This area is such a great area for a simple camp! Lucky to have this near us. The tent you used for this part of the trip was interesting. Impressed by the size of it and the vestibule for cooking. Easily get 4 in it if need be.

It is from about 2000 - I still have the big brother: Force Ten Hurricane 300 (not to be confused with the later Hurricane series). This was just before they relaunched Force10 as a brand. Our friends had the one down which I think was a Storm 300. Looking at the details, I think yours is a year or two older, so about 1998-2000, and thus now 25 years old!

I don't think it will get the opportunity as it's a very bulky tent and requires 3 people to share the load. It's good for car camps and campsite camping, but I'd love to take it out in a storm. Storm camping by the car sounds like a good idea. Will show you what the tent can do.

Wow, what a legendary Basecamp tent. Definitely vintage, I've never heard of it. Vango made iconic mountaineering tents back in the day, this looks to be one of them. Multiple eyelets mean you can double pole the tent for extra strength too! Before I got the MTN2, I always wanted the Vango F10 XPD 3, in orange 🤤 Seen them crop up a few times on eBay etc, but given they haven't been made for years.. I worry about delamination etc.

There's been a few experienced heads like yourself saying the same thing: "Never heard of it!" So this is indeed interesting. I think it's from the 90s, but did these tents with those poles exist before, especially from Vango? I gathered that, but where should the 1st line of defence go? 1st eyelet closest to the fabric? That was my logic. None of my tents have 2 eyelets or more, my friend Cassie who occasionally appears, her Fjallraven has two on either end! Mate she is beautiful and so many similarities with the MTN F10. Only 1kg extra heavier too. That's my concern with the Vega 350+. I think the pole will be fine. Wouldn't surprise me if it's still waterproof tight. But the fabric... that's the most vulernable. Those individual threads especially. I don't think tents are supposed to be locked up for years at a time. It's why I rotate often. Thanks for your input as usual, Mark!

Seeing you sit at that firepit Monty puts me in mind, I recently got a Helikon M65 canvas army jacket. The canvas does have a bit of nylon in to help with waterproofing and keep its shape, but its very fireproof. I'm going to use it as a campfire jacket. I cant count how many waterproofs I've damaged with stray sparks

Mate I just put tape on them haha. I can't remember what it's called, but it's like gorilla tape and it's waterproof. Thankfully I only have 2 holes so far, but on my blue one!

That is an absolute weapon of a tent. I have or had a F10 Baltoro and F10 vortex, but thats a new one on me. Looks the bomb mate!!! Campsite camping/small walk in camping only at 6kg though!! ATB

It's a fine tent, mate and clearly for the mountains for multiple people, but I think in those conditions it's even a 3 man job to get pitched. I'm concerned the poles, well, more so the fabric, has woren since it's not been used in so long. Unopened though. Such an old tent that was unopened.

More like the big tents that had seperate groundsheets and those thick steel poles? Vango e-mailed me and said it predates when they had computers. So that was my logic behind calling it Vintage. I know many organisations didn't start installing computers till 80's/90's.
