Yeah. Tried it for about a year, didn’t jive with it, sold it this fall

@EposVox If you're using it for video, I can see why it's not a good fit. If you want to add film effects, grain, etc to footage, its much easier to do that in Da Vinci versus an in camera effect. Fujifilm simulations are designed to replicate the look of the film stock, not necessarily to provide a dramatic effect. Yes, you can increase the intensity of the simulation if you want to but, effects in Resolve are going to be much more prominent imo.
@EposVox10 күн бұрын
I mainly used it for photos. Never once liked the film simulation tools for anything beyond an initial test photo, and I don't understand the obsession with them. Can get the exact look I want with a raw file in Lightroom/Affinity/Resolve easily, and actually cater it to what I'm shooting rather than provide a generic profile to every shot. Plus, I shoot a lot of film, and rarely am I just leaving those photos alone, either. Film stock was the starting point back in the day, was rarely the target look. Also I should clarify, this was the X-Pro 3. Had a lot of issues with the physical usability too.

Wonderful! I bought an old farm, and is making my tiny office/studio/cave. It’s nowhere remotely near what you have, but w are nevertheless a great inspiration. Maybe I’ll just grab the keyboard (for Resolve and writing).

Holy hell, man. I thought I was bad with a colossal Maingear MG-1 gaming/streaming computer, Mackie DLZ Creator, 3 mics, Osmo Pocket 3 Creator Combo, and a handful of action cameras. May I ask what your primary source of monetization is for all the variety you seem to manage? Also... what's your primary mic at the main desk for talking head videos? Seems to be a boom mic out of frame.

I do all my work on an arm MacBook Pro 16” m3 max. I used to have a HUGE desk setup with a pc that cost MORE than the MacBook, but I’ve gone laptop only, not even a mouse anymore, not even a desk anymore I use the laptop on my lap or at my kitchen table as a laptop is meant to be used, MAYBE AirPods if I’m working while my robot vacuum is going or anywhere in public if it wasn’t for Arm laptops I wouldn’t own a MacBook and they’ve made my life way easier I love how my laptop is so efficient the limit of where I can work is the temperatures I can put up with during the Australian summer, not the computer’s limit. I still use the pc for gaming on my theatre room setup since I mainly do story games But for everything except gaming, macbooooooook I love it soooooo much I’ve used pc my whole life and only ever owned two Mac’s (an m1 MacBook Air and this 16” MacBook Pro) and I don’t see myself going back

I've been saying for 2 years now that an ARM based Steam Deck would literally be a perfect device for me and now I've seen leaks that Valve is working on exactly that, complete with an ARM translation layer for Proton. The efficiency and battery life revolution in the last few years has been a godsend! ARM is truly the future (until RISC-V is more mature)
@EposVox13 күн бұрын
That would be incredible!
@kryst4line13 күн бұрын
Recently got a Retroid Pocket 5 and its freaking amazing, I cannot understand how with a 5 years old chipset (Snapdragon 865) and an outdated PS2 emu it can deal with Gran Turismo at 2.5x resolution and the Steam Deck lags constantly at the same game at 1x. Also waaaay more battery life @_@
@deldarel13 күн бұрын
Ah, and soon it will be cheaper too! And maybe even more optimised! Risc-5 being open would allow for multiple smaller chips where needed without added cost to ARM. And thanks for the recommendations at the start! I could use that to get some of my luster back for workflow.

all this exepensive gear just to intentionally fuck up the video quality in a "stylistic" way, smh
@EposVox13 күн бұрын
What the hell do you think movies, TV shows, photographers, artists do?! Capturing everything as photorealistic as possible is both easy and boring/pointless. That's not what the gear is for. If I wanted that, I'd have no reason to have most of this gear.
