10 Sherman, the jumbo, arl 44, ebr, and let’s not forget the death god dca 40, all this combined with the absurd air power France has around here

actually it is the worst lineup except italy. the sa50 is 5.0 with a 4.7 gun, the fl10 is nice but it is premium, the jumbo is usless unless you are in a downtier, the arl44 is a pinata with 13 seconds reload and a worse heavy tank than the panther D, and the ebr is good but it is left alone unless you have the fl10 or the captured panther
