The Golden Temple is a sacred and revered place for Sikh Punjabis. Notably, it houses one of the world's largest communal kitchens, where they graciously serve more than 100,000 individuals every day. This remarkable kitchen operates solely through the efforts of volunteers and donated food.
We had the privilege to go behind the scenes and document the intricate food preparation and service process, while also meeting the dedicated Sikh Punjabis who generously contribute their time. What makes this kitchen genuinely exceptional is its inclusivity; it welcomes people of all faiths and cultures. Upon our arrival at the temple at 3 a.m., we were struck by the sight of hundreds of individuals from diverse religious backgrounds, including Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and Hindus, peacefully sleeping outside the temple grounds.
This kitchen operates tirelessly, serving three meals around the clock. I hope you enjoy watching this video and also learn about the tumultuous relationship Punjabi Sikhs have had with the Indian government. Thank you for watching!
