This tip that Jules is giving is going to make you feel stupid at first. But keep with it because it's a great way to get you to play what's in your head. And in doing so, you may stumble across some happy little accidents as Bob Ross may have said.

That’s exactly the ticket. It’s an incredibly humbling “exercise” but it’s absolutely crucial to be brutally honest with yourself with this sort of thing to REALLY improve your guitar playing/ musicianship! Thanks for the great comment!

@@julesleyhe You may want to contact a few studio's with some recording. I believe you'd make one hell of a studio musician. I'm sure you have a lot more to offer than just slide guitar. However, your slide playing sounds good enough for recordings as it stands. Good luck with your journey Jules. You seem like you're one hell of a nice guy. Thanks for creating your channel and helping others get there. Peace.. Joe

Thanks for this lesson! I don't do this enough, and every time I do I have great results. And thanks for being vulnerable, it's always scary to do this stuff like this and show it online :)

You’re most welcome! Getting to a point where your internal ear is doing one thing and you’re never surprised by what you’re playing on guitar is incredibly gratifying, and just the honesty with yourself in the process is a fantastic way to develop your skills!

Hey Jules! Can you explain the difference between transcribing and transposing? I'm newer to music theory and the terms are sometimes confusing :)
@PelleKuipers2 күн бұрын
Transcribing is writing down a song be ear. Transposing is changing the key of a song.

the difference between transcribing and transposing: Transcribing is writing music out in tab or writing the notes to a song. Transposing in music is the process of moving a song's melody and chords to a different pitch level, while maintaining the same intervals and tone structure: But a lot of musicians that say the word "Transposing" are talking about playing or creating music.

That’s it Don, transposing = changing key of song, transcribing = to write out OR to simply learn a song, solo… transcribing by ear/ with your guitar is one of the best ways to develop your ear/ your musicianship!

The technique of practice? Especially exercises?

This is all about being honest with yourself while practicing and not just running your fingers over the frets! When you sing what you play and play what you sing it helps keep you honest/ be a more thoughtful player/ musician - give it a shot! 😊

If this improves my guitar playing, I don’t care how ridiculous my singing sounds.

I’m right there with you, Mark! 😊

@@julesleyhe Such a powerful idea. And without vulnerability what could possibly be discovered that is new? Nothing. Fabulous, authentic lesson, Jules. 💌

Rhythm is king, there’s always rhythm in lead playing though! 😉 Thanks for checking out the video!
